Chapter 769: Chapter 799 It’s Quite Ridiculous, Isn’t It?

At this moment, outside the door, Kyle Kinston’s gaze was fixed on that door, his fingers gently caressing it as if he were stroking the face of the person in his mind.

"Mabel, goodnight..."

It was like the softest whisper between lovers, and outside the Apartment Complex, the waxing moon was so bright, casting a gentle glow that draped the world in a layer of silver gauze.

Inside the apartment, Mabel Quinn walked up to Alice Conley, seeing the dried tear stains on her face, she couldn’t help but say, "Why don’t you wash your face first?"

But Alice suddenly said, "Mabel, can I sleep here with you tonight?"

Mabel was slightly taken aback, then replied, "Of course, no problem. Just call your parents, I’ve got pajamas and everything here for you."

Alice took out her phone only to find it was dead.

"Use my phone to call," Mabel handed her phone over, "Just say we’re discussing script drafts at my place."

Alice agreed, called home, and Mabel started taking out pajamas and such, putting them in the bathroom for Alice to change into after bathing.

After the call, Alice gave Mabel a bitter smile and said, "I’m afraid if I go home like this, my parents will be shocked, and if I start crying in front of them, they’ll be upset too."

Mabel patted Alice’s shoulder, "No matter what happens, I’m here to help you shoulder it. Alice, last time when I was at my lowest, you stayed by my side all the time, this time, I’ll stay with you too. You can come to stay here anytime, if you’re worried about upsetting your parents, I can help you think of excuses, and if there are any problems you can’t solve, we’ll find a solution together."

Alice felt a warmth in her heart, realizing how crucial it is to have a friend by your side, giving you strength, when you’re at your lowest.

She sniffled, took a deep breath, and looking straight at her friend said, "Mabel, I’m pregnant."

Mabel was stunned, "You’re pregnant?" Her gaze involuntarily drifted to Alice’s belly.

"Yes." Alice nodded, "I found out when I went for a check-up at the Hospital yesterday. I initially thought there was something wrong with my stomach, but it turned out I’m pregnant."

"So... when you went to see Dorian Howards today, it was to tell him you’re pregnant?" Mabel asked. She didn’t even need to ask whose child it was, she was sure it was Dorian’s!

Alice nodded, "I originally thought we could start over, but in reality, we can’t." Her voice paused as if trying to calm some lingering emotions, "Mabel, when I told you I didn’t want to be with Dorian Howards, it was because I didn’t want him to abandon his family, I didn’t want him to forsake his responsibilities, but there was actually a very important reason I didn’t mention. At the time, I thought I couldn’t have children, couldn’t be a mother."

Mabel was surprised, "But why would you think you couldn’t have children?"

"A misdiagnosis, quite ridiculous, right?" Or maybe it was a conspiracy, but at this point, she had no evidence at all.

It was only now that Mabel understood why Alice was so determined to break up, even though she clearly loved Dorian Howards, there was this hidden truth behind it all.
