Dominate the Super Bowl-Chapter 1660 - 1659: Team Atmosphere
"Shh."
"Quiet, stay quiet."
"We can’t give ourselves away."
Hardman was very tired; he was constantly trying to control the situation, but these freshmen and off-season recruits were like untamed wild horses, completely unable to calm down—
The Kansas City Chiefs’ winning streak came to a halt; to them, it was more of a shock for the onlookers rather than a personal blow.
After all, they had only played with the team for a short four games, hadn’t experienced the long journey before; at this moment, they were not much different from other bystanders, unable to believe that the Kansas City Chiefs actually lost like this, the bustling commotion was unstoppable.
Hardman called for them to stay in the parking lot to give Li Wei a surprise; everyone agreed, driving away from the stadium as planned, then circling back, only to find the parking lot still crowded, with veteran players’ cars parked in place.
Suddenly, everyone was in an uproar, wildly excited.
Hardman had to change the plan, turning a surprise for Li Wei into a surprise for everyone.
They all obediently hid in the parking lot, but in just a few words, they couldn’t keep quiet, like a group of young college students.
Wait, these freshmen were indeed young people who hadn’t graduated from college.
Hardman felt a wave of helplessness.
Hardman had tried his best but still couldn’t control the situation, wondering how on earth Li Wei did it, always able to get the entire locker room to quiet down and focus just with a few words.
Maybe, this is the power of leadership?
While he was letting his thoughts wander, Bowen dashed out, "They’re coming, they’re leaving the locker room."
Bowen had sneaked inside the building to act as a lookout to ensure their surprise plan’s success.
Unexpectedly, after Bowen’s notification, the parking lot only got more lively instead of calming down—
"They’re coming, they’re coming!"
"So exciting!"
"Can we just rush out in front of the coach?"
"Will the coach reflexively throw a punch?"
"Surprise surprise!"
The noise was overwhelming, giving Hardman a headache.
For a moment, Hardman couldn’t help but question reality: Is this normal?
The Kansas City Chiefs were in trouble, and their long undefeated streak was broken. Shouldn’t they be frustrated, angry, depressed, or sad? Shouldn’t they be sharpening their swords for a comeback? Or be utterly disheartened and indifferent?
What was going on in front of him? Things didn’t seem right, did they?
But now there was no time to think deeply, and Hardman hurriedly collected his scattered thoughts and frantically reminded everyone aloud.
"Shh. Ready. Ready!"
The murmurs finally quieted down, but only for less than a second before Diggs jumped in.
"Are we really not going to get punched by the rookie?"
Then someone next to him chimed in, "Aren’t you just hoping for the rookie to punch you? Perfect."
Pfft.
Everyone chuckled under their breath, the scene was chaotic.
Hardman was about to remind everyone again, but at this point, he already heard the noisy voices of Hill and Kelsey from the front, a sense of urgency swept over them.
Instantly, everyone fell silent, each one pressing their throats, not a sound could be heard.
Diggs pressed himself against the car door, holding his breath with all his might to contain his excitement, his eyes rolling with uncontrollable enthusiasm, seemingly ready to spring into action at any moment.
Bowen used the nearby vehicle to hide himself, carefully tucking his hands, feet, and shoulders behind the vehicle, adopting a sprinter’s starting position.
Thud. Thud-thud-thud-thud!
Their hearts pounded faster and faster, violently striking their ribcages, as if ready to burst from their chests any moment.
Then Bowen realized something, a fatal detail:
Who’s giving the order? When do they make their move?
Ah, crap.
Just then, Li Wei’s familiar voice came from the front.
"Count to three, come out one by one, we’re not playing hide and seek."
In a split second, Bowen felt his hot blood freeze into ice, frozen in place like an ice sculpture, his mind buzzing.
Hardman’s neck stiffened, then drooped down—
He shouldn’t be surprised, right? Why would he be surprised? Li Wei is Li Wei; he always knows everything happening in the locker room, always sees through their thoughts, there’s a reason he’s a team leader, they can’t hide their every move from him.
Raising his head, Hardman could see Diggs and Bowen looking at him from different directions, all frozen in place, panic-stricken like wooden statues.
Everyone was at a loss.
Hardman exhaled lightly, stood up from behind the car, forced a smile uglier than a cry, and spread his hands wide like fireworks.
"Hey, rookie, surprise!"
Immediately, Diggs jumped high, shouting jubilantly, "Surprise!"
Without even reacting, Diggs dashed forward, charging towards Li Wei, only to notice that something seemed off with the atmosphere half a beat later—
A chilling wind blew from behind.
Bathed in Li Wei’s cryptic gaze, Diggs could almost see Li Wei’s clenched fist, sending shivers down his spine.
Slamming on an emergency brake, Diggs stopped himself, then turned around to see everyone else sluggishly standing up, trying to muster smiles but unable to hide their nervousness, haphazardly saying "Surprise," a complete disaster.
Diggs stopped and stomped his feet, "Guys, enthusiasm, enthusiasm! We should be more lively!"
"Come on, three, two, one. Surprise!"
Diggs tried to stir up passion, but the first attempt failed; the second time, although a bit louder, everyone was still exchanging glances, and the cheers were neither synchronized nor cohesive.
Looking dejected, Diggs drooped his shoulders, turned to Li Wei with a conflicted and gloomy expression, "Rookie, surprise."
Unexpectedly, as soon as Diggs finished speaking, the back erupted with a unified and thunderous shout, "Surprise!"
Diggs’ heart reignited, raising his arms high, looking at Li Wei, his smile fully blossomed, his eyes bright and brimming with joy.
"Let’s fight together!"
From behind, Hardman finally mustered his courage, stepping forward, "Rookie, no matter what happens, we’ll face it together, don’t ever forget about me."
Diggs, "Yes, yes, count me in."
Bowen also emerged from the line of cars, "And me."
One by one, they stepped forward.
Diggs grew more excited, more exhilarated, every time someone emerged, he jumped up, using all his strength to express his joy and happiness, looking at Li Wei with bright eyes, his expression and demeanor plainly saying:
Did you see it? Rookie, did you see it? We’re all united.
The uncontainable and unabashed sincerity lay bare before their eyes, fervent honesty, blazing under the setting sun.
