Dreaming of you-Chapter 53: Fake Girlfriend
All the students and teachers are sitting in the canteen, enjoying their food. Among them, Jung-hee is sitting alone in a corner, quietly enjoying her meal. Being new at school, she hadn’t had the chance to make many friends yet. On top of that, Kyung-hee had already warned everyone not to get close to her.
While Jung-hee was silently enjoying her meal, Dong-hyeon walked into the canteen with a tray in his hand, looking for a place to sit. As soon as Kyung-hee saw him, she waved to catch his attention. Even though Dong-hyeon noticed her, he completely ignored her. Instead, he looked at Jung-hee and gave a soft smile, then started walking toward her.
When Dong-hyeon didn’t come towards her, Kyung-hee frowned and looked at him. She followed his gaze and noticed that Jung-hee is sitting alone. She realized that Dong-hyeon was approaching Jung-hee.
Dong-hyeon placed the food on Jung-hee’s table. Sensing someone’s presence, Jung-hee looked up and surprised to see Dong-hyeon. He took a sit right in front of her. Jung-hee frowned, clearly puzzled. Seeing Jung-hee stared at him, Dong-hyeon casually said while sitting down,
"If you keep staring at me like that, I just might kiss you."
He gave her a mischievous smile and winked. Embarrassed, Jung-hee blushed deeply. She quickly looks away from Dong-hyeon. Focusing on her food.
The students around the canteen started whispering and murmuring. This was the first time anyone had seen Dong-hyeon sit and eat with a girl. He had never done that before—not even with Kyung-hee, no matter how many times she had tried to get his attention. She failed.
Seeing Dong-hyeon sitting with Jung-hee, one of Kyung-hee’s friends leaned over and said, "Wow... looks like Dong-hyeon ditched you for Jung-hee."
Kyung-hee glared at her. Seeing Kyung-hee’s glare, the girl fell silent. Another girl sitting with them added,
"Kyung-hee, you’ve tried so many times to have lunch with Dong-hyeon, and still never succeeded. But look at her! She’s only been here for two days, and he went and sat with her. Honestly, I think Jung-hee has cast a spell on him. Do something while you still have time, Kyung-hee..... Or the bird will fly away then...! Then there will be no way out."
Kyung-hee clenched her jaw in anger, picked up her tray of food, and stormed toward Jung-hee and Dong-hyeon.
Meanwhile, Jung-hee accidentally got some food on the corner of her lips while eating. Dong-hyeon chuckled at the sight. Though Jung-hee shot him a sideways glance, she didn’t say anything.
Dong-hyeon stood up slightly and leaned over. Gently, he wiped the corner of her lips with his finger. Jung-hee flinched at the unexpected touch. When she looked up, she saw Dong-hyeon bring his finger to his mouth, stick out his tongue slightly, and lick the food off it.
Jung-hee was completely stunned. Her eyes widened in disbelief, her whole body froze, and her cheeks turned as red as tomatoes. She sat there, speechless.
Students around them gasped and whispered louder. They had never seen this romantic side of Dong-hyeon before. Some even started recording the moment on their phones.
"Are they dating?"
"Are they a couple now?"
"Ohhh Myyyy Gooodddd!"
Voices buzzed across the canteen.
Kyung-hee, witnessing all of it, burned with rage. Her hands trembling, she moved forward pretending to trip—trying to spill the contents of her tray onto Jung-hee.
But Dong-hyeon noticed in time. Just before the food could hit Jung-hee, he grabbed the tray. Without a second thought, he threw the food back at Kyung-hee.
The entire trayful landed on Kyung-hee, ruining her clothes and shoes. She stood there, frozen in shock. Her face turned red with fury, but she said nothing.
Since most of the students were already recording Dong-hyeon and Jung-hee, this whole scene was caught on camera too. Everyone burst out laughing at Kyung-hee.
Dong-hyeon stood up from his seat and faced her. As Kyung-hee tried to walk toward him, he raised a hand to stop her. She halted.
With a serious expression, Dong-hyeon said,
"From now on, no one will look at Jung-hee in a wrong way. Forget harming her—everyone will treat her with respect. Remember, if you mess with her, you’re messing with me. Everyone must have an idea about my power! So I hope no one will want to bring trouble into their lives.... Or end of their beautiful life..."
Then he turned around, held Jung-hee’s hand tightly, and pulled her to stand beside him. Everyone’s eyes were on them.
"And one more thing," Dong-hyeon continued, "I, Dong-hyeon, am officially announcing today, right here, right now, that Jung-hee and I are in a relationship. Jung-hee is my girlfriend. We’re dating."
He ended his declaration and walked out of the canteen holding Jung-hee’s hand. The canteen erupted in cheers. Some clapped, some whistled, and many continued recording everything.
Kyung-hee stood there, watching them leave, fuming with jealousy and humiliation. Her eyes welled up with tears.
___
As soon as they left the canteen, Dong-hyeon and Jung-hee exchanged glances and started laughing. Jung-hee was reminded of what happened yesterday.
Yesterday—
Dong-hyeon had brought Jung-hee to his personal room—a space he shared with Hyeon-woo for their club activities. Jung-hee looked around, taking in her surroundings. Dong-hyeon flopped onto the sofa and said,
"Here’s your key. You can come in whenever you want now."
"You’re saying this, but won’t Dong-hyeon say something if I come here?"
Dong-hyeon looked at her with a raised brow but quickly caught her meaning.
"Dong-hyeon? He agrees with whatever I do. He won’t mind." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Okay.... so what exactly do I have to do?"
"Not much. Just be my girlfriend."
"Oh, that’s all? Being your— Wait, what?!"
"Relax. I’m not asking you to be my real girlfriend."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you’ll pretend to be my girlfriend—just to keep Kyung-hee off my back."
"And what’s in it for me?"
Dong-hyeon grinned, pulled out his phone, and showed her a video.
"Now imagine if this went viral in the school group or ended up with the principal—what would happen?"
The video showed Jung-hee staring shamelessly at some boys. Her face flushed as she reached out to snatch the phone, but Dong-hyeon quickly pulled it away.
"Besides, being my girlfriend comes with benefits. You’ll be treated like a VIP. You’ll be famous. No one will dare mess with you. You’ll breeze through your school days."
"But why me? Why not someone else?"
"Hmm—that’s very good question. You’re strong. Some girls would break under pressure, but not you. And let’s face it, being the girlfriend of the most popular guy means some jealous girls will try to come after you."
"Hah! When the lion’s away, even the donkeys start thinking they rule the jungle." Jung-hee mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Nothing." She replied with a forced smile.
"So, what do you say?"
"You’re acting like I have a choice."
"Ummmm, I can hear you loud and clear..."
"Then you already know my answer."
"Not unless you say it."
"Fine then."
"Alright, Miss Jung-hee. From today, we’re partners."
Dong-hyeon extended his hand. Jung-hee hesitated for a moment before shaking it.
