DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 28: Wrath Of The Sorcerer pt—2
The countless divine-looking swords flew upward, aiming at the sorcerers still busy preparing their rituals. The swords kept materializing one after another as each previous sword was unleashed from the magic circles behind Skyler—just like bullets firing endlessly from a machine gun.
Due to the sudden awakening in his passive skill, his MP bar got frozen, allowing him to wiled attacks regardless of the MP cost— like a cheat skill.
Skyler meanwhile, took full advantage of the situation, unleashing a catastrophic level attack— Tears of Divine Judgment. Those uncountable thunder infused swords rushed, heading straight for the sorcerers, and was about to made contact.
"Flame Barrier!" Their leader spoke, his crimson rob unleashing arcs or flames. The flames he used, formed a solid and massive multi-layer barrier between them and Skyler.
Skyler’s attack got pushed back as they hit the barrier. It was tough to pierce through. The swords got stuck on it while some of them collided with each other. There wasn’t a way that those attack could actually destroy the barrier.
The attack was In vain. However, Skyler didn’t lose his composure. Instead of faltering, he remained calm, keeping his mind sharp. This led him to use a high-level spell he had wanted to try for a while.
’This attack requires around 25000 MP.’ Skyler thought, chuckling with a sly grin, ’Since I don’t have to worry about the MP cost right now, might as well give it a try.’
His previous attack ceased. All of his aura cascaded into his hands. The leader noticed that he was up to something but didn’t give it much thought. He was confident in his barrier.
’I just need to stall for a little more time until noon,’ he thought, glancing at the sun, which was soon to be directly overhead. ’The others are nearly finished, too. Just a little longer, and our goddess will emerge into this world.’
Meanwhile, Skyler concentrated, gathering as much mana as he could. He began materializing a small, arrow-like weapon.
The light element formed its foundation, while earth and ice enveloped it to enhance durability. Wind and water followed, reinforcing its flow, and finally, fire and thunder increased its destructive potential. Each element was highly compressed. And was different than how he usually used them.
Leonardo’s eyes trembled in shock. His ’Insight’ skill allowed him to appraised the tiny small arrow floating before Skyler.
"Clan leader." Rose called out, noticing his abnormal behaviour, "Is there something wrong? You seemed to be concerned."
"Hay, Rose. Tell me how can you be this calm when we’re tied in flame shackles and our fates only rely on Sir Skyler." He stammered, showing his teeth against hid forcible smile.
"It’s pretty simple actually. I have faith in him as much as I have devotion upon our goddess."
"There’s no doubt about it." He replied, taking a deep breath, "Rose... Now brace yourself as you’re about to witness something out of the world."
Rose and the others stared at Skyler, their spirits lifted despite being held captive.
Skyler’s preparation was complete. The arrow floated just above the tip of his index finger. His stance resembled someone about to fire a bullet from a handgun.
As he took aim at the flame barrier, a magic circle appeared in his right eye. He chuckled, murmuring softly,
"Begone! Catastrophe Explosion!"
The arrow shot from his hand, generating an immense recoil that forced his legs into the ground. Within seconds, it struck the barrier, triggering a massive explosion upon contact
If it wasn’t out side the nation, an immense collateral damage would’ve been inflicted. The Xions were devoured by the explosion, leaving them no time to evade. It was thousand times stronger than their own attack— Agni Angel.
The sky burned in scorching flames, as did the air on the battlefield. The sheer heat evaporated sweat instantly, making it harder to breathe. It wasn’t just Skyler’s flames—the sun itself was unusually intense now that it stood directly overhead, marking midday.
However, the fate of the Xions performing the forbidden ritual was still unknown.
It was then, a sudden laughter echoed through the entire battle field. The smoke of the explosion started clearing up. The Xions still stood in the mid-air. Their enchanting was near end as well.
The leader by the way, somehow managed to save his fellow teammates in exchange for sustaining heavy damages. His robs torn apart. His mask broken. And his ferocious face visible yet covered with sinister grin.
"Excellent, Sorcerer!" he yelled, laughing at Skyler, "I never would’ve expected you to be capable of breaking though my barrier. No wonder why you have the courage to stand against us. However, you’re out of time. The victory is ours."
’What? They’re done already?’ Skyler thought, narrowing his eyes at them.
As the Xion leader’s triumphant voice echoed through the battlefield, the massive flame circle in the sky began absorbing mana at an alarming rate.
It drew power from the ground itself, making the air unbearably hot. The sun’s position acted as a catalyst, accelerating the process. No one could understand how the ground could unleash such a vast amount of mana—such a phenomenon wasn’t witnessed before.
"How’s that even possible?" Leonardo being cautious screamed out, "These lands are barren! There’s no way they could produce this much mana!"
"Curious, are you?" The Xion leader smirked, looking at them with mock pity. "It’s the fruit of our ten-day labour. For the past ten days, we’ve been creating underground passages, allowing lava to flow beneath this land. Didn’t you even notice the sudden mutations in the nearby monsters?"
’Now that he mention it, I did looked into the matter of their sudden mutation.’ Leonardo thought, biting his tongue, ’But the intelligence network didn’t find anything on that topic.’
"We exhausted all our mana just to set our plan in motion," the Xion leader continued, his voice trembling with excitement. "And now that it’s almost complete, I feel nothing but pure joy. Ah... this sensation! She is coming!"
Skyler didn’t understand any of it. He turned to Leonardo, but even he was bewildered, unable to predict what was about to happen
"Hay." Skyler asked the Xion leader, "Can I ask you a question? What’s the goal behind this ritual anyway?"
"Why don’t you see for yourself." He replied arrogantly.
The circle was rotating slowly— gathering mana each time. And finally it stopped. It absorbed so much mana that it became heavy, unable to stay in the mid air for long.
With a thunderous crash, it slammed into the ground—right in front of Skyler. He fell back skedding, and stood near the captive adventurers.
And then—the next event shocked everyone.
Every single person, no matter their allegiance, had the same thought running through their mind—
"What the hell is that thing?!"
******************
A deep, guttural roar shook the battlefield. The first thing that emerged was heat—not the ordinary kind, but an all-consuming inferno that melted the very ground beneath it. Then, from the depths of the gate, a massive form took shape.
It was a dragon. But it wasn’t made of flesh and blood. Instead, Its entire body was composed of magma, molten rock flowing through its form like veins of liquid fire. No wings, no solid structure—just an ever-shifting mass of burning wrath, shaped into the skeletal outline of an enormous beast.
Each step it took shook the earth. Lava seeped from its core and pooled beneath its feet. Its very presence was overwhelming. Even its simplest roar trembled the souls of others— even Leonardo, the toughest of all shook badly.
"What... the hell is that?!" He stammered, incapable of accepting the reality.
"One of the primal... The Flame Empress Dragon of Myths?" Rose’s eyes trembled, seeing the abnormal creature before them.
"Then we’re doomed." McVill swallowed hard.
Skyler, however, did not move. He remain unfazed, though uncertain for his next movements.
His golden eyes kept staring at the entity as it took slow and deliberate steps forward. Then, something strange happened.
The enormous aura that filled the entire battlefield began to shrink so as the size of the dragon.
Its colossal form compressed with each step. The magma solidifying into something smaller and more refined. Its monstrous shape twisted. All of its flames dimmed. And slowly its appearance resembled like human.
By the time it reached Skyler, it stood only slightly taller than him.
And then it happened. It took its final step. The molten body dissipated, revealing a figure within. It was a girl. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
She was young—perhaps no older than nineteen— yet her presence was suffocating. The smallest part of aura that still remained around her, was oppressive. Her skin shined. her eyes blazed with flames. Her hair was long and scarlet— just like the scorches.
Her attire was woven from living flames, shifting and curling like fabric made of fire itself.
Out of everyone’s imagination, the event took a dramatic event. The dragon that took the human appearance, was now kneeling before Skyler, lowering her gaze down.
The battlefield fell into stunned silence. Not even the tiny particle of dust dared to make any sound. Only a sweet and smooth voice rose from the newly appeared stunningly beautiful girl.
"My lord." A smile peaked from the corner of her lips, "It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I, Vitra, now shall be of your service from today onwards."
