Chapter 32 -32: Exposed Worry
Cherish Turner was sleeping soundly when her slumber was abruptly interrupted by a phone call.
She picked up her phone without even looking at the caller ID.
“Hello…” Her languid voice, with a hint of sensuality, was enticing.
However, little Lewis on the other end of the line had no heart to appreciate it!
“Auntie Cherish…wah…can you come and save my dad, please? He’s going to…die…” And with that, Lewis burst into loud sobbing.
At first, Cherish had no idea what was going on. But as soon as she heard Lewis crying, she felt apprehensive.
“Lewis, what happened?” Rubbing her eyes and forcing herself to be fully awake—and also afraid to be heard by her parents next door—she whispered into the phone.
“My dad’s about to die…” The little boy’s words were somewhat slurred.
What? About to die? How could that be?
As Lewis described the state William Griffith was in, Cherish grew frightened. She had never seen such a tall and imposing man in such a state before.
“Auntie Cherish, please hurry! If you don’t come, my dad will…die…” The sadness in Lewis’s voice made Cherish hesitant.
“Don’t worry, Lewis, I’ll be right there. Just wait for me.” After some thought, she decided to go anyway. Although she found William annoying, she quite liked Lewis! She couldn’t ignore the poor, crying child. After convincing herself with a legitimate reason, Cherish put on her coat, grabbed her purse, and stealthily left her warm nest.
By the time she arrived at Deep Wave Mansion in a taxi, half an hour had passed. Lewis had left the door open, and Cherish hurriedly went upstairs to find him kneeling by the bed, his tear-streaked face contorted in anguish as he looked up at her.
Bloody hell, did she arrive too late?
Cherish was afraid. Was the prone figure in the room William’s lifeless body?
She found herself rooted to the spot, unable to move.
It was not until Lewis came over to pull her inside that she finally entered the room.
“Hey, William Griffith, are you okay?” Cherish slapped his face, which was burning hot.

Feeling his forehead, she found it full of sweat and scorching hot!
His dry and pale lips mumbled, “Cherish…”
Though she didn’t quite catch what he said, let alone the name he muttered, she realized that his condition—at least—would not be fatal.
Swiftly making an emergency call, medical help arrived shortly after, and together they took William to the hospital.
While William was still in the emergency room, Cherish and Lewis waited outside. In the haste, Lewis had only put on a pair of slippers, and the cold hospital corridor caused him to curl up into a ball.
Noticing the sight, Cherish felt a pang of sympathy. She went over, picked him up, and tucked his little feet inside her coat.
“Feeling warmer now? Tell Auntie if you’re still cold.” Cherish was rarely this patient and gentle with children, even though she didn’t usually like them.
This was the first time Lewis had experienced such treatment. The warmth of Cherish’s embrace felt enormous and comforting, even more than his father’s.
His small face suddenly flushed red, and his young heart began to feel a different kind of affection for this woman who was part-sister, part-aunt in his life.
How he wished he could always be held and kept warm by Auntie Cherish.
Snuggling into her bosom, the little fellow finally relaxed.
Just then, the doctor opened the door and walked towards them with a stern expression.
