Chapter 325

Chapter 325

"Let the trial for the elite member of the Tryst Guild, Ronan Steele, finally commence."

The six eyed man announced it as the trial hall slowly settled down.

Ronan stood by the podium prepared for him. His face was calm. Expressionless as always. As if the mountain of accusations stacked against him meant absolutely nothing.

"Let the first offender come forward."

A man dressed in a white shirt and black trousers stepped forward. His gaze was steady as he bowed lightly to the judge before turning toward the four eyed member.

The man nodded slightly as the man took the stage.

"First of all," the man began, his voice trembling before suddenly rising, "I personally gathered a lot of evidence that shows just how much of a monster this man truly is. And he dares to call himself a hero."

His voice cracked, like emotions he had been holding back for years were finally breaking loose.

"This man butchered and killed an entire guild. The Nailjaws Guild that resided at the southern edge of the Southern Continent was wiped out cleanly by this man calling himself a hero."

Gasps spread through the hall.

"I beg the judge and the high officials here. This man should be executed immediately. There is no need for a trial. Kill him on the spot."

The crowd erupted.

"Kill him!"

"The Exterminator must die!"

Voices roared through the courtroom like a storm.

Not everyone joined.

But most did.

Still, the court was not finished.

"Silence."

The judge spoke calmly.

Yet that single word crawled through every nerve in the hall.

Most of the people shouting were low rankers. Some A rankers were present, but the majority were between C and B rank.

They could not even begin to understand the weight carried by a retired S ranker.

The crowd slowly quieted.

The man continued giving testimony against Ronan. His words were sharp, angry, soaked with emotion.

But there was a problem.

There was almost no real evidence.

Only a few blurry images of a black haired man dressed completely in black fighting multiple people at once. The figure looked less like a hero and more like a ruthless thug tearing through enemies.

That was it.

No solid proof.

Still, the words lingered heavily in the air.

And the way the six eyed man had chosen to start the trial was already damaging enough.

Ronan’s reputation had never been good to begin with.

Now it was sinking even deeper.

"Well, you heard him, folks," the six eyed member said with a sad shake of his head, as if he pitied Ronan. "The man being tried today seems to have far more ruthless deeds than we originally imagined. Who could have guessed the truth ran this deep?"

Up in the spectator seats, Aiden clicked his tongue.

"I should knock some sense into that stupid six eyes head."

He muttered quietly to Clara.

Clara shook her head immediately.

"No."

Her eyes stayed locked on the trial floor.

"If we move too fast, we make it worse."

If they showed violence now, it would only confirm the accusations.

So no matter how tempting it was to drag that six eyed bastard down and smash his face into the floor, they had to endure it.

Clara forced the thought away and focused on the trial again.

Another offender stepped forward.

This one looked different.

His face was pale.

His expression hollow.

He didn’t even salute the judge.

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he raised a trembling hand toward Ronan.

"That man is a demon wearing human skin."

His voice cracked.

"He wiped out my family. My wife. My two children."

The hall went silent.

"I would have died too if not for the interference of a powerful hero guild."

He pointed toward a guild leader seated in the stands.

The guild leader nodded slowly.

Confirming the claim.

The man wiped his tears violently.

"I didn’t even know back then that the one hunting me was the infamous Exterminator."

He shuddered.

His eyes flickered toward Ronan again.

But this time something strange happened.

Fear.

The man hesitated.

Because looking at Ronan now, standing there calmly like a statue, he felt something crawling down his spine.

Back then the attacker he fought had been powerful.

But not this powerful.

This man before him felt... deeper.

Darker.

The witness himself was a high A ranker. Rank Sixteen overall in Class A.

A powerhouse.

Yet staring at Ronan now made his heart pound uncontrollably.

The man suddenly broke down, collapsing into tears.

The memory was tearing him apart.

And the crowd reacted instantly.

Hatred exploded again.

Han frowned slightly.

Why are there so many people accusing Ronan?

His eyes shifted toward a section of the hall.

A booth.

Inside sat the accusers.

There were many.

Too many.

Han counted quickly.

Fifty two names.

Two had already finished speaking.

That meant fifty more were waiting.

His blue eyes flickered faintly.

Even if Ronan walked the path of a vigilante, even if he was ruthless when dealing with criminals, there was no way he had committed this many atrocities.

One possibility surfaced.

Han’s gaze sharpened.

This entire trial was staged.

A perfectly constructed trap meant to destroy Ronan completely.

And if Ronan was executed here...

Tryst Guild would be targeted next.

Han’s eyes slowly moved toward the seats where the S rank heroes were sitting.

If someone powerful enough to manipulate this trial existed, they would be there.

Among them.

One of them was pulling the strings.

One of them wanted Ronan dead.

Han studied them carefully.

Nine

Ten.

None of them seemed to notice his gaze.

Their attention remained on the trial.

Then something changed.

One of the S rankers looked up.

Rank three.

The Undying Flame.

For a brief second, his eyes met Han’s.

Han could swear he saw flames dancing inside those eyes.

Real flames.

Then the man scoffed slightly and looked away.

Han raised an eyebrow.

What was wrong with that guy?

Below, the six eyed member’s voice rang out again.

"You heard that, folks. Our beloved hero Ronan Steele apparently didn’t stop at wiping out guilds. No, it seems he enjoys spreading chaos wherever he goes."

He sighed dramatically.

"Tell me, Ronan Steele. Did you enjoy slaughtering a man’s entire family?"

Ronan finally moved.

His gaze shifted from the six eyed man and landed on the crying witness.

Disgust flashed in his eyes.

That disgusting bastard.

Ronan clenched his fists.

He wanted nothing more than to rip the liar apart.

But he stayed still.

Clara had already told him.

She would handle everything.

If he acted now, their entire plan to legally pull him out of this trial would collapse.

"So you see," the six eyed member continued loudly, "the Exterminator doesn’t even bother defending himself."

The crowd stirred again.

"As if human lives mean nothing to him."

Ronan’s eyes dimmed.

Up in the stands, Aiden cracked his knuckles.

Please tell me it’s time to smash that fool’s head.

Clara’s eyes were burning with rage.

But she shook her head slowly.

"Not yet."

Her voice was cold.

"The trial is only beginning afterall."

Down below, the next accuser slowly stood up.

And behind him...

Dozens more waited.
