Dragon Ball Roshi-Chapter 161 - : The Choice
Chapter 161: Chapter 161: The Choice
Taro nodded upon hearing the Grand Kai's words.
At the same time, he thought to himselfa: "The meditation technique i had obtained from Ivan wasn't it also a form of secret art, the kind that was never meant to be passed on?" After all, when Taro first learned this meditation technique, it had been transmitted to him directly through the Mage's "spiritual transmission".
Could it be that, through this meditation technique, he could also grasp divinity? Just like the stories in ancient and mystical novels that spoke of "the Three Thousand Daow"?
The Muken (and the knowledge within) was one Dao, and the meditation technique (and the knowledge within) was another?
During this time, Taro had gone out a few times, mainly to check on Hathaway. His training and discussions with the Grand Kai had taken more time than expected. Life on the Grand Kai's planet was not without inconvenience, but Hathaway insisted on staying there, and Taro couldn't do much about it. So, he found himself frequently traveling back and forth between Earth and the Underworld.
After all, they were an old married couple, so there was no real notion of who was troubling whom. Taro did, however, remind his wife that their child was still at his mother-in-law's house.
Soon, ten days passed since Taro entered the room.
Even with the combined wisdom of two galaxy-level beings, Taro's Muken showed no signs of breaking through. In fact, the constant sparring and exchanges had led to Taro's power reaching five million. The presence of an opponent and the balance of strength truly played a critical role in the path of cultivation.
Eventually, the Grand Kai turned to Taro and said, "It seems the usual methods aren't enough to break through. How about this? Come with me to a place."
With that, he walked toward a small door set in the white expanse of the land. Beyond the door was the time-space corridor of the Grand Kai's mansion.
Taro followed, his clothes tattered, but as he muttered a spell under his breath, he waved his hand, and his attire was instantly restored: a loose, gray robe and pants made of satin fabric, with the cuffs rolled back at his wrists to reveal pure white fabric inside. As he walked, he asked, "Where are we going?"
"The room left behind by Lord Kavishir..." The Grand Kai pushed open the door.
"The room of the ancient Kaioshin, Kavishir?" Taro thought to himself, nodding slightly. The Grand Kai had already stepped through the door, his figure disappearing into the dark time-space corridor, his voice floating back, "It was where Lord Kavishir trained!"

The room used by the "true" Kaioshin for training?
Taro hurried after the Grand Kai through the time-space corridor, but his mind was filled with questions. If, as the Grand Kai said, the ancient Kaioshin named Kavishir was far superior to the useless Kaioshins of later times, then he was probably on the level of the Destroyer God, Beerus.
Could a mere mortal like himself even use a training room meant for a God of that caliber?
The two moved with remarkable speed, faster than one could describe as fast walking. The corridor was dimly lit, and their figures blurred as they sped through it. After several twists and turns, they finally arrived at a door at the very end of the corridor.
This was the very end of the time-space corridor.
At the end was a door that looked no different from the others they had passed — hanging on a dark wall, tightly closed.
"I vaguely remember Lord Kaioshin once told me I could bring exceptional mortals to this room..." The Grand Kai stood before the door, not in a hurry to open it. He stroked his white beard thoughtfully and slowly spoke, "It seems he was waiting for someone."
Taro turned to the Grand Kai and asked, "What about Lord Kavishir himself? After the universe split, where did he go?"
The Grand Kai shook his head. "I don't know." He adjusted his sunglasses, concealing his expression, and continued, "A lot of gods perished in that turmoil. Even the infamous God Of Destruction was severely injured. Lord Kavishir... he also suffered grave wounds. He found me here in this universe before leaving in a hurry, giving me a brief message, and I never saw him again. Otherwise, how would I know that this 'small universe' we're in now was once part of a larger universe that split into 'twelve pieces'? And how would I know that our universe is now moving towards countless parallel dimensions?" The Grand Kai sighed. "All of this was told to me by Lord Kavishir himself. And I think... he must have informed all the 'me's across these parallel dimensions as well."
The Grand Kai paused, his eyes behind the sunglasses now looking more serious as he said, "It seems that Lord Kavishir was waiting for someone." He looked at Taro and added, "And after meeting you, I'm even more convinced of this."
Taro listened silently to the elder's recount of these long-past events, not speaking a word.
The Grand Kai finally pushed open the door before them. This was the door to the room where Lord Kavishir had once cultivated, a place capable of withstanding even the full might of the Destroyer God in his prime. The Grand Kai said, "Go ahead. This might be what Lord Kavishir left for you... a way to resolve your doubts on the path of cultivation."
Taro did not move, instead asking, "What's inside, Grand Kai? Do you know?"
"I don't." The Grand Kai shook his head. "Your question is a bit odd. Who could know what the inside of Lord Kavishir's training room looks like? Who could dare enter his private space?"
"Not even you have the authority to enter?"
"Of course not." The Grand Kai looked at Taro, somewhat puzzled by his hesitation, and asked, "What's making you hesitate? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Are you really going to pass it up?"
"Of course not," Taro replied. "It's just... about one hundred years ago, I accidentally entered the Demon Realm's time-space during my time on Earth. I was there for less than a day, but when I came out, six years had passed outside. So..." He looked at the door the Grand Kai had opened. Beyond it was a faint glow, but nothing was clear inside.
His gaze was filled with concern about the time disparity between the room and the outside world. He feared that entering might cause the passage of time inside to be vastly different from the outside, and by the time he emerged, everything might have changed beyond recognition.
The Grand Kai understood and nodded. "Ah, the Demon Realm. I know time flows very differently there." He glanced at the faint light spilling from the door but sighed again. "Your worry is not without merit, but honestly, i can't guarantee that. After all, this is Lord Kavishir's training room. He doesn't care about things like time, years, or lifespan. But are you really going to give up just because of that worry? Lord Kavishir is very thorough in his thinking. He probably considered that I might bring a mortal here, so he might not have set up a time barrier. What you're concerned about might not even happen."
The implication was clear. The decision was entirely up to Taro.
Enter, and there might be a breakthrough; hesitate, and he could waste his entire life.
Taro lowered his head in silence. Just as the Grand Kai was about to speak again, Taro lifted his head, his expression calm, and slowly said, "I will go in. But before that, i need to send my wife back to Earth."
"That's up to you." The Grand Kai nodded, a hint of a smile crossing his face, showing some approval.
Taro's figure vanished.

Back on the Grand Kai's planet, in a small pavilion, North Kai was lying in a recliner, sleeping. Meanwhile, Hathaway sat in a corner of the pavilion, typing away furiously on her laptop. She had Taro bring a few spare batteries, and she sat far from North Kai, making sure not to disturb him.
