Later that day, a small army unit departed from the megacity located in the swamplands. On paper, it was a rescue mission, but contrary to most rescue missions planned and executed by the army, they didn't bring any vehicles and weren't equipped with armor because it was actually an exploration.

The most important part of explorations behind enemy lines was stealth and swiftness, which is also why they didn't bring a full team.

Cassandra, Tallyman, Iris, Rusty, Young, Mayhem, Stella, Sage and Nika who was a civilian. Those were the only members of the unit and they all had their roles to play. Stella was the specialist sent to help Medusa in repairing the Pegasus since she used to belong to the Mapple corp and was their only engineer with any experience in zeppelins.

Tallyman was in charge of security and Iris was tasked with keeping communications open since her trait allowed her to speak to anyone in the vicitiniy.

Usually, Cassandra would have been at the leading position, but this time it fell upon Uriel's shoulders since he was the only one who managed to cross the wetlands and he also knew more or less the direction where the zeppelin crashed, but Cassandra was still in charge of the strategic decisions.

The only one who wasn't under her command was Nika, since she was a civilian, but she was under Uriel's command and he tasked her with his safety.

It wasn't that he couldn't protect himself, but he didn't want to show his varied abilities in front of people.

It had nothing to do with his power since his physical prowess was about an average Heavenly rank hunter, but everyone knew that people could only possess one trait and he couldn't explain why he was able to summon so many different objects and use a skill like dash which was completely unrelated to summoning.

The only members who didn't play any role or had any assignments were the troublemakers. They were known to be unruly and querulous, but that wasn't the reason why Cassandra's only command was to follow them in silence. It was because currently they were of absolutely no use to the army.

Young refused to fight, which was the whole purpose of the army. Mayhem was relatively competent, but her mischievous character had costed the life of more than one soldier which made her worthless. Rusty's case was different since not even when he was at his best did he possess any value to the army since he refused to follow orders or respect the chain of comand.

Now that he was a cripple, he was nothing but a hindrance to the rest of the unit and Young had to carry him on her back like baggage.

But they all had incredible potential, not just for the army but also for humanity. Their traits were extremely rare and Cassandra hoped that by bringing them along they would somehow turn into more suitable soldiers because, if there was one thing she knew about Uriel was that problems followed him wherever he went.

The first part of the trip was easy to traverse the shallow waters without even getting their feet wet, but not long after they were once again submerged into water and unsurprisingly, the troublemakers began complaining.

"I can't believe this level of cruelty! Forcing a crippled man to come on an incursion without so much as a vehicle!" Young voiced out.

"I'm sorry about that." Said Rusty with a dejected tone of voice. The fact that his career as a soldier had come to an end had yet to sink in on his head, but he felt bad to drag her friend along with him.

"It's not your fault, we all know whose fault is this." Young adressed a spiteful glare at Colonel sword, unaware of the fact that heavenly rank hunters were able to perceive such gestures.

"Less chatting and more walking." Was all Cassandra said in reply as she was too worried about their field of view reducing at a fast pace as the vegetation became more abundant, but as time passed she relaxed a little. It wasn't just that they hadn't encountered any cryptids yet, but something about Uriel's calm demeanor soothed her even though they were heading directly into no man's land.

Bewcause of the vegetation, even before sunset the place was already dark and as soon as they found some dry land Cassandra commanded them to make camp. As usual, the lowest ranking members of the units were the ones responsible for setting it. They weren't too happy about that, at least until Mayhem noticed an opportunity.

"let's see how he like this." She mumbled as she rummaged through Uriel's backpack when no one was looking, with the intention of cutting his socks or his underwear. Whatever made his life miserable would be worth it, even if it meant being punished.

"What are you doing?" Nika asked as she crept out of the shadows.

"I- huh? I'm just," She was about to say whatever excuse that came to mind, but then decided to be honest since on her mind she was imparting justice. "I wanted to play a joke on Lieutenant Sage. What about it?"

"Oh, nothing... I was just curious." Nika shrugged and disappeared again on the shadows leaving Mayhem perplexed, yet after a few seconds she proceeded with her personal mission.

"A cowboy hat?" She said when she found Jon's fedora on his backpack, though she wasn't aware of its importance. "What's all this? He doesn't even have spare underwear! This is just books and the weird stuff we collected on our incursion." She let out a dejected sigh.

"You know, he hates bugs more than anything." Nika's voice came from the shadows with a mischievous giggle.

Mayhem's face lit up thinking back at the moment where she met Uriel and remembering that he only got mad when she mentioned the possibility of putting a scorpion on his sleepingbag that he got mad.

Nika watched the huntress disappear on the forest, probably looking for the nastiest insect she could possibly find. She giggled at the thought of the face Uriel would make when he found such a critter on his sleepingbag.

As time passed she giggled some more, but after fifteen minutes she didn't laugh anymore as the realization of how dangerous separating from the group was and that she had no alternative but to inform Uriel.
