Empire Building With Infinite Warehouse-Chapter 121: Holy Weapons
Maya pressed her back hard against the stone wall while the two knights slowly raised their long blades, and she knew she was in serious trouble. ππΏπππ°π²ππ§π π§π²π₯.ππ¨π
She had her dual daggers crossed in front of her face in a desperate defensive guard, but everyone in the courtyard understood those small weapons were not going to stop a high-level vampire attack.
Kyle was roaring in frustration and charging across the uneven cobblestones to help her.
But his new sword weighed a ton, and his leather armour slowed him down way too much to cross the distance before the vampires took their swing.
Aiden was still rolling on the ground and trying to wait out the terrible pain of his ribs knitting back together after that brutal kick.
That meant Julien was the only person left who could actually do something to save their incredibly fast scavenger from getting cut into pieces by the local patrol.
Julienβs hands were shaking so much that he almost dropped his glowing blue system interface right onto the street.
He was desperately tapping the corners of the premium shop window and trying to find some kind of advanced search function that did not just bring up useless religious statues or overpriced ceremonial robes that offered zero tactical advantage.
βPlease just give me a filter option before my friend gets killed over a spelling error,β Julien thought to himself, swiping away a giant catalogue of golden chalices and clicking on a small gear icon hidden right near the bottom corner of the digital screen.
The system finally responded with a helpful chime and opened a highly detailed filter menu that hovered right in his line of sight.
[Advanced Filtering Activated.]
[Please select your desired item category and elemental attribute to narrow the premium search results.]
Julien did not waste a single second reading the detailed instructions or browsing the sub-menus.
He frantically selected the consumables category and checked the box for the holy attribute, praying that the system had something practical in stock that did not require a fancy magic class to use.
The blue screen blinked rapidly and instantly populated a brand new list of combat-ready items that made Julienβs eyes go wide with sudden hope.
[Item Located: High-Tier Holy Water Grenades.]
[Quantity: Pack of three. Description: Glass vials infused with concentrated solar energy and blessed liquid, guaranteed to inflict severe burning damage on unholy entities.]
[Item Located: Silver-Laced Hunting Net.]
[Description: A woven trap designed to restrict the movement of high-agility targets and apply constant burning damage to cursed skin.]
They were the items he needed to turn the tide of the ambush and save Maya from the corner.
But then his eyes drifted over to the price tag listed right next to the purchase button, and his heart skipped a very painful beat.
The bundle of three holy water grenades and the silver net cost exactly one hundred thousand system credits.
βOne hundred thousand credits used to buy a brand new mana-powered car back in the districts, and I am literally about to throw it at a vampireβs face,β Julien thought to himself, feeling a physical pain in his chest as he stared at the insane number floating on his screen.
It was a staggering amount of money for consumable items that would just break upon impact. The scale of the dimensional economy was terrifying, but Julien looked over and saw the vampire knights stepping closer to Maya with cruel smiles on their pale faces, and he knew he could not put a price tag on his friendsβ lives.
He had an astronomical amount of pioneer credits sitting in his new account anyway, so he simply gritted his teeth and slammed his finger down on the glowing purchase button.
[Transaction Successful. One hundred thousand credits deducted from your pioneer balance. Items have been transferred to your spatial inventory for immediate deployment.]
Julien closed the blue interface and immediately reached into his spatial inventory, pulling out the silver-laced hunting net and the three glowing vials of holy water.
He did not have any special throwing skills or combat accuracy buffs, so he just relied on pure adrenaline to get the job done.
"Hey, you pale freaks!" Julien yelled at the top of his lungs, winding his arm back and throwing the silver-laced net directly at the two vampires cornering Maya.
The knights turned their heads at the loud noise, but they did not have enough time to blur out of the way because the wide net expanded perfectly through the air and dropped right over their heads.
The second the silver threads touched their spoiled-milk skin, a horrible hissing sound echoed across the quiet courtyard.
The vampires shrieked in pain and dropped their long blades, clawing frantically at the burning silver mesh that was restricting their unnatural movements.
The system interface flashed a bright green notification to confirm his strategy was actually working exactly as intended.
[Combat Alert: Targets successfully restrained. Silver attribute applies continuous damage.]
Julien did not wait for them to untangle themselves from the trap. He pulled the pins on the high-tier holy water grenades and chucked all three of them straight at the struggling vampires with everything he had.
The glass vials shattered perfectly against the stone wall right behind the knights, splashing concentrated solar energy and blessed liquid all over their dark armour.
The expensive holy fire erupted into a blinding white flash that illuminated the entire dark courtyard and pushed the creepy red shadows far away from the buildings. The vampires screamed as the holy water melted their high-tier armour into useless puddles of slag, burning away their pale skin and completely overwhelming their high resistance stats in a matter of seconds.
[Critical Hit! Holy attribute damage has successfully neutralised the hostile entities.]
The bright flames gave off an intense heat that forced Julien to shield his eyes with his arm.
Kyle finally reached the corner and used his large body to shield Maya from the splashing holy fire, grabbing her by the shoulder and pulling her safely away from the burning remains of the elite patrol.
"That was a really expensive distraction," Julien yelled over the crackling sounds of the white flames, running forward to join the rest of his group as Aiden finally pushed himself up from the ground with his ribs fully healed.
"I do not care how much it costs because it kept me from getting sliced in half," Maya replied with a shaky breath, giving Julien a very grateful look while she quickly sheathed her daggers.
The two remaining vampires from the original drop were standing on the other side of the courtyard, staring at the burning ashes of their comrades with genuine hesitation on their faces.
They clearly did not expect a group of stranded humans to have access to high-tier holy explosives, and the sudden display of extreme wealth and firepower made them pause their attack.
Julien knew the expensive trick would only buy them a few seconds before the knights realised he was out of grenades and decided to rush them again. He pointed down a narrow, winding alleyway that looked dark enough to hide their escape route from the rest of the bloodsuckers.
"We need to leave this open street right now before they call for reinforcements," Julien ordered quickly, pushing his friends toward the shadows.
Kyle took the lead and bulldozed his way into the alleyway with his new steel sword ready, while Aiden and Maya followed closely behind him.
Julien took one last look at the glowing white fire melting the cobblestones and ran right after them, hoping his remaining bank account was large enough to keep them alive until the sun finally came up in this terrible dimension.
