Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Midnight Knocking

Oliver Hughes drank quite a bit, and Allan Season, worried, followed to drive for him.

Ever since he had teamed up with Sienna Warren to mess with Bella Woods and ended up in trouble himself, Allan had been warned by the Season Family to stay in line with Oliver and avoid any more chaos, or no one could save him.

"Young Master Oliver, why not..." Allan looked at Oliver clutching a wrench, hesitating.

"You just wait downstairs," Oliver couldn’t be bothered with Allan’s words, pushed the car door open, and headed towards the apartment complex.

It was late at night, the security guards were dozing off, and the area was silent except for Oliver storming through with the wrench.

He had never been to Bella Woods’ new home but always knew which building and floor it was.

He went straight into the building, took the elevator to Bella’s new apartment floor.

After confirming her apartment number, Oliver raised the wrench to smash the keypad lock.

Once, and again.

He struck hard, aided by the large size of the wrench, the impact was strong, and after a few blows, the lock fell, and the door automatically opened.

Oliver pulled the door open and walked inside, only to have a stick come swinging at his head. Reacting quickly, he dodged it, the stick hitting the wall light switch, and the lights came on brightly.

Bella Woods, wielding the stick, widened her eyes: "Oliver Hughes!"

Awoken by the commotion outside, Bella had grabbed a stick for self-defense, not expecting it to be Oliver.

She figured, given the circumstances, what thief would brazenly make such a racket breaking down a door.

"Oliver Hughes, what on earth is wrong with you?"

Realizing the situation, Bella questioned Oliver: "It’s the middle of the night, why are you breaking my door?"

Oliver looked at Bella, ignoring her, and headed straight to the bedroom.

"Oliver Hughes!"

Bella hurried after him, not understanding what had gotten into Oliver at such an hour.

And upon reaching the bedroom, she watched Oliver rummage around, finally opening a drawer to find a bunch of cond**s, falling silent. When he turned to glare at Bella, his expression seemed to want to tear her to pieces.

As if Bella had done something to betray him.

"Where is he?" Oliver gritted his teeth and demanded.

"What are you talking about?"

"You still don’t understand what I’m saying? You’re feigning ignorance, aren’t you?" Oliver sneered, "Alright, I’ll ask plainly."

Oliver pointed to the drawer contents and questioned, "Where is the man using these?"

"Oliver Hughes, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Besides, we agreed that I will officially become your sister next week, did you forget?"

Bella reminded Oliver.

Their relationship was no longer what it used to be, now it didn’t matter if she had someone outside or even changed boyfriends daily, it had nothing to do with Oliver.

And Bella’s words seemed to sober Oliver up halfway.

He turned around, took a deep breath, tousled his hair.

Facing Bella again, not as aggressively confrontational as before, he softened his tone: "Yes, I see you as my sister now. But I’m worried you’ll get mixed up with some low-lifes, so I came to check on you. Where is this man staying at your place, eating your food?"

"I want to ask him properly, what gives him the right to take advantage of my sister Bella Woods like this."

Oliver barging in at midnight to question her greatly annoyed Bella.

But with him calling her his sister, Bella found it hard to be harsh.

"I’ve discussed this with Aunt Cyan," Bella could only avoid answering directly, "I’ll introduce him to her over dinner sometime."

"So, you’re saying I have no right to interfere?" Oliver sneered.

That’s exactly what Bella meant, but she couldn’t say it out loud: "I know you’re worried about me, but it’s late, and you broke my door, and I already called the police..."

"Someone called the police just now?"

Just as Bella finished speaking, an unfamiliar man’s voice came from outside the door.

"The police are here," Bella said, "You’ll have to come out and explain."

Oliver didn’t say a word, just followed Bella outside.

Two or three uniformed police officers looked cautiously at the door that had been smashed, and were quite surprised to see Bella and Oliver walk out one after the other.

"Sorry, I’m her brother. I heard there was a man deceiving her, and in my haste, I barged in," Oliver explained before Bella could speak.

The police exchanged glances, then looked at Bella.

"Look at her, she looks so young and naive, she’s easily deceived."

As he spoke, Oliver handed over his ID to the police: "Do you really think someone with my identity needs to break in?"

Oliver’s name alone on the ID was enough proof.

In this city, Oliver Hughes, the eldest son of the Hughes Family, was known as a notorious playboy, infamous for his bad temper.

He had made the news several times previously due to his racing club escapades, so his reputation was quite large.

After checking the ID, the police returned it: "Since it’s a misunderstanding, we won’t intrude. Just curious, when did the Hughes Family gain a daughter?"

Oliver chuckled and, putting his arm around Bella’s shoulder, said: "She was my fiancée, said she didn’t like me, but my mom really likes her, so she was taken in as a goddaughter. Any problem with that?"

"No problem, if there’s nothing else, we won’t disturb you."

Finished speaking, the police left.

Bella never spoke a word, mostly because it was hard to say anything.

Oliver had shown his identity; if she said more, it would affect the Hughes Family’s reputation.

She didn’t care about Oliver as a person, but Daniel Hughes and Cyan Marshall were people she had to consider.

After the police left, Bella stepped forward a couple of steps, distancing herself from Oliver.

"The person you’re looking for isn’t here, Young Master Oliver should go back and rest early," Bella’s tone was rather cold.

"Bella Woods, do you know what you’re doing?" Oliver stared at Bella: "Choosing him is a slap to my father and mother’s face."

These words instantly made Bella’s face go pale, staring at Oliver: "What did you say?"

"I’m saying, I know who you’re with," Oliver stepped closer to Bella: "I counted everything, except I never thought you would be with him.

Bella Woods, you’re truly crazy. If you’d just picked some random old man I might’ve let it slide, but choosing him, you’re absolutely insane!"

"Or is it that you think choosing him is the real way to get back at me?"

Bella retreated step by step, unable to answer.

He knew?

Did he know about her and Ashton Marshall?

"How, how do you know?" Bella couldn’t help but ask.

She thought carefully; the matter between her and Ashton Marshall was hidden well. Even if the Hughes Family knew, Oliver shouldn’t have known.
