Doted by Many: I became the Top-Tier Celebrity!-Chapter 254 - 253: Women of Wealthy Families—All Are Cunning Experts
Meredith Ford nodded gently, her almond-shaped eyes moved slightly, the corners curving slightly upward.
Her eyes were like peach blossoms, but longer than peach blossom eyes, with upward tilting corners. Her pupils were unclear, giving a look of half-drunkenness as she softly said, "Second Brother..."
"Put on your shoes," Julian Ford repeated, his voice still low, revealing no trace of his thoughts.
She lowered her head to look at her feet, realizing they were in such a condition.
Meredith’s eyes grew a bit misty: "It’s a bit painful, I’ll just sit down."
With that, she sat on the other sofa where May Sloane was lying.
She glanced at May’s face, frowning: "Have you investigated what happened?"
Julian’s narrow, slanted eyes were highly intimidating as he softly replied, "We’re looking into it, my guess is..."
He paused, pretending to be mysterious, then smiled again, "It was deliberate."
Meredith looked at him in surprise, "Deliberate?"
"Yes."
Maxim Ford looked at Meredith’s foot, where fresh blood was dripping. The cold and indifferent look in his eyes softened as he said quietly, "Go get Miss Ford some slippers."
"Yes."
The bodyguard handed the shoes to Meredith, and after she put them on, she seemed to touch a wound and let out a soft hum, a bit spoiled: "It hurts."
However, no one paid her any mind.
Meredith, raised with the world in her palm since childhood, felt a complicated mix of sourness and discomfort.
At last, unable to hold back, she looked at her brother, her pretty eyes blinking with a proud charm: "Brother, now that you have someone in your heart, are you going to abandon me, your sister?"
"Don’t be silly." With the elevator accident yet to be clarified, Maxim did not trust her.
Tiana Thorne, his only biological sister, was his bottom line.
Meredith, spoiled since young, would stop at nothing to get what she wanted.
Even with Tiana’s feet in such condition, Maxim had said nothing of concern, instead, her always troublesome second brother asked her to wear shoes, only then did he remember to have someone fetch shoes for her, causing her temper to flare.
Meredith flushed, huffed: "Still, she’s not my sister-in-law, if she truly becomes my sister-in-law, will you throw me out later?"
Maxim frowned: "Meredith."
This call was very heavy, scolding her.
Meredith had never heard such a harsh tone from her elder brother, and immediately, her eyes reddened, tears welling up as she jumped off the chair, gasping in pain as her feet hit the ground.
On her radiant face, a trace of defiance: "I’ve done enough, the brothers have distanced themselves from me for her, don’t expect me to accept her in the future!"
Julian furrowed his brow, a layer of cold mist in his eyes, not restraining the young lady’s temper, but rather letting it escalate.
Maxim felt helpless: "Meredith, you..."
"I don’t want to hear it, don’t want to hear it!"
Meredith interrupted him, frowning, then turned to the couple of front desk attendants who were exchanging glances, her almond eyes coldly fierce: "Do you know who I am?"
"Miss Ford." The three replied respectfully, fearing to offend this spoiled young lady.
"I’ll explain the situation to President Shaw, close the business for a week, and renovate. If I hear even a word about today’s events anywhere else, I don’t need to spell out the consequences. If you want to try, I’m ready at any time." Meredith’s voice was haughty.
"We wouldn’t dare." The three lowered their heads.
As Meredith walked out, she called, "Chad, give me their information."
Chad nodded: "Alright, Miss."
Everyone’s hearts trembled a bit, though this spoiled Ford family young lady threw temper tantrums indiscriminately, she was quite sharp.
As a woman, she knew better how to handle those three front desk ladies.
Ordering the information on them before leaving, such that there’s no fear they’ll spread today’s events recklessly.
After all, if it got out that the two Ford brothers neglected their sister over a celebrity, it would be embarrassing for old Mr. Ford.
Indeed, women of noble families are all shrewd individuals.
When Meredith came to where her bodyguard Quentin Sharp was, she hooked his neck with one hand and commanded, looking up: "Carry me, my feet hurt, take me away from here."
"Yes." Quentin, twenty-seven years old, had been following her for over five years, obeying her every command.
Quentin carried her in his arms like a princess and strode away.
Julian frowned, perhaps it really was a misunderstanding, he whispered: "Watch over her, I’ll handle things here."
He didn’t want Meredith complaining to their father, affecting future plans of bringing his sister home.
Maxim looked at his still unconscious little sister: "Alright."
Maxim turned to a southern couple, picking up a pen at the reception desk to sign his name on a card before handing it to them, his voice very courteous: "Sir, if you and your wife need any help in the future, come find me with this card."
The man, almost fifty, took the card, black and gold in a high-end design with the striking name: Maxim Ford.
Just those three words made him tremble slightly.
Maxim added, "Of course, as for what happened today, I hope you both..."
The man nodded repeatedly: "Rest assured, it might affect that girl’s acting career, I won’t speak of it."
His wife was a fan of that girl, he naturally recognized her too.
"Thank you."
Neither Maxim nor Meredith wanted the incident to become widespread, but their reasons differed.
He had promised Tiana to conceal her identity as the lost heiress of the Ford family, though he didn’t know why, he had to follow through.
Secondly, as that middle-aged man mentioned, it could affect Tiana’s acting career.
Maxim instructed Chad to investigate further, then quickly left with his car keys.
When Quentin received Julian’s call, he rushed over, and seeing the scene in the lobby, his heart sank.
What just happened?
Why were Tiana Thorne and her agent here?
The more important thing was, why was Second Master holding Tiana Thorne?
He hurried over: "Second Master, this is?"
"When you left, what was Ella Rivers doing?" Until confirmed whether it was an elevator malfunction instead of sabotage, Ella Rivers needed to be guarded against.
"She was filming," Quentin replied.
Julian furrowed his brow in contemplation, his slanted eyes deep in thought.
That’s when the sound of an ambulance came from outside.
Julian felt more at ease.
He looked towards the door, narrowing his eyes when he saw the doctors and nurses alighting from the vehicle.
The last to step out was Aiden Shaw.
His arm was in a sling, and though clearly injured, his 185 cm frame was upright and his presence intense. When their eyes met, his sharp brows furrowed in a cold glare.
Julian passed Tiana to the doctors and approached Aiden Shaw: "Why are you here?"
