Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 433: The wild girl of Lafayette Part 3
All it took for Uriel to completely lose control and start gobbling down the soft and mushy snacks was to take one bite. It wasn’t just that they were delicious, which they were, it was the fact that they had the most perfect golden color and eating them was fun.
"This is definitely worth a trite, two trites... heck I’d pay ten trites for this without problem!" Uriel genuinely smiled, under the unseen gaze of a starving creature.
The more marshmallows Uriel ate, the closer the creature got to him. The alluring smell of the sweet was too tempting and as the marshmallows were close to running out the creature got desperate and it finally showed up.
"Hey there," Uriel said as soon as he heard the slightest sound at a distance behind him, not expecting what followed. "Wow! Naked!" Uriel covered his eyes when the girl crept toward the campfire on all fours without a single piece of garment, but then he realized how dangerous it was to leave himself open for an attack for something as silly as decorum. Or so he tried to convince himself.
The girl was about the same age as Uriel and looked perfectly normal. Her hair was dark, her complexion as pale as that of a slum dweller, but contrary to them she was in shape. She was also extremely beautiful, though her right feet was twisted at a strange angle, which led him to believe she was actually the girl from the articles.
Whether or not she was a hybrid was to be determined and he carefully examined her body, trying to keep himself from looking where he shouldn’t, while the girl seemed to be doing the same.
"Do you want some?" Uriel extended one of the remaining sticks with marshmallows to the girl who immediately jumped back a few steps as though he was threatening her with a gun. She behaved just like a wild beast, she was hesitant and hostile, but Uriel remained calm and still showing her he wasn’t a threat to her.
After a while the girl sniffed the air and couldn’t help getting closer to the source of that sweet scent, she licked her lips over and over as though savouring the air, but wouldn’t come any closer.
"Well, if you don’t want them..." Uriel muttered as he attempted to grab a bite of a marshmallow, but as soon as the stick got near his mouth the girl let out a growl. He did the same repeatedly and it had the same effect, so Uriel ewxtended the stick towards her once again.
Urie was no expert on wild animals, or humans for that matter, which made it difficult for him to understand the signs she was showing. Nevertheless, a growl was pretty much an universal sign of displease.
He could have left the marshmallows in the campfire and then retreated, but that defeated the purpose of luring her. He needed to determine the girl’s nature and if she was a threat to him, or else he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.
It was already dark when he made the marshmallows, but the street was still safe. But that safety was only an illusion caused by him killing all the cryptids that dwelled in the vicinity and there was a high chance that an entity rank cryptid would pick up his energy signature if he remained there for too long.
Because of that, Uriel decided to take a risk and offer the stick to her while turning his head the other side. It was the same as putting his hand inside a lion cage, only cryptids were a thousand times more dangerous and unpredictable than wild animals.
Hesitantly, the girl walked towards the stick without taking her eyes from Uriel, ready to attack if he so much breathed too loudly. But the closer she got to the snack, the more she lowered her guard until she dropped it entirely and grabbed a bite directly from the stick. Just like Uriel, she had never had something similar in her entire life and she soon lost all control over her instincts.
Uriel couldn’t see her, but he was able to feel the stick shaking as the girl ate, until he felt something wet and warm on the tip of his fingers. Thinking that she might bite him by ’mistake’ Uriel quickly turned to see her, but she was already gone.
"Did she just lick my fingers?" Uriel wondered, completely puzzled by the girl’s behavior and then muttered to himself. "Well, I guess she’s not agressive at least. She also showed signs of intelligence, I still can’t rule out the possibility that she’s a hybrid, but she’s certainly not a cryptid."

Obviously, a cryptid would have been more interested on eating him rather than a marshmallow. He didn’t know much about hybrids, but he knew Luna really well and he knew that she sustained herself with regular human meat. If anything, she had a taste for rare meat but that wasn’t too odd. She also didn’t share that with her sister Cassandra, who didn’t even like meat that much.
After his experiment with the wild girl, Uriel felt safer enough to sleep and he retreated back to the library to see if there was anything else of value and to set his accomodations. Now that he unlocked the level 3 training, he was able to spend money on his souvenir shop with a sense of ease, knowing he would be able to get more money just by working out.
He bought himself a sleepingbag, a comfy pillow, a change of clothes, a backpack to store the maps and some books he considered useful along with the flux orbs. Then, he did something most hunters would never consider doing in the middle of an unexplored POI. Something so incredibly dangerous and risky, not even a brave man would do it, only a madman would dare.
He hell into a deep and peaceful slumber.
