Chapter 182: 132. ¥30,000 to buy my life?_3

It’s quite a vivid scene...

Nan Wan burst out laughing and stood up to pull the curtains, but as soon as she stood up, she felt something moving behind her and turned around, bumping into a man’s chest.

Nan Wan was startled, and her phone slipped from her grasp, falling directly onto the carpet.

Mu Jin Huan had noticed she was on a call, so he deliberately softened his footsteps, not expecting her to suddenly stand up.

Reacting quickly, he wrapped his arm around the woman’s waist and steadied her before asking, "Did I scare you?"

Nan Wan knitted her brows tightly, patted her chest, and complained softly, "Why didn’t you make a sound?"

Mu Jin Huan sighed helplessly, "You were too engrossed in your chat."

Nan Wan bent down to pick up her phone from the carpet. Fortunately, the call hadn’t been cut off, or she wouldn’t know when she’d manage to get through again.

Walking to the bedside, she drew the curtains open, "Sorry about that, something unexpected happened."

There was no noise on the other end of the call, and the music in the café was rather low, so Sheng Boyan heard every word of their conversation.

His gaze fell on the bustling street scene outside the glass window, and he withdrew his playful demeanor, "No worries, I don’t have much time, let’s get to the point."

Nan Wan knew he was busy, so she got straight to the point, "I have a medical case here, and I’d like to trouble you, senior, to take a look."

Sheng Boyan took a sip of coffee, didn’t ponder much, "I’ll send you my address. Mail it to me, and I’ll take a look when I have time."

"So straightforward," Nan Wan initially thought she’d need to persuade him a bit, but it surprised her that he didn’t hesitate for even a minute, making her feel quite flattered, "Then I won’t say thanks; once the senior returns, I’ll treat you to a meal."

Sheng Boyan chuckled, slowly saying, "See you in two months."

About a minute after the call ended, Nan Wan received Sheng Boyan’s address. When she turned around, she found the room was empty except for her.

When she opened the door, she happened to see Aunt Zhou and Xiao Zhao walking over.

Aunt Zhou looked apologetic, "I’m sorry, madam, I’ve been forgetful these days. I forgot to change the sheets and duvet cover this afternoon, and only just remembered. I’m slow on my own, so I called Xiao Zhao to help out, so it wouldn’t disturb your rest."

Nan Wan smiled indifferently, "No rush, I’ll go to the study, take your time."

"Alright."

The two of them entered the bedroom one after another. Aunt Zhou took clean sheets and a duvet cover from the wardrobe and handed them to Zhao Ying, but accidentally stepped on her foot.

"Ouch!"

Zhao Ying drew a sharp breath and stepped back, knocking over the clothes rack beside the sofa, but luckily reacted quickly and caught it just before it toppled completely.

Only one of Nan Wan’s bags fell to the floor.

Aunt Zhou, who was slightly chubby, knew she must have stepped on the young lady’s foot quite hard. She immediately put the sheets and duvet cover at the foot of the bed and rushed over to support her, "Xiao Zhao, Aunt Zhou didn’t do it on purpose, are you alright?"

Zhao Ying’s face was all scrunched up in pain, but she couldn’t say anything. She rubbed the foot that had been stepped on and muttered, "Reminds me of the time I got my toes caught in a door as a kid."

Aunt Zhou didn’t mean to, but felt embarrassed nonetheless. She wanted to help massage her foot but remembered her hands were freshly washed, meaning she’d have to go back downstairs to wash them again if she touched anything.

Fearing she’d delay the gentleman’s rest, she withdrew the outstretched hand, chuckling awkwardly, "You rest a bit. I’ll do it myself."

Zhao Ying kept her head down, saying nothing.

After enduring the urge to curse from the pain, she finally gathered herself, crouched down, and started picking up the things scattered on the floor, putting them back into that white bag.

However, when she saw the sanitary pad that had fallen into the corner of the sofa, her hands froze.

Why would a pregnant woman have sanitary pads in her bag?

By chance, Aunt Zhou noticed and didn’t pay much mind, "Xiao Zhao, did you get your period?"

Zhao Ying snapped back to reality, "Oh... yes, it was originally in my pocket, but it fell out by accident just now."

She stood up, turning her back to Aunt Zhou, and placed the sanitary pad back into her bag.

Mu Jin Huan heard the door open and didn’t look up, "Finished the call?"

Why did Nan Wan feel a sour note in that question?

She closed the door, walked to the desk, and said with a light laugh, "There actually wasn’t, but I’ve got to help you with business matters."

The air was filled with a blend of refreshing body wash scent and humidity, lingering around the nostrils. Mu Jin Huan’s gaze shifted from the computer screen to the woman’s clean, small face.
