Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 358: Awkward
The short time Medusa spent with the doppelganger was way more intense than the months many she spent with Uriel, or even the last couple weeks as a couple. It wasn’t just the physical aspect, the impersonator behaved just how Medusa wanted Uriel to be: Open, intimate and vulnerable.
The man who was standing in front of her now was anything but that, she could almost feel the emotional wall Uriel built to protect himself and the heavy contrast with the shapeshifting creature made her realize that no matter what she did, things will never be the same with Uriel.
"There’s something I need to tell you," Uriel blurted out sending butterflies on Medusa’s belly, though what followed wasn’t what she expected. "put on some clothes please, I’m not made of steel!"
"You jackass!" Medusa said as she turned around wondering if she was better off with the hybrid, but then she shook off her head. It wasn’t Uriel’s appearance that drew her to him, it wasn’t his character even, it was his actions.
From the very first time she met him, he showed respect for her when no one else did. He didn’t openly judge her for her looks and he had saved her life more than once. In fact, even now, without the crucifix he gave her she would have fallen hook, line and sinker in the hybrid’s trap.
She let out a sigh and mustered all the self confidence she gained in herself since she became a hunter. She then dropped both her arms to the side and turned back around, top naked and blushing like a tomato with the intention to seduce Uriel, but he was nowhere to be found.

"That was dangerous, really dangerous..." Uriel said with a jagged breath placing a hand over his chest to calm himself. Now that Water warlock abandoned him, he recovered the ’Lewd Ladies’ collector’s edition magazine and as soon as she turned her back its ability triggered, making him realize he was in deep trouble.
It was the first time he saw her body measurements and he was shocked by her proportions, but that wasn’t the reason why he was so flustered. Those were just numbers and they didn’t mean anything to him.
It was because that artifact would only activate if Uriel looked at someone with lust and he knew what would have happened between them had he stayed just a couple more minutes, but that would keep him from ever entering the sacred grounds of Xibalbá which was the only way to find out what happened to Water warlock’s lost civilization.
He didn’t care about Water warlock anymore and even his archaeological curiosity wasn’t enough to get him to give up on spending ’quality time’ with Medusa. But there was a reason why he couldn’t let that happen.
He knew that no matter how he tried to reason with Sam, now that he was under Water warlock’s influence it wouldn’t make a difference, which meant that the only way to get Sam to listen to him was to get Water warlock back. Accomplishing something like that was beyond difficult, near impossible even, because for that he needed Water warlock to agree to come back to him on his own volition.

But Uriel had a bargaining chip, one that could potentially convince Water warlock not just to come back to him, but maybe to move on and stop interfering on his life. He was an expert on the field of archaeology.
It was a forgotten career path, even before the arrival, because of the Mapple corporation’s project that uncovered all the archaeological sites. That not only made it more difficult for Sam to find any experts on ancient history, but gave Uriel an edge over him on the investigation.

For that reason, Uriel couldn’t give in to his carnal desires, no matter how much he longed for it. Even if he knew that it would have probably fixed whatever issues he and Medusa had in their relationship, he also knew that it would have been only a temporary fix and the only way to really be with her was to sort his own issues first.
Now he was homeless again, but instead of being distraught and aimless like a lost puppy, he knew exactly what he needed to do and he was determined to do whatever it took to accomplish it. The power of his drive was so immense, he didn’t care how literally titanic his task at hand was, he was set on doing it on his own.
The first step was to get back on his feet, he didn’t want to become a charity case or rely on his friends. If things were different, he would have needed to get a job like the one he had on the Starborgs, but he was a hunter and he was also able to get the equivalent to 11k credits a day just by performing physical training.
However, that was far from what he needed and there was only one thing someone like him could do to get quick cash.
He needed to find cryptids to hunt, while staying under the radar of those who wanted him dead and that was a long list. Especially now that he knew there were many doppelgangers lurking in the east district, but there was no point in hunting them since they didn’t drop flux orbs after dying.
That meant that unless they messed with his plans or his friends, he had no reason to hunt them, but it also meant that he had to be more careful in the future.
To prevent being impersonated again, Uriel started wearing his gas mask outside and while it couldn’t be said that he didn’t draw many curious gazes by the people passing by, seeing hunters wearing masks wasn’t rare and the reason why he stood up was because there weren’t many hunters in the slums.
With a determined look on his face, Uriel rushed to the most dangerous place in the slums, right next to the wall.
