Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 72: The Death Weavers Mate I
The moment Sylvie's eyes focused on his mana, she noticed not the hand she held but his right hand, which constantly undulated with a powerful magic aura.
"You see, I do this to practise my mana control. Sylvie."
A black flame swirled around his fingertips, growing with each revolution.
Sylvie's lips parted as she started to pant. Her heart raced at the sight, and she stared at him in complete shock.
'His magic is forming without a chant!'
"Erina, that guy seducing Sylvie with magic, she looks like she's about to climax."
Asuka's eyes narrowed as she watched her former friend while feeling a fiery ball form in her abdomen. The more she watched the pair, the more annoyed she became. The enchanted look on Sylvie's face while watching Leonhardt cast magic made her jealous.
"Do you think so? It's just Sylvie's never had someone who understood her before, you know that right Asuka. She isn't trying to take Leon from you."
"It's not that…"
'How can I tell Erina it's because I want to do these things with him…'
Her gaze lingered on her axe, gritting her teeth before she focused on the vast sphere of black flames at the tip of Leonhardt's fingers.
A swirling black mass of fire rotated at the tip of his finger, growing with each cycle of mana that travelled from his Djinn heart to his Fae heart and then back to his hand.
"Sylvie, this spell is called Cinderblast, a high-powered fire-type spell normally with a blue flame."
"…"
He didn't mind her not responding because the hand gripping his so tightly let him know just how invested she became in the spell and movement of magic.
"Now, let's show you how powerful I am."

Ba-Dump!
Sylvie's chest pounded. Leonhardt's body surged with an unbelievable amount of mana. His eyes shone with two beautiful pentagram-shaped pupils.
'Beautiful…'
A vortex of black fire coiled at his fingertip, spiralling with each pulse of mana as it cycled between his Djinn heart and Fae heart, growing hotter, denser—hungry. It roared in silence, a captive storm waiting for release.
"Sylvie, this is Cinderblast—fire refined to near perfection."
The orb burst forth like a raging bull. A breathless pause filled Sylvia's throat—then black fire erupted, spiralling outward in a violent blaze.
The dome filled with a violent and brutal heat as it tore through the webbing, melting them into mist. The ground rumbled and cracked before the inferno expanded and rapidly collapsed, leaving a smouldering crater in its wake.
BOOM!
"It's hot!"
"Wow."
Sylvie's eyes shone like shattered gemstones illuminated by the raging flames. Her mouth was agape as she stepped forward, her hand extended towards the flame. Her soft lips dragged apart silently mouthing the words.
'I can feel it! The mana inside my body, it's so clear now.' Sylvie's heart pounded, the icy blood mana flowing through her veins towards her fingertips like a cold winter's lake.
Crack!
Leonhardt's eyes widened, able to see the atmosphere around the elven mage freezing the sweat on her skin and liquid in the surrounding air. 'She's quite talented...'
"Asuka, Erina prepare for battle! The spiders are coming from above. Keep the door locked, and don't allow them to overwhelm us."
His low voice resonated through the caves as the spiders abandoned their attempt to ambush the group and rushed across the ceiling towards the entrance.
"Sylvie, use Ice wall!"
Sylvie's shoulders shuddered the moment Leonhard's voice entered her ears. She closed her eyes and parted her lips, releasing a lovely melodic voice, almost like a song.
I call upon the spirits of ice, cast your bitter winds and seal my enemies in a wall of ice. " Ice Wall!"
A low shriek echoed from the depths after the luminous blue ice encased the doorway, forming a small opening roughly a meter wide.
"It seems the brood's mate is enraged, we should prepare to fight."
"Leonhardt..." Sylvie's fingertips tingled as she watched the blue motes of magic flowing from her hand, focused into a single place.
'I've never cast a spell so easily in my life and I used less than half the mana... who are you Leonhardt?'
Her gaze lingered on the man holding her hand before she shook her head and focused on the task at hand. Although she wanted to remain beside him, Sylvie knew Leon needed to fight without a burden.
The first spider crawled through the narrow gap, falling right into Asuka's slash. Her blade severed its head, and she used the momentum to spin her body away from the splatter of green acid-like blood.
Sylvie released the hands of Leonhardt, as she focused on the sensation of mana within her, like grasping at sand without his help, yet she wanted to keep trying.
"Haha! Take that."

"Behind you Asuka...!" Erina said with a concerned voice before she watched Leonhardt's body dart forward, his steps bouncing off the floor, boosting his speed, while a blue ball of flames in his left hand.
Bang!
"Fire Bolt!"
The force of the explosion pushed back the spider that had leapt towards Asuka's back. Its legs twitched in mid-air, and it landed dead on the ground.
His body moved quickly, moving between the girls. He cut down the spiders with a quick swipe of his sword or burned them with a blast of fire.
"Water bolt!"
Sylvie's eyes widened as she panted, but a beautiful bolt of water shot from her fingertip and pierced the abdomen of a spider, stopping it from advancing. The magic felt different—more fluid, easier to grasp, but harder to control.
'So much waste!'
She told herself this, but the heat boiling within her icy blood made her cheeks turn pink. Leonhardt's mana still flowed within her body, causing the mana outside her body to be more responsive.
'Is this how he controls mana? It feels incredible!'
"Asuka, Leonhardt, careful a big one is coming!"
Erina's voice called out as one of the larger spiders crawled through the gap, landing behind Asuka.
She wanted to step forward and fight with them, but Leon told her to sit this battle out, causing her chest to race in fear.
"Asuka!"
The tall, red-haired woman spun around and brought up her axe just in time to block a set of vicious fangs, but the force knocked her backwards.
"Shit...!"
Leonhardt rushed forward, grabbing her shoulder and pushing her out of harm's way while facing the enormous spider alone. He looked over his shoulder, spotting several smaller spiders rushing through the hole and attacking Erina and Sylvie.
Without wasting time, his left hand pointed to the opening while his right hand lifted his greatsword.
"Fire Wall!"
A jet of flame shot from his palm, sealing the hole in the ice wall. With a quick breath, he swung his sword toward the monstrous arachnid, slicing off two legs with ease.
Clang!
'Shallow... these big ones are troublesome.' Leon thought to himself as he sidestepped another ferocious bite, sliding closer to Sylvie and Erina.
"Asuka, crush the big one, I'll protect the others."
A chaotic battle started, with Leonhard changing between vanguard and mudguard, protecting Asuka and the others while helping them adapt to fighting monsters like the Death Weaver.
He didn't know whether it was because of their group leader, but their skills in hunting non-humanoids seemed abysmal.
"I beseech you, spirits of water. Obey me! Frost barrage!"
Sylvie's chants grew shorter.
The time between casting spells also decreased as she started moving and then casting to avoid being in a dangerous position.
'All the things I've told her, she's already picking them up?'
Sylvie used the last of her mana a long time ago.
However, thanks to the connection created earlier when he grasped her hand and connected to her mana core. Leonhardt shared his mana with her, allowing the raging inferno inside his core to cool from the frigid mana that lingered in Sylvie's small body.
'I'm not losing my cool... it seems she's worth hiring after all.'
His sword collided with a larger spider before his hand tapped the spider's head, and a searing black flame devoured it. "Asuka, prepare yourself the Broodmother's Mate is coming!"
CRACK!
A sound similar to shattered glass echoed through the cave as a massive spider, almost three metres tall, with elongated legs over five metres.
Leonhardt could see the magic radiating from the creature. Its carapace glowed with a dark blue aura, and its mandibles dripped with a deadly toxin.
"Prepare for the real deal, Erina if anyone gets bitten or pricked... heal them with Anti-venom first!"
The Death Weavers seemed to have a different ecology compared to normal spiders... and the Brood mother only mated with this one spider.
Massive, and one size bigger than the other males... and there was no doubt in Leonhardt's mind that this creature would be far more cunning than the rest.
It stared at the group with large bulbous eyes, scanning each one of them before focusing on Leonhardt.
'Can it judge a person's strength?'
The spider seemed to ignore the other women for some strange reason, causing Leonhardt's eyes to narrow.
"Hisss!"
