Dump My Ex, Dive into Love with His Billionaire Uncle-Chapter 174: Crying secretly? Missing you!
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Crying secretly? Missing you!
"What I mean is..." Calvin Marshall carefully recalled, "Before I called you, I saw you standing at that spot, around the corner, a silhouette that seemed like my third brother’s, but it was just a glance from behind, and then he left without stopping."
"I think I must have been mistaken, right?" Calvin still believed it wasn’t Ashton Marshall: "Given my third brother’s temperament, seeing you with a guy, especially being so close to Ethan Marshall, he’d definitely be angry and come over to take you away, not just turn and leave."
"Because what’s between him and me isn’t exactly a romance, leaving is normal, maybe he got annoyed or tired of it," Bella Woods blurted out.
Rationally, she thought if Ashton Marshall was tired of it, found her annoying or indecent, it was fine.
After all, when they first met, she was a bit indecent too.
She barged into his room, mistaking him for a male prostitute, and even wanted to ’keep’ him, clearly not a girl from a reputable family.
But while rationally thinking so, Bella’s heart still felt a painful ache, like a dull knife scratching her skin, unable to cut through, just feeling dry and painful, uncomfortable.
"Why don’t you ask my third brother, to see if it’s a misunderstanding and explain?" Calvin tentatively asked.
Bella shook her head, "No need."
She had already mentioned to Cyan Marshall about going abroad with her help, likely after Oliver Hughes’s birthday party.
If things ended with Ashton Marshall now, it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for her.
"Let’s go, let’s continue playing," Bella said, smiling, as she pulled Calvin towards the lively center.
Calvin looked at Bella’s smiling face, feeling there was something on her mind, so she thought for a moment and still tried to advise, "I think no matter what kind of feelings, it’s better not to have misunderstandings. Explain if you can; if not, at least try to gauge the other person’s stance?"
"I think sometimes misunderstandings can be good, saving a lot of trouble," Bella remarked with a smile.
Calvin wanted to say more, but pursed her lips, choosing in the end to say nothing.
Some things, she was neither qualified nor had the standing to say too much about.
"Alright, we got separated earlier, didn’t get to have fun with you—now I’ll ensure you have a good time," Calvin said with a smile. "As for the computer friend matter, I’ll help you get in contact."
No matter what decision Bella made, at least for now, Calvin could solve her troubles and have a good time with her.
Bella happily dragged Calvin to go play.
After finishing, Calvin took Bella to a bar street for a few drinks, and after one o’clock at night, the designated driver first sent Bella home, then drove Calvin back.
When Bella got home, she leaned on the sofa, feeling overwhelmed by the alcohol, her mind somewhat fuzzed, feeling uncomfortable overall.
"Uncle."
She nearly instinctively called out, with a hint of a whimper, "Uncle, I feel sick."
She grabbed a pillow, curling up on the sofa.
Out of habit, ever since she lived in this place, whenever she felt unwell, that man would always appear and take meticulous care of her.
Every time Bella was held in his arms, surrounded by his comforting scent and feeling his warmth, she’d always feel a deep sense of security.
But usually, one call would make the other respond; today, even after two calls, there was no response.
Annoyed, Bella shouted, "Uncle! I’m feeling awful!"
"Uncle..."
She sat up from the sofa, looking at the dark, cold living room, which made her clear-headed, realizing according to what Calvin had said, Ashton might have seen her interacting with Ethan and got irritated, probably wouldn’t care about her.
"He might not come back..."
Bella mumbled.
Whether it was the alcohol talking or something else, her emotions got out of control, tears quickly welling up in her eyes.
She couldn’t bear it.
Couldn’t bear to part with Ashton Marshall, couldn’t stand going their separate ways.
Couldn’t handle going abroad alone.
She hoped he’d always be in her world.
Always, always there.
Bella sniffled, feeling terribly wronged, clutching the pillow, curling up on the sofa, continually rubbing her face against it, seemingly only that way could wipe away her tears.
Only slowly, bit by bit, ease the pain in her heart.
Yet no matter how she tried, it seemed she couldn’t rub it away, her heart persistently aching.
Finally, not initially crying, unknown if too aggrieved or sensing the forthcoming parting, combined with the empty living room, she just let herself cry openly.
She wasn’t someone who used to easily release bad emotions.
But being with Ashton Marshall, whether happy or unhappy, he’d always guide her to the right outlets for her emotions, not let her feel awkwardly upset.
Now deep down, she was genuinely upset, hence crying openly.
She was naturally a sensitive child, and sensitive children naturally cry if sad.
The more Bella thought about it, the sadder she became, leading to more intense sobbing.
Just as she was crying unrestrainedly, the previously dark living room suddenly illuminated, causing Bella to freeze momentarily.
She quickly sat up on the sofa, and upon seeing the man who walked in through the door, she was immediately struck dumb.
The man in a white shirt, slightly crumpled, his face expressionless, but still that stunning visage, bearing traces of fatigue from a busy day at work.
"Bella Woods?" Ashton Marshall just looked at her, raising an eyebrow, "What are you secretly crying about?"
Bella, tears streaming down her face, stared at Ashton, unsure if she was still drunk and dreaming, pinched her leg hard, the pain making her cry more.
She said nothing, merely staring at Ashton.
Ashton closed the door, used the hand sanitizer, and walked over to scoop her into his arms.
He sat down, letting Bella sit on his lap, taking tissues to wipe her face.
"What’s making you cry alone?" Ashton asked her.
Bella sniffled, murmuring, "I thought you wouldn’t come back."
"Hmm?" Ashton raised an eyebrow, "Seeing you sneak out with Sixty today, you thought I’d ignore you?"
Bella said nothing, just looking at him, couldn’t help but reach out to pinch Ashton’s face.
Ashton took her hand down, "Do you know, if it were anyone else pinching my face, what the consequences would be?"
"I just wanted to see if it’s real," Bella blurted out.
"You know, there are other ways to test."
"Other ways?"
"Mmm."
Ashton raised an eyebrow, pointing to his lips.
Bella understood the hint, cradled his face, and kissed him, though it wasn’t gentle; instead, she bit Ashton’s lip.
Ashton yelped in pain, pinched Bella’s cheek, "Little one, you’ve got some nerve, biting instead of kissing, hmm?"
"If you feel pain, then it’s real," Bella reasoned.
"You know what price you have to pay for that?" Ashton squinted dangerously, a barely visible smile tugging at his mouth.
