Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 76: Hunting Cave Beasts
Chapter 76: Hunting Cave Beasts
I equipped my [Apprentice Robe] and [Manaheart Pendant], while Bob wore his usual ridiculous red cape, along with [Earthwalker Boots] and [Leather Bracers].
"It’s the debut of the double swords," Bob said with a grin. In his right hand was the old [Gaia Sword], and in his left, a newly acquired [Embersteel Sword], an Uncommon-rank weapon he pulled from the [Rise of Heroes] pack. It had a passive ability that gave a chance to burn enemies on hit. The design was sleek, with flame motifs along the hilt. When the blade caught the light, it shimmered in red, a perfect fit for Bob’s flashy style.
"Nice design, isn’t it, Alan?" he said, proudly showing it off.
"It is. But are you sure you want to use it against these... boulder monsters? I doubt you can burn stone," I replied flatly.
"Of course I know that. I just want to use it as a dual blade," he said, brushing off my comment.
I rolled my eyes, then turned my focus to the cave beasts. They varied in size, some about two meters tall, others towering up to five.
"So... how do we attack them?" I asked.
"We just go in. They’re just rock monsters. Probably slow as snails and dumb as bricks." Bob stepped forward toward one of the creatures, which was wandering near a massive stone pillar that stretched from floor to ceiling. The beast scratched at its body, seemingly unaware.
I followed behind him cautiously.
Up above, Beltimore and Alice watched us from their vantage point.
"Don’t they know cave beasts have excellent hearing?" Alice said, raising an eyebrow. She had already cast a yellow spell circle on her left hand, ready to step in if things went south.
"Let’s just see what they’re trying to do," Beltimore muttered, narrowing his eyes at us. He had not noticed whether Alan was carrying a magic item, but after watching him summon weapons and gear, he began to suspect it.
The beast we were targeting stood a bit apart from the others. It was about three meters tall, not massive, but still imposing.
We crept forward, eyes sharp, every step silent.
"Let’s end this in one clean strike," Bob whispered.
I nodded.
But just as we were about to attack, Bob accidentally kicked a loose stone. The small rock clattered loudly across the cave floor. In the heavy silence of the cave, the sound echoed like a drumbeat.
Every beast in the area stirred. One by one, they turned, their massive bodies pivoting toward the source of the sound. Even the one in front of us stopped and twisted its head.
We froze.
My heartbeat pounded in my ears. Are we about to fight all of them at once?
But then the creature closest to us began to move... not toward us, but past us. Its gaze swept forward, unseeing. It didn’t react at all to our presence.
I glanced at Bob. He looked back at me.
The same realization hit both of us at once.
The creature lumbered past, its heavy steps shaking the ground. As soon as it passed, we quickly and quietly slipped around the pillar to the other side, out of its path.
"They’ve figured it out. The beasts are blind," Alice said, yawning.
Beltimore said nothing, eyes still locked on us.
"These guys are blind. That means this’ll be easy," Bob said with a grin.
He quickly shared his plan with me, it was straightforward and... loud.
I could not help but smile as I pulled out my Uncommon-rank [GranitecrackerBomb], another card from [Rise of Heroes] pack. The card had five charges, meaning it can be used 5 times. It was a compact, spherical bomb packed with concentrated magic, designed to shatter tough defenses.
"It’s been a while since I played with firecrackers," I said, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Throw it," Bob urged.
I stepped out from behind the stone pillar and hurled the [Granitecracker Bomb] toward one of the cave’s far corners. The orb rolled across the ground, clinking softly until it came to a stop near one of the beasts’ massive feet. The creature paused, sensing something. It lowered its body, trying to inspect the foreign object.
The bomb pulsed once with light, then exploded.
BOOM!
The deafening blast shook the cave walls. Dust and debris burst outward. Bob and I covered our ears from the thunderous noise. Fragments of stone, the remains of the shattered beast, rained through the cavern. The explosion had hit hard, and the nearby beasts were not spared. Jagged shards tore through their limbs and sides. Some lost arms, legs, others had holes blown clean through their stony bodies.
Roars of pain and rage filled the air. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
I was stand froze, that thing is too loud. I did not expect it result like that. Our initial plan was just to throw bomb to distract them. But this thing shattered one of the beast to hundreds pieces easily.
Well, this is better than expected.
---
Beltimore and Alice flinched, their hands instinctively covering their ears as the sudden explosion rocked the cavern.
"Was that... an explosive bomb?" Beltimore asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
"I think so..." Alice replied, equally stunned. Her eyes widened in surprise. Out of nowhere, those two had thrown a bomb powerful enough to shatter one of the cave beasts, something even seasoned adventurers struggled to do.
"That kind of weapon is only issued to the kingdom’s army," Beltimore muttered, still processing what he saw. "No civilian should have access to something like that."
Alice’s lips curled into an amused smile. "And yet, their bomb was even stronger than the ones I’ve seen used by our soldiers."
She leaned forward slightly, her gaze following Alan and Bob as they moved through the chaos.
"These two are... fascinating!" her lips is wider in smile.
For the first time, both Beltimore and Alice found their perception shifting. These were not just amateurs fumbling their way through a trial. There were too many irregularities, too many surprises. Alan and Bob were far from ordinary, and now, they had the attention of two powerful adventurers of Dawnbloom Guild watching their every move.
---
From the battle zone below...
"Let’s go!" Bob shouted.
We bolted, circling around to flank the dazed beasts from behind, just as planned. While they focused on the blast site, unaware of our movement, we closed in for the real attack.
