DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 18: Skyler vs Legendary White Serpent

’I got careless,huh?’ Skyler thought, lying beneath the swamp, ’I was too occupied to notice the attack coming for me.’
[Alert: Multiple serpents detected]
The system interface appeared. But he was in no condition to look at it. His vision was blurry, yet he could sense the approaching danger.
The swamp which remained empty most of the time, was now filled with countless Black Serpent of various sizes. It was not their size that made them ferocious, but their frustration.
They gathered in the swamp only to compete for the female one, and got defeated by the big one — the one whom Skyler slayed earlier. The frustration of their defeat led them to their madness as they detected an unknown presence in the swamp. It was Skyler. Thus they all headed towards him.
Meanwhile, Skyler lost over 5000 MP just from a single strike. But he wasn’t defeated. If anything, he was warned not to underestimate his enemies. At the bottom of that swamp, beneath that filthy water he stood. His visions returned as he regained his senses.
’I’m not going to loose with out a fight.’ He thought as he remained cold-blooded.
The serpents were closing in, intending to attack him with their fangs from all the direction. He remained silent. As if the time of his surrounding somehow became slow. When they came closer, he prepared.
"Thunder!" he muttered coldly, unleashing thunders from his hands.

Normally ’Thunder’ was a low level-spell under his active skill ’Element Lord’. Since he was under water, its impact was about hundred times effective. Causing massive explosions under the water, he blasted the serpents. Few of them died, while others fell back.
The spell also affected him. Instead of harming or causing a disadvantage, it increased his nerve impulses. He was more alert than ever— enabling him to see clearly under the water.
"Release Exhaustion!" he commanded, preparing for the second wave of the serpents.

"That feels good." He chuckled as his body glowed with yellowish rays, "It’s time for me to put an end to them. Come, Whirlpool!"
The water surrounding him started rotating, forming a huge whirlpool. It pulled in all the attacking serpents as it started gaining more momentum— growing larger by each rotation.

The entire swamp turned into whirlpool. The white serpent still remained calm, gazing coldly at the phenomena. A huge pile of rock fell upon her from above the sky. Though she was nimble enough to dodge it.
That rock-slide shook the land. Jumping out from the whirlpool, Skyler stood on the rock, holding a sharp, agile spear on his hand made of ice. Without hesitation, he unleashed it, throwing as fast as he could.

"Frost Lance!" the attack barely manage to hit her, leaving only a scar on her body. Looking furious, she unleased her dark-fire breath. Skyler dodged that, falling back a little. He dashed to her behind as he pulled out ’Flame orb’ from his inventory.
Shattering the orb, he enhanced his fire-spells. Instead of casting fire attacks, he infused flames with his fist. It burned intensely as cracks appeared on his hands.

With brute force, he struck the serpent multiple times while dodging her tail. Each time the attack landed a powerful hit, she roared in agony, incapable of bearing it much longer. The other black serpents upon hearing her call showered like rain from the whirlpool, now turning into blood-soaked downpour. Skyler carefully dodging the slams of their sharp tails, fell back again.
"Such a pain in the ass!" He murmured, preparing his next attack, "Take this. Flash!"
A sudden light blinded them, opening a path for him to attack. Brown magic-circles appeared, forming sharp rocks in mid-air.
"Rock Slide!" the momentum those rocks had, not only did they pierced the serpents, also pushed them back into the swamp, now gradually filling with blood. However most of them manage to dodge the attack.

Skyler took a quick look on his other stats while keeping an eye on the serpents. The white one was covering herself using the black ones as her shield. Her body was glowing in green as if she was healing herself.
He took out two more ’flame orbs’ and shattered with both fist. His strength was greater than before as he was now at level 16.
"Scorching Blade!" He dashed, forming two katana-like blade on his hands. Even though they were normal spells, the orb amplified their potential.
Dodging poison breaths, dark-flame breaths, tail slams and so, Skyler with his swift movement— enhanced by agility— allowed him to slice through the serpents one after another. Occasionally sustaining some damages as well. But the lost HP was somewhat recovered by his leveling-up.

After finishing off most of the black serpent, he reached his limits. He was tired, yet refuse to yield.
"Release Exhaustion" he commanded.

A sudden tail-slam made him fly. However using his winds skill he made a thrust to redirect his direction at them. He shattered two more of the orbs and two additional. This time, in the mid he formed four spears, burning in scarlet flames.
"Flame Spears!" He roared, unleashing the attacks aiming at the white one who was still recovering. While she was left unguarded, he thought he might take her down. But his anticipations failed as the black ones jumped, protecting her.

Four small black serpents were annihilated. The remaining three lunged on him when he landed. Skyler, by the way, with combination of Rock-Slide and Icicle-Shot, pulverized the remaining.

But he didn’t stop there, looking at his surroundings.
"Hurricane Thrust!" Skyler unleased another attack. A fierce wind swept off the messes, pushing all the corpses back into the swamp filled with blood, "Shall we continue where we left off. " He said, clenching his fists.

The white serpent rushed, opening her mouth wide open. As she came close, he shouted,
"Rock-Slides!"
With swift jiggle, she managed to dodge the falling rocks. Skyler already anticipated her movements.
"Flash!" An intense light stunned her, blinding for moment.
"Element Fusion: Thunder-Earth Pillars!"
The ground erupted with multiple pillars infused in thunder, growing upwards towards the serpent. Her senses were sharp— thus successfully dodged them.
"Thunder Rock slides!"
While she was busy saving her skin, Skyler casted more of his spells. The rocks from above, crashed her beneath as she let a sharp scream out, her massive tail trashing as she struggled to move, and might have succeeded. But then
"Frost Lances!" Skyler released four lances simultaneously to stuck her down.
"As for the final blow.." he said, pulling the remaining there orb from his inventory, and shattered, "Wind Thrust!"
He used the wind force to launch himself high into the air, aiming directly at the serpent’s head. As he descended with tremendous speed he concentrated all the flames on his right fist.
"Flame Knuckle!"
The impact was devastating. His fiery fist changed the shape of the Serpent’s skull. causing her a tremendous agonizing pain. She finally stopped moving after her final scream.

Skyler stood atop her, looking at the system screen.

"What’s that suppose to mean?" He said, feeling torn apart in exhaustion, "Full status."

"So I can now upgrade my active skill level, huh?" He chuckled, looking at the screen, "I’ll do that once I return to the inn. Right now lets see what loot this one has."
He stare at the dead serpent. Thought something. And then commanded, "Scavenge!"
However, that triggered a counter measure— an inborn defense of the legendary white serpent. Her golden tail rattled, and a massive energy was unleased that only exploded surrounding Skyler, hurting him to his bones as he tried to remain firm.
His mask covered in blood, his leg drenched too. Several bone fractures as well as muscle torment and trauma in his head. Somehow he mange to sit on the rock he used as ’Rock Slide.’ As he started taking some rest, the system interface appeared.
