Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 127: Yui
We were now running along the road of the district, heading toward Yui’s house. Her home was located on the west side of the city.
Boom!
The sound of distant thunder echoed across the sky. There were no stars or moon in sight. The wind began to blow, and the leaves rustled on the trees. Rain could fall at any moment now.
After several minutes of running, we finally arrived at a row of terrace houses. The design was neat and charming, painted in a soft yellow hue that reflected the flickering flames of the roadside lamps.
The houses stretched down both sides of the road. Most of them seemed to be in deep slumber.
"Where does Yui live, Bob? We need to hurry, or we’ll be left behind," I said, trying to sound urgent as I looked right and left.
"She lives just nearby," Bob replied, then turned toward one of the houses.
Just as Bob was about to knock on the door, it suddenly swung open, and Yui stood there in the doorway. Her eyes widened in shock at the sight of three guys in front of her house. She was wearing adventurer attire, it was the first time I had seen her in it. A backpack was slung over her shoulders.
"Bob?" Yui said softly.
"Yui, are you planning to go to Daisy Town? Do you know how dangerous it is right now?" Bob asked.
Yui looked down, then clenched her eyes shut. "I know that! I know it’s dangerous! But my brother is there. He’s the only family I have left! I know I can’t fight... but I still want to save him."
Yui started to cry, tears streaming down her cheeks. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Yui..." I said, feeling a deep sympathy for her. That feeling of helplessness, I understood it too well. When you don’t have the strength to protect someone precious to you.
She then wiped her cheeks, tightened the straps on her backpack, and started to walk.
"I knew all of you would try to stop me from going. But I don’t care."
As she was walking, someone suddenly grabbed her arm. It was Bob. He pulled her toward him, and hugged her.
"Yui. Don’t worry. I’ll save your brother and bring him back here. I promise," Bob said.
Yui began to cry again and pressed her face against Bob’s chest. "Please, Bob. Save Michael. He’s the only one I have left, the only one I can call family," her voice muffled against Bob’s chest.
Bob gently patted her hair. "Yes, I will."
Watching the scene in front of me, I realized I had really underestimated their relationship. I always thought Bob just wanted to be a playboy and build a harem around him. But seeing him like this, sincere and determined, it seemed unlikely now.
"Now go inside. It’s going to rain soon. Just wait and pray for us, okay?" Bob said with a smile.
Yui forced a small smile and nodded. "Please be careful, Bob, Alan, and Linus."
"We will," Linus replied.
We then waved at her and ran back toward the guildhall.
"Luckily, she hadn’t left yet," I said.
"Hmm," Bob nodded. He seemed very focused. It was rare to see him like this.
As we were running, a carriage suddenly passed by us. I glanced at it, and saw a hooded figure inside. It looked back at me, and in that instant, I felt a chill down my spine. It was like déjà vu... I had felt this exact sensation before, but I couldn’t remember when or where.
The carriage continued on, heading toward the west gate.
Was it also going to Daisy Town? The question lingered in my mind, but I chose to ignore it.
As we kept running, we suddenly noticed black shadows darting across the rooftops, as if chasing something.
"Look!" I pointed at the roof. There were about three of them, each moving swiftly like a wraith.
"Those are the robed figures, just like the ones we encountered in the cave," Bob said.
"They must be up to no good," I added.
"Are they enemies?" Linus asked. He didn’t know the full story of our fight against these figures, since the guildmaster had forbidden us from telling anyone.
"Yes!" Bob and I answered at the same time.
"They’re definitely involved in the attack on Daisy Town. We can’t let them go!" Bob said, and immediately changed direction to chase them.
Me and Linus followed closely behind.
I could only hope we’d still make it back to the guild in time.
---
The robed figures were dashing and jumping across the rooftops. They had received orders to find Cynthia after discovering one of their members had been slain near her house. She hadn’t shown up to meet Kelar today.
But as they moved, a sudden sound erupted beside them...
Bang!
They instantly scattered and evaded, eyes snapping toward the figure below them.
That figure... was me. I had just fired Indra, hoping to draw their attention.
As they prepared to retaliate, Bob and Linus arrived from behind and launched their attacks.
A battle broke out, two versus three. I immediately ran toward the stairs that led up to the roof. I really wished we drawn a card that let us easily jump or reach high places.
Ping! Ping!
The clash of steel echoed in the air. As I reached the rooftop, I quickly changed my class to Super Novice, the most versatile class in our arsenal. I dashed forward using Dash Slash, closing the distance to one of the enemies. He noticed me just in time and swung his dagger.
I crouched, narrowly avoiding the blade, then fired Indra again. He leapt backward, dodging the shot.
I stepped back as well, regrouping with Bob and Linus. The three of us now stood against the three enemies, our eyes locked as tension thick in the air.
Boom!
Rain suddenly poured down from above. In an instant, it became a heavy downpour.
It looked like we were going to be late joining the others for the carriage ride to Daisy Town.
