Dominate the Super Bowl-Chapter 1657 - 1656: Outsiders
In the shower room, everyone froze in place—
Just like a game of freeze tag.
Watt was utterly confused. All they needed to do was avoid speaking, but why was everyone standing rigidly, with only their eyes darting around?
Evidently, Watt wasn’t the only one with questions. Kelsey had them too, mouthing to Hill, "Why aren’t we moving at all?"
Hill couldn’t read lips and completely failed to interpret Kelsey’s mouth movements. He dared not move, only his eyes rolled around to express his confusion.
They were communicating like chickens and ducks, unable to understand each other, leaving both of them frustrated and dejected.
Watt thought, the focus isn’t here, it’s outside with Li Wei and Mahomes. Are they still going out? A surprise?
Before Watt could figure it out, there was a loud bang from the locker room behind them, "Surprise!"
Watt’s heart skipped a beat, thinking he mistakenly voiced his thoughts. He quickly scanned the shower room and found everyone was stunned.
They looked at each other, frozen like statues.
Hill rolled his eyes in frustration, clenched his fists, and silently roared to the sky, "Damn..."
Kelsey quickly looked at Watt, and they exchanged glances. Together, they waved everyone in the shower room to follow and rushed out.
The sound of chaotic footsteps betrayed their presence, soon drowned out by scattered shouts—
"Surprise!"
Everyone calling out separately, with no coordination whatsoever, the so-called surprise was ineffective, more like a circus act.
If Charlie Chaplin were alive, he would happily make a silent comedy from this scene.
Watt scanned the locker room quickly and saw Frank Clark sprawled awkwardly on the floor, yet earnestly trying to make the surprise gestures, his eyes almost popping out.
Frank Clark was usually a lone wolf, rarely participating in group activities like this. Seeing him suddenly in this state nearly made Watt doubt his eyes.
Frank Clark was clearly embarrassed; his right-hand locker was a mess, with uniforms, shoes, and personal items strewn about. You could imagine that big guy crammed into a ball hiding inside.
Not just Watt, but Li Wei and Mahomes stood at the front, shocked as they looked at Frank Clark—
However! Just as one wave subsided, another wave surged!
Li Wei and Mahomes again gaped in surprise, raising their heads as the crowd came roaring out of the shower room, wave after wave. Jostling together, pushing and shoving, confused and chaotic.
Kelsey, at the front, tried to stop and control his body, but Hill, Brilland, and a few others behind couldn’t stop and crashed into him, causing Kelsey’s arms to spin like windmills as he struggled to keep his balance.
Watt intervened in time, grabbing Kelsey and controlling the situation, avoiding disaster.
But...
Kelsey was panting, even breaking into a sweat. He looked at Li Wei and Mahomes, unable to control himself and swore.
"Damn."
Nevertheless, he ignored it, turned around, and looked back, surveying the scene, "Count to one. Three. Two."
A pause!
"Surprise ahhhhh!"
This time, the Kansas City Chiefs’ four-season-long developed chemistry finally collided. Everyone temporarily forgot their awkwardness and panic, shouting in unison. Their synchronized voices reverberated throughout the locker room, even echoing.
Frank Clark also forgot his embarrassment, jumped to his feet, holding his tailbone, jogged to hide behind Watt, joined the group with his left hand raised high, shouting.
Poof.
Li Wei couldn’t hold it and burst into laughter, "Ha!"
Looking at the crowd before him, Li Wei attempted to control himself, planning to make a quip. But upon careful observation, their faces are too comically awkward—
A thoroughly failed surprise.
Ha ha ha!
Li Wei laughed so hard he leaned back and forth, "You... you really should see your expressions now... hahahaha..."
Kelsey was frustrated beyond measure, cursing again, turning to Hill, "This is all your fault, the plan’s a mess, what is this?"
"Frank, why were you hiding there?"
"Once you saw JJ and Travis, you should’ve come out!"
"I was about to come out, but got stuck halfway, then the rookies came in. I was half in, half out, how embarrassing, you know?"
"When did you get here?"
"Who planned this? It’s a mess, do you know what you’re doing?"
Chattering away, rowdily.
A flurry of spit, the scene bursting with noise, bickering and attacking each other, with the real protagonist sidelined.
The party, slightly out of control.
Li Wei and Mahomes exchanged shocked glances, Mahomes couldn’t resist, his lips twitching, finally laughing aloud.
Li Wei was slightly helpless, he raised his voice, "Quiet."
That was clearly ineffective as the bustling noise completely drowned Li Wei’s voice.
Li Wei had to raise his voice, full of energy, and shout, "Quiet!"
Finally!
The world quieted down, all eyes focused on Li Wei.
Li Wei looked at Watt, Kelsey, Hill, and others, "Why are you all here, weren’t you supposed to have gone back?"
Everyone looked at each other, ultimately focusing on Kelsey.
Kelsey rolled his eyes, "So now everyone agreed, I’m the scapegoat, right? Can you bear to see me tortured by the rookies until I’m sick?"
Muttering to himself, Kelsey didn’t wait for a response, and quickly turned to Watt, "It was JJ’s idea."
Watt: ???
Hill lowered his head slightly towards Watt, using ventriloquism, "Congratulations on becoming the new scapegoat king."
Watt blinked, looking at Kelsey whistling while turning away, why does it feel weird?
But Watt didn’t argue, instead, he looked at Li Wei, hesitating, thoughts and words swirling at the tip of his tongue. What seemed simple in Houston Texans now felt extremely difficult in the Kansas City Chiefs. He had been in Kansas City for barely eight months, was he really qualified to speak for the locker room?
Before Watt could speak, Li Wei’s voice came from the front, "JJ, never seen you so hesitant."
Watt suddenly raised his eyes, realizing his own caution.
Looking at the honest eyes of Li Wei, his tension and anxiety slightly eased. Watt clenched his fist in encouragement and finally spoke up.
"We... um, I’m worried about you."
Kelsey lowered his voice to encourage Watt, "Be bold, say ’we’."
Watt raised his voice and repeated, "We’re worried about you."
