Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 674 - 701: A Familiar Feeling
After Mabel Quinn sat down, the servant brought out the dishes one by one. Edward Quinn said, "I wasn’t sure what you like to eat, so I just asked the kitchen to make a few things. If there’s anything specific you want, you can tell the kitchen, and they can make it now."
"I like all these dishes," Mabel quickly replied.
Edward smiled, "At the tofu feast that day, I noticed you didn’t eat much. When I turned around, you were gone. Later, I heard from that Daniel Harris from the Harris Family that you went home first. So today, I called you over to say some things I didn’t finish that day and to enjoy a good meal with you."
Edward picked up his chopsticks first and started eating, so Mabel also began her meal.
As they ate together, Edward surprisingly spoke quite a bit, going against the usual silence during meals, sharing many stories from the past about her foster father, Asher Quinn.
Mabel listened with great interest. After all, when her father passed away, she was only 11 years old, and there were many things about him she didn’t know.
"Since your father never mentioned that you weren’t a child of the Quinn Family and even specifically asked the family for a golden locket meant for family children when you were little, it means your father also hoped you would be recognized as a Quinn Family child," Edward remarked as he changed the topic.
Mabel paused in surprise. In truth, she didn’t quite understand her father’s actions. Clearly, she was just an orphan without any blood relation, yet he went out of his way to request a golden locket for her. Meanwhile, her older brother, who was their biological child, didn’t have one.
Or perhaps, her father thought that her true background would eventually be revealed and hoped that with the locket, she would still be accepted by the Quinn Family?
What her father was thinking at the time, Mabel couldn’t know. However, she could feel the love embedded in his actions.
For those from a divided family to request a golden locket from the main family was incredibly difficult—something unimaginable for ordinary people. At least, over the years, besides her, no one else from a divided family received such a locket.
"As for matters concerning your foster mother, I’ll deal with it. She won’t trouble you again," Edward said. "Your foster mother currently owes a lot of money outside, and from what I know, she might also be involved in embezzling money from the bank. The bank will probably find out in a few days, and your foster mother is likely planning to flee."
Mabel was stunned, surprised that her uncle had uncovered so much in such a short time.
"How would you like the Quinn Family to handle this?" Edward asked.
With a serious expression, Mabel replied, "Too much has happened between my foster mother and me. At this point, there’s practically no mother-daughter relationship left. So regarding her affairs, I don’t want to get involved or offer any opinions or suggestions. For me, I’d rather consider her just a stranger."
Regarding the matters between Mabel and Evelina, Edward had naturally investigated. He knew that Evelina had previously sent debt collectors to kidnap her own daughter for money and even said something about letting her daughter entertain clients to pay off debts. Edward had absolutely no sympathy for Evelina.
"Alright. You don’t need to think about your foster mother’s matters anymore," Edward said. After they finished eating, Edward took Mabel to a room and pointed to a redwood box inside the room, saying to Mabel, "Everything here is part of the dowry your grandmother left for you. There are valuable things and some not so valuable, but they all carried your grandmother’s sentiments. Unfortunately, your grandmother never got to meet you..."
