Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 46: The Sly Chimera
Leonhardt's gaze lingered on the burning pile of flesh, dead wolves and two humans flowing into his body thanks to the dungeon system. He knew the pair died instantly, giving him a sense of relief.
'I wish the archer died too…'
He sucked the warm, bitter air while thinking back to the one who insulted Asuka most, but his eyes suddenly twitched and Leonhardt became confused.
"Why did I get so angry?"
"I know he deserved it… But that was me, wasn't it?" Leonhardt shook his head with a bitter smile.
The emotions of a human caused Leonhardt to doubt himself for a moment before he turned and walked back to the carriage, with his sword hanging low, covered in wolf blood.
'Those guys will be angry.'
Asuka leaned against the carriage, pressing her lips together as she waited for him to arrive.
Her brows knitted as she frowned at the camp where the merchants thanked the remaining members of the guard and adventurer group.
"Asuka, how was it?" Leon called out, raising his arm while curling his lips into a smirk as his gaze followed hers. It was as if he were expecting something, but he knew what she had done without even having to ask.
The pale faces on the others confirmed it.
"Leon, did everything go well?" Her eyes flicked around his figure, curious about where the other two members were.
"Yeah, the wolves have been dealt with." He grinned before slamming his back beside her, taking a deep breath.
"You didn't have any trouble then?"
"None."
"What about the others? Did those guys give you any trouble?" Leonhardt's eyes narrowed, his voice low and cold. She nodded at his words and glanced away from the merchants as they left their area with quickened steps.
Asuka didn't seem too bothered, huffing to herself. "Well, the usual."
"I don't see why they don't understand how beautiful your scales are…" Leon muttered while closing his eyes, taking a moment to check what he gained from killing the humans and wolves.

The cooling warmth of reaching a new level filled Leonhardt's body.
A new feature of his current body was the ability to delay the increase in his attributes. Although he couldn't change the distribution of his growth, he could choose when to suffer the slight pain.
"Phew… My Intellect increased to Rank B, how interesting."
Because the dungeon became more active, his dungeon points constantly increased, and he grew closer to the limit of his current size. But once he started working on the size, his dungeon rank would increase, and Zafira seemed a little eager to do that.

'Maybe I should speak with her.'
"S-Sorry for the delay, we will start moving again soon, Sir Leonhardt."
"Hm?"
Leon didn't notice when, but the merchant leader approached him with an apologetic face, while the leader of the group of guards scowled at him with the archer beside him.
'What's going on?'
"Ah, don't worry about it." The old man started calling Leon with such respect because of Mabel's wife.
Suddenly, the male behind him called out. "Hey! Have you seen Dave or Lucas?"
The filthy adventurer's eyes glared at him, and Leon felt as if the person looked down upon him.
Amused by their confidence, Leon curled his lips into a wolfish smirk.
"You must be talking about the guys who died…"
"WHAT?!"
At the same time Leonhardt spoke up, one guard reached for his sword, and suddenly shouted, "You bastard!" But Asuka moved between them, staring at him sharply.
"Watch your mouth!" She barked before clenching her greatsword tighter. She became protective of Leonhardt, which he found amusing.
"Hah? The hell did you just say to me? You filthy fucking lizard." The guard growled, but he wasn't brave enough to stand up to her when she glared at him, her sword slamming into the ground.
There wasn't a word in his sentence that could have offended him, anyway. However, before things could escalate further, the merchant leader tried to intervene.
"P-Please calm down and stop this nonsense…"
"Nonsense?" The Adventurer didn't think it was nonsense and continued, "Dave is dead, right? Because you asked them to leave and hunt those beasts." He gritted his teeth and growled in an accusatory tone, but Leonhardt only listened quietly with a faint smile on his lips.
'Yes, the beasts killed them both~ of course.'
Because the head merchant stepped forward, all the angry adventurers could do was whisper insults and leave the area.
Asuka's tail lashed the ground, creating a deep crater with each loud thud.
"Calm down, Asuka."
"But he disrespected you so easily."
"What disrespect did I hear?" A smirk lingered on Leonhardt's face as he watched her, making her pause. He then leaned closer, stroking her cheek. The warmth of her body emanated through his palm, and his cold skin warmed to the touch.
Asuka's emotions swirled and intertwined like leaves floating along the wind. One minute, her cheeks flushed, and the next, she furrowed her brow in annoyance before finally yielding. "I understand, but I hate that they blamed you."
"Yeah," he chuckled, pulling away from her. "But thanks for trying to protect me, even though I am not weak."
"Hmph. I know."
Silence settled between them for a moment as they stared at each other.
Suddenly, the carriage door opened, and a frowning Erina appeared with folded arms while looking between them. Her icy glare pierced their bodies, sending chills down their spines despite the heat of the day.
"Is everything over now?" Erina grumbled, rolling her eyes and walking up to Leonhardt. "Can I come out, now?"
"No."
"Why?!"
"Because we're setting off in a few moments, there's no time to get off now," Leonhardt said with a serious expression, causing Erina's gaze to narrow.
"But you're still standing out here?"
"We will come inside soon, there's something we needed to speak about." His words caused Asuka's and Erina's cheeks to flush for a different reason.
"I-I'll wait for you inside… Don't take too long." Erina gulped before scurrying back inside, leaving the two alone.
Slam!
The door closed with a loud noise, causing Asuka and Leonhardt to chuckle. "Why is she acting so strange?" Her question caused Leon to tap his chin.
'Well…'
He stepped closer, the slight scent of sweat and her natural fragrance filling his nose, before he whispered, "They saw what we did last night."
"W-What?"
"Well, I wasn't thinking properly, and the door was open, haha."
He shrugged at the memory of the drunken night, but Asuka's cheeks and scales became a darker red, as her body trembled visibly.
"D-does everyone know?!" The poor dragonoid's voice twisted into a squeak because of her embarrassment, but Leon smiled, unable to resist his curiosity and a playful thought.
"They both knew and saw everything."
Leon's hand stroked her cheek, the contrast between her smooth scales and soft skin tickled his fingertips. Her expression relaxed slightly as she breathed in deeply.
"T-they did?"
Even her tone softened from the soothing sensation his caress brought. Her tension slowly melted away as the gentle touch calmed her nerves. Each stroke seemed to gently melt away the worries plaguing her mind.
"It is fine—they were too embarrassed to say anything. Let's go back inside, the journey has just started."
"Nn…" She puffed her cheeks, still not entirely convinced. Asuka glanced up at Leon, but Leon noticed the look in her eyes. Her pupils flickered with uncertainty as she bit her lower lips seductively.
"What, do you want to kiss again?"
Her eyes widened, her pupils constricting as she took a step back before covering her face. "Y-you can't just ask me that!" And then she spun around, slamming the carriage door open, entering without a word.
