Douluo Dalu: Sign in to the Flame Princess-Chapter 76 - : Oscar’s Misfortune
Chapter 76 - 76: Oscar’s Misfortune
Carrying Ning Rongrong on his back, Zhao Ming soon arrived at the girls' dormitory. He stood at the entrance and called out a few times, but there was no response.
"That's strange. Where could they have gone?" Zhao Ming wondered. It was already getting late, and logically, the girls wouldn't be wandering around at this hour.
Since no one was there, he figured it wouldn't be improper for him to enter.
Zhao Ming carried Ning Rongrong into the dormitory, and as soon as he stepped inside, a mixture of delicate, distinct fragrances greeted him.
He glanced around the room casually. There wasn't much to see; after all, with his experience, he had seen everything there was to see.
Following Ning Rongrong's instructions, Zhao Ming gently placed her on a soft, pink bed.
"Hurry up and take a shower. I'll drink some water and leave," Zhao Ming said as he grabbed a cup from the table beside her bed and went to the hot water tap to fill it.
Ning Rongrong's eyes widened as she watched Zhao Ming, unable to say anything before he started drinking from her cup.
Was this... an indirect kiss?
Her mind went blank, and her face flushed red as her big eyes blinked at Zhao Ming in surprise.
"Why aren't you moving?" Zhao Ming asked after finishing his drink. "Don't tell me you want me to help you with your shower? That's a bit too much. I don't take on such difficult tasks."
"You!! I can bathe myself! Mind your own business! You should leave the girls' dormitory already. What if Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing come back? It'll be awkward!" Ning Rongrong snapped, flustered by Zhao Ming's teasing.
She had just been thinking something nice about him, and in the next moment, he was back to irritating her! How infuriating!
So many people would dream of giving me a bath, yet he calls it a 'difficult task'? Unbelievable!
"Well, I'll be going then. Bye-bye." Zhao Ming didn't want to linger in the girls' dormitory any longer than necessary, so he gave a casual wave and left.
As she watched him walk away, Ning Rongrong suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of loss.
She didn't understand why. Even though Zhao Ming always irritated her, she found that after a while, her anger would fade. The next time she saw him, she couldn't help but forgive him.
Could it be that I've fallen for him?
Ning Rongrong shook her head, trying to dismiss the thought. Impossible! I'm the proud young lady of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan! There's no way I could like someone like Zhao Ming!
But the more she tried to convince herself, the more unsettled she felt.
...
After leaving the dormitory, Zhao Ming encountered a familiar figure—Oscar.
Today, Oscar had shaved off his mustache, revealing a clean, handsome face. Unlike Dai Mubai's sharp and wicked features, Oscar's appearance was more refined, like a carefree young noble.
To be honest, Oscar had a natural flair for looking like a charming gentleman. If this were some tragic romance drama, he would definitely play the sad, noble-hearted second lead.
Oscar was dressed in white formal attire and carrying a pot of fragrant soup.
Zhao Ming quickly deduced that this was meant for Ning Rongrong. Earlier, Flender had made both Ning Rongrong and Oscar, as support-type Spirit Masters, run around the village. While Oscar's physical condition was slightly better than Ning Rongrong's, it wasn't by much. He must have just recently finished his own laps.
Running twenty laps was no easy feat for support-type Spirit Masters. Zhao Ming could tell from Oscar's tired expression that the run had taken a toll on him. And yet, here he was, bringing a pot of soup, likely containing medicinal ingredients, for Ning Rongrong.
Oscar was really thoughtful.
"What were you doing coming out of the girls' dormitory?" Oscar asked, his eyes wide with surprise as he looked at Zhao Ming.
Zhao Ming's face had a sheen of sweat, and his clothes were damp, especially around his back. He looked exhausted.
"I'm exhausted. Almost killed me," Zhao Ming mumbled, walking up to Oscar, panting slightly.
"Exhausted?" Oscar's face darkened upon hearing Zhao Ming's words.
He glanced at the girls' dormitory, then at Zhao Ming.
The situation painted an unmistakable picture in his mind. However, given that it was late and Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu should be in the dormitory as well, he felt that what he was imagining probably wasn't possible.
After all, Oscar knew Zhu Zhuqing's cold nature. She wouldn't allow Zhao Ming to do anything improper in the dormitory.
"Hey, brother, what are you doing here?" Zhao Ming asked, walking over and patting Oscar on the shoulder with a friendly smile.
"I was worried that Rongrong might be hungry after the run, so I made some chicken soup for her," Oscar hesitated before answering.
"Oh, I see. Rongrong's in the dormitory now," Zhao Ming replied casually. Then, as if it were an afterthought, he added, "She's the only one in there at the moment."
"What did you just say?" Oscar's expression changed drastically. "You mean Rongrong is alone in the dormitory?"
Crap! Oscar's mind raced.
Rongrong was alone in the dormitory, and Zhao Ming had just come out of there. Zhao Ming looked exhausted, with sweat on his forehead and his clothes soaked.
Connecting all these unrelated dots, Oscar came to a gut-wrenching conclusion.
The girl he had his eye on, who he hadn't even had a chance to court, had already been swept away by someone else. Not only that, but it seemed they had already gone all the way!
This revelation hit Oscar like a bolt of lightning from the clear sky!
The arrival of three female students at Shrek Academy had been a rare occurrence. Xiao Wu was out of the question—Oscar could tell she was already close to Zhao Ming before they even joined the academy.
Zhu Zhuqing? As a cold, attack-type Spirit Master, she wasn't an ideal match for him, an auxiliary Spirit Master. Moreover, she was unapproachable and definitely wouldn't suit him.
In the Spirit Master world, auxiliary Spirit Masters were typically paired with attack-type male Spirit Masters. It was a complementary pairing. But if an auxiliary male Spirit Master were paired with an attack-type female Spirit Master, it would be an awkward combination.
It would be difficult for Oscar to take the lead in such a relationship. If the woman refused to cooperate, he wouldn't be able to do much, considering he was just a support-type Spirit Master.
In a worst-case scenario, if the woman used her Spirit Power to lock her legs, there might be nothing Oscar could do about it.
So, his best hope had been Ning Rongrong, another auxiliary-type Spirit Master.
