Educated Youth in the Countryside: She is the Village's Embroidery Queen!-Chapter 110: Unconventional Approach
Uncle Yaozi realized there was ambiguity in his words and quickly corrected himself, "No, I mean why do you need antler velvet for treatment."
"For making medicine."
Yi Chichi kept it brief, "Wen Shi wrote to me about a special case, asking if I had any ideas. I thought I’d try making some medicine."
Uncle Yaozi had a confused expression, "You haven’t even seen the patient, and you’re already diagnosing them?"
"It’s not going to kill anyone."
Yi Chichi was straightforward, "Besides, the symptoms Wen Shi described are identical to a case I saw before."
The only difference, if any, would be the age gap between the two cases.
The case described by Wen Shi involved a 21-year-old, while the one she witnessed was over forty.
So, she felt quite at ease.
"Plus, even if the medicine is sent there, they might not even use it."
What if the case is into Western medicine?
Uncle Yaozi stared at her for a long while, still uneasy, "Do you have a prescription?"
Yi Chichi understood right away; he wanted to see the prescription.
She didn’t have any secretive intentions, knowing that Uncle Yaozi wouldn’t tell anyone even if he saw it.
"I’ll write it down for you to see."
"Let’s go."
Uncle Yaozi led her inside, and Yi Chichi, familiar with the place, got some paper and a pen to write down the prescription.
The first few ingredients were quite ordinary, and Uncle Yaozi, watching her write, was unfazed until he saw the sixth ingredient and his eyes suddenly widened.
Upon seeing the later ingredients, his face turned dark.
As Yi Chichi finished writing, he was gasping dramatically, clutching his chest as if having a heart attack.
"Uncle, what’s wrong with you?!"
Yi Chichi turned around upon noticing the abnormal breathing, and seeing him like that, she was startled, her hand trembling as she pulled out a needle to stick into him.
"Stop, I’m fine."
The flashing silver needle startled Uncle Yaozi so much that he composed himself, indicating with a pale face that he was okay.
Yi Chichi, "??? Are you sure you’re okay?"
His complexion didn’t really look okay.
"I’m fine."
He waved his hand, looking weary as he picked up the prescription and shook it, "I was just shocked by your prescription."
Never seen such a bizarre approach from a pharmacist.
Yi Chichi chuckled, "It doesn’t matter if it’s a black cat or a white cat, as long as it catches mice, it’s a good cat. The same goes for medicine. No matter if it’s highly tonic or very cold or even highly toxic, as long as the dosage is right, it can reach a delicate balance, turning poison into a tonic."
"Conversely, a tonic can turn into a poison, killing without leaving a trace."
Uncle Yaozi stared at the prescription for a while and then looked up at her, "Is it okay if I keep this prescription for research?"
"Sure."
Yi Chichi didn’t mind; she had memorized countless prescriptions like this.
The number of prescriptions accumulated over generations from the Imperial Doctor Family is truly astonishing.
"But Uncle, I should remind you, this prescription is highly specific to the patient and isn’t a broad-spectrum one."
Implying, don’t use it on just anyone you encounter.
"I understand."
Uncle Yaozi knew this well and stared at the prescription without lifting his head, "I just want to study this prescription."
The composition is so exquisite that anyone who can come up with it is definitely a genius with unconventional thinking.
Yi Chichi trusted his professional ethics, and after reminding him not to forget about the vegetable seedlings, she returned to the Youth Corps Courtyard.
During dinner, Aunt Ma came over.
"Chichi, are you there?"
Yi Chichi, who was in the middle of dinner, responded affirmatively and told Bai Chen and the others, who looked up, "You guys keep eating, I’ll go take a look outside."
"Don’t be long."
If she took her time, they might finish all the food.
"Got it!"
Yi Chichi didn’t want to take chances; people nowadays seemed to have bottomless stomachs.
She also worried that if she came back late, she’d find empty plates.
So, when she reached Aunt Ma, she went straight to the point, "Aunt, have you eaten dinner yet?"
"Not yet, I’ll make some when I get back."
Aunt Ma didn’t waste words, checked around to see no one was listening, then pulled her under a nearby tree, "Chichi, Tangtang went to the provincial city and will be back the day after tomorrow, she can’t come over. Can you take the clothes and go to the county with me?"
Such a good opportunity?
Yi Chichi felt a bit delighted, "Can we come back the same day?"
This hinted her agreement.
Aunt Ma quickly promised, "If we don’t alter the clothes, we can come back. If we do, then we can’t, but don’t worry, there’s a place for you to sleep."
"Aunt, will you accompany me?"
"Of course, I have to."
"Great!"
For the sake of the balance payment and to stock up on things for her grandpa and the others, she set off towards the county~~~
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. On the morning of April 6th, Aunt Ma came to pick her up on a secondhand bicycle.
Yi Chichi brought clothes and traded pine nuts, black fungus, and other dried goods from some villagers, and sat on the back seat with Aunt Ma for the trip to the county.
The road, part mud, part gravel, had the back seat as just an empty metal frame. While okay for carrying goods, it was dreadful for a passenger.
It didn’t take ten minutes before Yi Chichi couldn’t stand it anymore.
"Aunt, let’s switch."
She shouted loudly, but despite her volume, today’s wind was even stronger, carrying her voice right away, leaving Aunt Ma none the wiser, pedaling with all her might.
Nothing else she could do, Yi Chichi had to lean forward and call out again to switch places.
This time Aunt Ma heard, stopped the bike, and turned to her, "What did you say?"
"I said, Aunt, let’s switch."
Aunt Ma gave her a once-over, hesitating, "Can you ride a bicycle?"
How unusual, she not only knew how to ride a bicycle, but could ride a motorcycle, drive a car, and even fly a small plane.
"I can, I ride very well."
Aunt Ma was silent for two seconds, "I’m worried you won’t be able to handle me."
"I will."
She spoke confidently, "I guarantee I can handle you."
"Then let’s switch, but if you get tired, let me know immediately, don’t push yourself."
"Okay."
Yi Chichi didn’t think she’d get tired, her only concern was if she continued sitting, her butt would be sore; the passenger experience on the bicycle was truly awful.
So, they traded places.
Riding was more comfortable than sitting, although tiring, her bottom wasn’t punished. And when the seat got uncomfortable, she could always stand up to pedal.
Yi Chichi, pumped up, pedaled the bike as if on wings.
Aunt Ma, being laid-back, thought since she’d been to the county, she should know the way, and decided to take a little nap.
Last night, Niu Niu had tummy troubles and was cranky, keeping Aunt Ma awake. She could use this time for a nap.
Though troubled with worries, she didn’t sleep peacefully, roughly twenty minutes later, she opened her eyes, surprised by the scenery.
Holy cow, where in the world are they?
"Chichi, wait up!"
She urgently called for a stop.
Yi Chichi braked, "What’s wrong?"
The county scenery was lovely, engrossing her so much she didn’t feel tired.
"Don’t you find something off?"
Pointing to the piled logs on the roadside ahead and the nearby woods, Aunt Ma, half amused, half worried, pointed out.
