Easy Way of Cultivation: Power Harvesting-Chapter 81 - 63: Body Refining Sixth Layer, Second Commander’s Disciple
Guo Hongyi walked over and greeted Wei Fan and the others, all of whom responded politely.
Wei Fan was new and didn’t know Guo Hongyi well, but Li Fengyi and Peng Mingjie had been under Shan Jinhong for some time and already knew Guo Hongyi, having fought side by side many times.
After the greetings, Guo Hongyi said, "By order of Lord Situ, except for the injured, all of us who aren’t wounded need to be on duty starting now!"
That meant everyone would sit together in one place, awaiting assignments.
Wei Fan had been at the Demon Suppression Bureau for a while. Though he’d gone out on two missions, he actually hadn’t ever been officially on duty.
Both times he’d gone out, it was because Li Fengyi and the others came to get him, and he just tagged along.
A place like the Demon Suppression Bureau couldn’t possibly be so lax. He’d been spared from duty before because he was still new, focusing on learning Martial Arts.
Ning Xuan and Su Xuerong had already left; Su Guangwen and Shen Wei were wounded badly in the battle at Wei Family Manor. In the end, only Wei Fan, Li Fengyi, Yu Hong, and Duan Anyue followed Guo Hongyi to the duty camp.
It was a large hall, with plenty of benches and tables. This was where the Demon Suppression Guards under Situ Ying took their shifts.
When Wei Fan and his group arrived, their squad’s assigned duty spot had already been designated.
They could sit at their station and wait for orders, or go outside to the training ground and practice, as long as they didn’t leave.
As Wei Fan stepped into the hall, what caught his eye first was a huge list posted high above—not far from him—covered in information about all kinds of Demon Fiends, and even some people.
For example, Wei Changqing. Right there at the bottom of the list, Wei Fan spotted an entry about him.
Li Fengyi came over. "That’s the Bounty Board. Every creature listed there is a Great Demon Fiend who hasn’t been caught yet. Catch or slay one, and you’re allowed to pick any one of the Demon Suppression Bureau’s top ten Martial Arts to learn!"
Wei Fan’s eyes brightened!
Li Fengyi went on, "But the Demon Fiends on the Bounty Board are all at least Nascent Soul Great Demon or Celestial Martial Artist level. Not exactly easy pickings.
If they were that easy to deal with, there wouldn’t be more and more names showing up on that list.
But take note—if you want to get promoted to Captain at the Demon Suppression Bureau, you not only have to reach Celestial Martial Artist, but you also need to slay or capture at least one Demon Fiend from this Bounty Board."
Wei Fan glanced at it for a while, memorizing a good deal of information.
He wasn’t really thinking of hunting down any Demon Fiend on the bounty list; he just wanted to remember their names so, if he ran into them later, he’d know to stay out of their way.
Even though he specialized in Horizontal Cultivation of Innate, and his dantian could hold a hundred years of Power, any Demon Fiend who’d reached Celestial or Core Formation Realm would never be lacking in talent themselves.
"This duty is mind-numbingly boring."
Wei Fan slumped back into his seat.
Back when he was on duty in Yun City, he could go out on patrols, walk all over the place. This kind of duty—just sitting around like back in his previous life at an office job—was tedious as hell.
Yu Hong overheard his grumbling and scooted over, saying, "Don’t complain, Brother Wei. Once you’ve been with the Demon Suppression Bureau longer, you’ll realize this is the most comfortable work you’ll ever get.
Duty in the camp is just one of our tasks as Demon Suppression Guards. Besides shift duty, there are also patrol and garrison missions—each time you go out, it’s seven or eight days before you come back, eating cold food, suffering, dealing with danger. Compared to that, being on duty is as easy as it gets."
"Each squad is made up of ten people, mainly because of those patrol and garrison missions. If it was only for shift duty, we wouldn’t need squads at all."
Wei Fan, truth be told, also wanted an easy life. But he had a personal system panel, and he needed to slay Demon Fiends for power harvesting—so sitting around doing nothing wasn’t for him.
He was just about to ask Yu Hong in detail what exactly these patrol and garrison missions were, when their new captain, Guo Hongyi, hurried over with an official document in his hand.
"There’s a demon calamity in Bamboo Sea County—a True Realm Demon Fiend snatching people in broad daylight. The local Arrest Officer couldn’t track the Demon Fiend down."
"Li Fengyi, Wei Fan, Yu Hong—listen up! The three of you are ordered to head to Bamboo Sea County immediately and find and eliminate the Demon Fiend!"
