"Nika!?" Uriel's scream was soon muffled, but Uriel was left paralyzed in fear once he noticed it wasn't Nika's tender hand what muffled him but something different.

"Not her, not really..." The voice let out as it pulled out its shapeless limb from Uriel's mouth.

"You, who are you?" Uriel said after gathering his breath.

"You don't recognize me? And here I thought we got pretty close." Medusa's voice replied.

"For fuck's sake..." Uriel let out an annoyed growl.

"Cursing is, uhm... bad." Luna's emotionless voice scolded.

"What do you want?" Uriel asked displeased, knowing full well that the 'thing' that just saved him had to be the horror level skinwalker.

"You still haven't answered my question." Uriel echoed.

"Hang on, let me turn on the light, this is getting really confusing."

"No!" The creature shrieked in a nasty voice that didn't resemble that of any human. "You must not create light here, not now. Just answer the question."

"Fine, just stick to your own voice and I'll answer."

"I have long forgotten what my own voice was, will this do?" The creature spoke in a raspy growling voice which perfectly befitted its monstrous nature.

"I'm going back to my friends, what does it look like I'm doing?"

"Why don't you grow back your legs? Are you... what do they call it... playing sports?" The creature asked and Uriel felt the urge to correct it, but then realized that while it wasn't wearing someone's skin a skinwalker would only retain its memory from it's cryptid form.

"Something like that," He replied dryly. "why can't I turn the light on now? You're the only cryptid nearby."

"I must give you a message from father, but if you turn the lights on I'll be forced to wear a skinsuit and I will forget your answer."

Despite being at the mercy of such a creature, Uriel didn't feel threatened in the slightest since their proximity worked in his favor. As long as the creature was within arm's reach he could fight and probably win.

"So, what's the message?"

"You must come meet father." The creature said.

"Not a chance, if that's all..."

"You must come meet father!" The creature gnarled and then continued. "I saved you, you must come."

"Listen, you only got to 'save me' because you scared the crap out of me in the first place, but even in a hypothetical scenario where you did save me, that would only make us even. We could have easily killed you back then, remember? Second, knowing you, I don't want to get acquainted with your father whoever or whatever it is."

"Father want you to come, you must come. I can take the form of any man or woman you desire and I can serve you, but you..." The cryptid said invitingly, but Uriel finished its sentence showing little interest in its proposal.

"Must go. You already said he wants to meet me, but what do I get out of this?"

"Your friends are already there. Father allowed them to pass and didn't let any harm come to them once they did."

"I'll go, but only if you promise no harm will come to me or my friends and also, you must let me stab you." The cryptid was left speechless for a moment, until Uriel lifted his dagger. "With this."

"I thought you meant something different." The cryptid let out a nasty mix of a chuckle and a gurgling sound which clearly meant to embarrass him.

"Like I would do that sort of thing with you." Uriel grunted.

"Maybe you have and we both forgot." The cryptid joked.

"It's impossible." Uriel replied shortly.

"When I take the skin of a human I get their shape, their memories and also... their desires. I thirst, I hunger and other things too and I've been close to you, more than you think..."

"It's still impossible." Uriel didn't so much as blink.

"But, how could you possibly know, unless..." The realization that Uriel was still a virgin finally hit the cryptid and it laughed a laugh so annoying, so infuriating, that Uriel couldn't keep himself from stabbing it anymore and the dagger started its work as soon as it pierced through the cryptids formless body.

Fateful to its description, life essence flowed from its tip to the hilt filling Uriel with energy.

"Ahhh, this is better." Uriel let out a satisfying sigh as he released the tourniquets he previously made to allow the healing process and let his legs grow back again, though it did end up taking more time than Uriel would have liked.

"Ahhh... so rough. You don't know how to treat a lady." The cryptid mockingly moaned, then complained as it noticed its life essence decline, but still let him do it until he recovered completely.

Uriel stood upright as soon as he was able to and then pondered on whether he should make a run for it towards the light or do as he agreed, but in the end he decided to honor the deal. Even if he was dealing with a cryptid, Uriel believed deals were a perfect depiction of what life was supposed to be.

Two parties getting what they want in the perfect measure, a simple yet powerful concept that laid the foundation of human society.

"Let's go." Uriel let out.

"You must first promise to follow the rules."

"Rules, what rules?"

"You will show respect to father. You will not turn on the lights. You will not laugh in his presence."

"I didn't agree to such conditions!" Uriel growled.

"It's too late, those are the rules and if you break them..."

"You will eat me." Uriel nodded knowingly.

"Correct. You already know my ability, but this is also for your sake. No harm will come to you if you don't do any of those things in father's presence. That's not the way..." The cryptid scolded Uriel for walking at a seemingly random direction.

"How am I supposed to know where to go without a light source? I can't see where I'm going."

"You must follow me." The cryptid said as its voice became distant.

Uriel tried his best to follow it, but its speed was too great. He pondered for a moment on whether or not he should activate his Dash skill, but although he doubted the sparks triggered by his trait would count as turning on a light he decided not to risk it.

At least he now had his legs back and he was also filled with new energy he stole from the horror level skinwalker. Keeping balance without seeing where he was going turned out to be easier than he first expected, but now he understood why Medusa started bumping into everything since she began using her blindfold.

While the mystical sense was useful for detecting energy signatures, it was mostly useless to detect objects unless they either channeled or blocked flux. If an object channeled flux it would be perceived like a nagging sensation in a particular direction and if the signal was strong enough it was even possible to determine the distance.

If on the contrary, the object blocked energy, it was possible to sense some sort of obstacle in the way and sorting it was as easy as breathing.

"You're slow, so slow." The voice echoed around him, though thanks to his mystical sense Uriel knew he was right in front of him.

"I'm doing the best I can considering I can't see a damned thing." Uriel replied in a growl.

"It's better to not see damned things, they can drive you insane." The cryptid replied in a tone that contrasted heavily with it's previous mockery and for some reason, its words triggered a headache on Uriel.

"I still can't see where I'm going."

"Grow big so you can see without eyes."

"Humans can't grow bigger like cryptids do." Uriel replied.

"They can't? I've seen them do it before." The skinwaker replied confounded.

Uriel continued running despite the headache caused by his unlikely travel companion until the landscape started to change. Of course he couldn't see it with his eyes, but he could hear distant noises and also the smell shifted. Then, he felt his flux energy being slowly confined into a small passage that despite being dark, somehow felt familiar.

"Are we near a forest or something? It smells different."

"We are here, I can't go further." The voice spoke, then vanished.

"Of course we are here, I meant... hey, are you there?" Uriel asked after realizing he couldn't feel the presence of the skinwalker anymore. In fact, he couldn't feel much of anything. The place became so silent he could feel his own hearbeat and even the smell disappeared. Then, he turned to think that maybe he was just imagining things and he was still at the foot of the mountain.

After all, his encounter with the cryptid was strange to say the least and he reached for his thigh to pinch himself, the pain confirming that he wasn't dead nor dreaming.
