Dual Cultivation: I Summon Villainesses of Mythic Era-Chapter 78: White Snake
Long Huang remained silent, surprised by the audacity of what she considered an insect.
She slowly rose from her throne, her black dress sliding on the ground with a sinister rustle. She descended the steps, each step echoing in the stifling silence. She stopped right in front of him, towering over his height with all her stature as Origins sovereign.
"You just said that my power is unstable, little monkey ?" she asked. "Do you know that I could devour your essence and erase your soul before you even have time to close your eyes ?"
The young man smiled.
" To answer your question... devouring my essence would be a difficult task, since I have none... On the other hand, I possess something that your flames will never be able to burn."
"And what is that ?" asked Long Huang.
"Knowledge..." murmured BaiShe.
’Interesting...’ thought Long Huang.
There was a darkness in him that did not match his mortal stature. She felt a karmic link forming at that precise moment.
She extended a hand and violently squeezed his chin, forcing him to raise his head.
"You are either the calmest of scholars, or the stupidest of suicidal people..." declared Long Huang while abruptly releasing him.
She turned toward the tribe leader who was still trembling on the ground.
"I keep this tribute... Your village will live one more cycle... Get out of here before I change my mind."
The humans fled like rats, leaving the slave alone in the middle of the Dragons. Long Huang returned to her throne, but before sitting down, she cast one last glance over her shoulder.
"General... Take this thing to the lower apartments... Chain him... I want to see how long his calm will resist the darkness of my dungeons."
He watched her settle down, his smile not leaving him.
’You have no idea who you just invited into your home, little dragoness...’ he thought as he was seized by the arms.
...
Silence reigned in the throne room.
This young man, despite his condition as a simple mortal in the eyes of the dragons, emitted an unusual assurance.
His long silver hair fell elegantly over his shoulders, contrasting radically with the surrounding darkness. He observed the architecture of the palace with curiosity.
After a few weeks in prison, Long Huang had him brought to her to satisfy her curiosity.
Suddenly, the heavy doors opened with a dull crash. A dragon lord entered the hall with manifest arrogance.
His athletic stature and Heavenly King stage Qi made the foundations of the palace vibrate. He bowed before the Queen, but his gaze remained evasive.
"My Queen, I bring the reports from the southern borders," began General Fan in a thundering voice. "The ten-horned Rakshasas have been repelled, but our losses are heavy. We need more high-quality spiritual stones to reinforce the sealing barriers."
Long Huang sighed, one hand resting on the armrest of her throne. "More resources, Fan ? You seem particularly greedy this century."
The human, who had remained in the shadows until then, took a step forward.
"Majesty, if I may make an observation," intervened the young man in a calm voice.
General Fan turned toward him, his reptilian eyes bloodshot. "Shut up, insect ! How dare a human interrupt a dragon lord ?"
Long Huang raised a hand, imposing immediate silence. A spark of curiosity shone in her black eyes. "Speak, human. Let us see what you have to say. "
"The General’s report mentions five-horned Rakshasas," he began.
"However, the residual energy on his armor does not correspond to low-level Khao. It is a denser energy signature, characteristic of Royal Figures. Moreover, the treasury records indicate that the spiritual stones sent last month should have been enough for a thousand years of sealing. Consequently, it is logically impossible for the barriers to be already weakened, unless the resources have been diverted to fuel a private formation."
General Fan paled, his Qi becoming unstable. "These are slanders ! This monkey understands nothing about cultivation, how can you talk to me about energy traces ?!"
"In reality," continued the human with a nonchalant smile, "I took the liberty of analyzing the Qi flows at the entrance of the palace. The formation you are hiding in your personal quarters, General, consumes exactly the missing amount of resources. You are not preparing the defense of the border, but if my supposition is correct a coup d’état to overthrow the draconic court."
The intrigue revealed itself with a cunning beyond comprehension. The human was not content with serving; he advised the Queen, anticipating the court’s plots with precision.
Long Huang straightened up, an aura of black flames beginning to lick the steps of her throne. "Is this true, Fan ?"
General Fan, cornered, tried to draw his blade, but before he could make a gesture, Long Huang’s spiritual pressure crushed him to the ground. The bones of his legs cracked under the weight of draconic authority.
"Take him away," ordered the Queen with contempt.
Once the traitor was evacuated, Long Huang turned her attention back to the young man. She descended from her throne, her gait making her wide hips move provocatively.
She stopped a few centimeters from him, her scent of wild flowers and frosted metal invading the human’s senses.
"You are a fascinating creature," she murmured, amused by his sinuous intelligence and struck by his silver hair that seemed to capture the slightest gleam of the palace.
She extended a black-gloved hand and brushed the human’s cheek, feeling the warmth of his skin. ’He looks like a predator hidden under scholarly manners,’ she thought.
"From today onward, you will no longer be a simple nameless in my palace," she declared. "Your cunning mind may be useful to me...With your white hair, you resemble White Serpent... BaiShe... I think this name suits you well..."
(A/N: Bai: White/ She:Serpent =BaiShe)
The human, now known as BaiShe, slightly tilted his head, accepting this title with flawless courtesy.
"Even if my hair is more silver than white... It is an honor, Majesty," replied BaiShe.
" Good..."
Despite her brilliant mind, the Queen remained skeptical about the real abilities of a human to manipulate qi. She decided that the moment had come to test his potential.
"Follow me," she ordered.
They went to an isolated training hall, where the spiritual energy was so concentrated that it formed iridescent mists between the jade pillars.
"If you are to advise me, you must at least understand the rudiments of power," began Long Huang while sitting on a silk cushion. "Sit down. We will see if your Dantian is capable of containing even a drop of Qi."
