Chapter 324: Annoying Opponent

Chapter 324

The thought never crossed their minds.

After all, this human was a monster wearing human skin.

The fused lord turned, slowly, deliberately, until his gaze met Ronan’s unfazed, expressionless face.

"You damn rat," he said, each word dripping with cold venom.

Ronan blinked. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

The fused lord was already there.

A green flaming punch screamed toward his face. This time Ronan did not switch. He dodged cleanly, perfectly, and in the same motion sliced upward toward the lord’s neck.

The strike should have ended it.

Instead, the blade rang out weakly and recoiled.

Ronan blinked again.

That was new.

"So you can harden your body now," he thought. Interesting. Harder to kill, yes. Hard enough? Not even close.

Those thoughts crossed his mind in a fraction of a second as another punch came for his chest.

He vanished.

Several Norua appeared in his place.

The punch landed and wiped them out instantly.

The fused lord’s eyes burned red.

This was beyond anger.

This was fury.

He had sacrificed everything to reach this state. After fusing, after gaining near supreme power, after touching the edge of absolute dominance in the Norua plane, he still could not lay a finger on Ronan.

It was maddening.

Infuriating.

Unacceptable.

The fused lord finally lost control.

A deafening roar tore through the sky. The green flames on his body surged outward, spreading in every direction. Several unlucky Norua were caught and erased in an instant.

Ronan switched, reappearing in a safe zone.

The lord formed a massive green flaming spear in his hand, madness blazing in his eyes.

"I will get rid of you. I will kill you. I will erase you."

He charged.

Sound barriers shattered under his fury.

Ronan crossed his swords calmly and charged to meet him.

Another hellish round began.

Strike after strike.

The Norua lord attacked relentlessly while Ronan defended, weaving, retreating, scrambling. At least, that was how it looked on the surface.

Every time a fatal blow was about to land on Ronan’s head, neck, or chest, his figure blurred and another Norua appeared in his place, taking the attack and being erased by their own lord’s hand.

Again.

And again.

Minutes passed.

The Norua lord spiraled deeper into madness, his strikes growing wilder, more violent. He no longer cared who stood before him. Ronan or Norua, everything would be destroyed until that accursed human died.

Then it happened.

The flaming spear slammed Ronan’s swords aside and struck his face.

He crashed into the ground.

The fused lord laughed loudly, eyes red with satisfaction.

"Yes. I finally got you. Now you will not escape. You will die a painful, ruthless death by my hands."

He panted, green flames around him growing brighter by the second.

Then a figure rose.

Calmly.

Gently.

Ronan stood up.

He looked mostly unharmed. Just a small cut on his face. Nothing more.

The dread armor had absorbed the rest.

"That was kind of rough," Ronan said, brushing dust off his armor as if unbothered. As if unhurried.

"You damn human," the Norua lord shouted, breathing heavily. "Why are you still alive?"

Ronan did not answer.

He looked around.

The once vast Norua settlement was gone.

Utterly wiped out.

"It seems everyone’s dead now," Ronan said calmly. "So there’s only one left."

He lifted his gaze back to the fused lord.

"Then I can finally close this portal."

"It seems everyone is dead now," Ronan said calmly. "So there’s only one remaining. After that, I’ll finally close this portal."

Those words snapped the Norua lord out of his maddened frenzy.

He looked around.

And his blood ran cold.

Every building had been leveled during the battle. The entire Norua settlement had been torn apart and reduced to ruins. But that was not the worst part.

There were no survivors.

Most had been erased. Others had died in the crossfire.

Indirectly, he had destroyed everything he built. Indirectly, he had slaughtered every subordinate who trusted him.

The Norua lord felt his world fracture.

"When did it all go so wrong?"

Then he looked back at the human.

The one responsible for the calamity.

"It’s him," he growled through gritted teeth. "This is all his fault. All of it is that monster’s fault."

"I will kill you. I will kill you."

Green flames roared violently around his body.

Ronan stared at him blankly, completely unfazed by the overwhelming dominance flooding the area. When he spoke, his voice was calm, cold, and haunting.

"I guess as an avenger, I should end your life for insubordination," Ronan said. "They trusted you as their leader, and you chose to kill them instead."

"You don’t deserve to live."

He tilted his head slightly, a smile forming that did not feel like a smile at all.

"How fitting. You meet me now. The one who will surely kill you."

The Norua lord suddenly hesitated.

Why do I feel chills?

I can’t be afraid of this human. Not now.

In this fused state, his strength was supposed to be unrivaled. There was no way this human stood a chance. The fact that Ronan had been blocking and using other Norua as shields was proof. Proof that he was weaker.

That thought steadied him.

Confidence surged back.

He formed two green spears, each radiating immense power.

Ronan stepped forward.

His swords twirled effortlessly around his fingers as he moved, calm and graceful.

"Let’s end this."

His eyes locked onto the skill he chose to use. Not because he needed it.

But because he wanted this overconfident Norua lord to understand dread. Fear. Pain. Suffering.

To understand what absolute, true domination felt like before death.

This should be fun, Ronan thought as he activated the skill.
