Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Tsundere Child, Throwing a Tantrum

When Bella Woods took out her phone, Tessa Sutton hurriedly grabbed her wrist.

"What’s wrong?" Bella asked, puzzled.

Tessa smiled awkwardly and pushed Bella’s phone back into her pocket. "I don’t think there’s any need to call about this."

"Why not?" Bella countered, "Since you said this was something the Third Young Master told you, you should just ask him directly."

Tessa licked her lips. "This is about showing emotional maturity. Generally, smart people don’t ask the person involved so directly about these things.

How would you want the Third Young Master to respond? If you admit it, it might seem like you’re overstepping.

If you don’t admit it, then I can’t explain myself properly."

Tessa’s expression grew more serious as she spoke. "Bella, I think you’re not careful enough about these things. You should change your mindset."

"I’m only 18," Bella suddenly interjected.

Tessa didn’t understand, "What?"

"I just became an adult recently. Isn’t it normal that I’m immature?" Bella replied matter-of-factly.

"That’s why I’m teaching you; some things don’t need to be said so bluntly. You should learn that."

"Do you know the greatest thing about being 18?" Bella shrugged off Tessa’s hand, smiling, and gave the answer herself, "It’s not listening to advice at all." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Tessa was speechless, unsure how to respond to Bella’s words.

She realized that Bella was not as simple as she seemed, and was unpredictable and difficult to control.

"Sorry, I was too hasty in trying to set you up with Oliver," Tessa chose to apologize, hoping to settle the matter, so Bella wouldn’t go to Ashton Marshall for confirmation.

"I won’t do anything like that again. I invited you here today mainly so you could enjoy my birthday party," Tessa added.

Bella didn’t press the issue further, "I mainly came to give you a gift and blessings. Now that I have, I think it’s time for me to go back."

She paused, "My boyfriend is still waiting for me."

"You have a boyfriend?" Tessa was surprised, instinctively glancing over toward Oliver Hughes.

"Yeah, since after breaking up with Oliver," Bella replied. "I just messaged him, and he should be at the door in about two or three minutes. I have to go."

"Let me have someone see you off," Tessa offered.

"No need," Bella said politely, "Happy birthday."

Tessa didn’t press further and watched Bella leave.

As Bella headed toward the door, she happened to pass Oliver, who was leaving his seat and walking toward her.

When they brushed past each other, Bella acted as if she didn’t see him.

"Getting along quite well with the old man?" Oliver suddenly spoke up.

Bella stopped and politely asked, "Young Master Oliver, is there something you need?"

"Mocking me?" Oliver’s face instantly darkened.

"If there’s nothing else, Young Master Oliver, I’ll be leaving. Enjoy your time today, Young Master Oliver."

Oliver suddenly grabbed Bella’s wrist, his face sour as he glared at her, "I wish you and the old man a long and happy life together."

"Thanks for your blessing, Young Master Oliver," Bella shook off his grip and walked forward without looking back.

Oliver watched Bella’s back with a displeased expression.

Allan Season, who had been watching for a long while, finally came over. "Young Master Oliver, I’ve had some friends look into it, but we couldn’t find any information about the man behind Bella Woods."

Oliver shot a glare at Allan, "Is that all you’re capable of? Can’t even find out about one person in Peace City?"

Allan didn’t dare to answer back.

Ever since the engagement party incident, his relationship with Oliver had become more delicate.

Although the Season family and Holly Watson’s family distanced themselves and pushed all the blame onto Sienna Warren, Allan and Holly had a difficult time afterward.

Holly was grounded.

And Allan’s cousin Tim Season didn’t care about him at all, so he could only play humble to gain some favor from Oliver; otherwise, he couldn’t survive in the Peace City’s elite circle.

"I’ll have someone look into it further..."

"No need," Oliver sneered, "It’s just an old man. The Woods Family had it too good when breaking ties, which has left Bella Woods with a house and unable to see clearly."

As he spoke, Oliver’s eyes grew colder and more ruthless.

"When she stumbles and feels the pain, she’ll know who is truly the best choice for her and who can really give her the best."

...

Bella left Tessa’s house and walked along the road for a while before a black Bentley pulled up beside her.

The car stopped, and Ashton Marshall stepped out, opening the passenger door for Bella.

"Didn’t I tell you to wait for me at the door? Why did you head out?" Ashton asked helplessly.

Bella didn’t hurry to get into the car; instead, she looked up at the moon. "I just thought the weather’s nice tonight and wanted to walk a bit, take a stroll."

She stared intently at Ashton.

Ashton looked at her, and about a minute later, he chuckled softly and closed the car door.

He took off his jacket and draped it over Bella’s shoulders, then reached out a hand toward her.

Bella didn’t move but raised an eyebrow and looked at him with a bit of a haughty expression.

"The kid’s grown up and turned a bit haughty," Ashton teased, unable to resist pinching Bella’s cheek.

Bella was quite displeased, "Who’s haughty, I wonder?"

"Hmm, there’s a little kid who’s haughty." Ashton put an arm around Bella’s shoulder, pulling her into his embrace and pinching her cheek, "Doesn’t want to get in the car when I say let’s take a walk, won’t let me hold hands either. If that’s not haughty, what is?"

Ashton was genuinely amused by how she riled him up.

He used to think she was a smart but lovelorn little girl. She was young, not fully defined in character yet. He believed that once she let go of her desires and moved on, she would definitely shine brightly.

But that glow hadn’t fully appeared yet, and her haughtiness was already emerging.

"Can’t I go for a walk? Do you have to hold my hand?" Bella pouted, still unhappy. "You secretly put a necklace meant for someone else on me, and I can’t even deny you holding my hand?"

Bella pushed Ashton away, returning the jacket to him, and angrily stomped off.

Ashton held the jacket and chuckled at Bella, "She’s throwing a tantrum."

He quickly walked up to her.

Seeing him approaching, Bella immediately sped up to avoid walking alongside him.

But compared to Ashton, Bella’s legs were much shorter. She took two or three steps, and Ashton caught up with just one.

He didn’t say anything, just followed Bella unhurriedly, a playful smile on his lips, with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

It seemed like Bella’s little tantrum was something he found quite entertaining.
