Dominate the Super Bowl-Chapter 1535 - 1534: Spotlight Stealer
Laughter, cheers, screams... It never stops, surging and roaring, as if the Berlin Film Festival is experiencing an unprecedented night of revelry.
Not only the reporters, but even passersby on the street couldn’t help but stop because of the spectacle before them.
Then you could see the crowd gradually filling up the red carpet area in front of the Film Palace, a scene not seen outside of a premiere.
Rumor has it that even the local German TV stations were alerted, with live broadcast vans on their way.
Chatrian had only one thought in his mind:
Opportunity.
It had been a long, long time since the Berlin Film Festival stood under such a spotlight.
Amidst the clamor and hubbub, Chatrian escorted Li Wei into the official Berlin Film Festival vehicle. He temporarily set aside his busy work, accompanying Li Wei into the car, preparing to personally escort him back to the hotel. As they drove away, leaving the sea of people behind, the lingering heat waves in the air finally settled with the start of the engine.
However, before they could calm down, shouts erupted again from outside the car window.
"Li Wei ahhhhhhhhhhh..."
Sharp and prolonged, dragging out in the gusty wind, though lonely, it exploded in the quiet night sky without the din and noise, becoming clearer and more direct, the emotions in the voice vividly exposed.
Li Wei exchanged a glance with Chatrian, and they both burst into laughter.
Li Wei looked at Chatrian, full of innocence, "I swear, I have nothing to do with tonight’s events."
Chatrian smiled, "Are you sure? I’m nearly 99.99% certain that everything started because of you."
Paused for a moment, he joked, "But don’t worry, it’s a good thing, no one caused trouble, and no one needs to be held accountable."
Li Wei let out a long breath, "I hope no mosquito was harmed."
Chatrian: ???
Seeing Li Wei’s serious expression, Chatrian couldn’t hold it in, his smile blossomed fully, "Look at my memory, I forgot to introduce myself, Carlo Chatrian, Artistic Director of the Berlin Film Festival, rest assured, we have no intention of committing a crime, I am merely here to escort you back to the hotel."
Li Wei, "Oh, I’m not worried. Although I’m not James Bond, I’m also not that easily subdued."
Chatrian gently lifted his chin, "It seems you’re not entirely ignorant about movies either."
Li Wei shook his head lightly, "Mr. Chatrian might not know, but I’m truly here to watch movies, how could I not do a bit of homework beforehand?"
Chatrian was taken aback, for a second, he really believed it, but seeing the glint of humor in Li Wei’s eyes, he realized it was a joke.
Li Wei glanced forward, "Turning right here will get us to the destination. I live here, yet Mr. Chatrian personally escorts me back, it’s too kind."
Thirty seconds?
Wait, maybe even less than thirty seconds, and they were already there? Looking back, he could still see the crowd spilling out from the entrance of the Film Palace.
The driver, slightly troubled, glanced at Chatrian through the rearview mirror.
Chatrian gently pressed down on the back of the front passenger seat with his right hand, signaling the driver to be patient, as they stopped at a red light intersection.
Chatrian looked at Li Wei, eyes filled with longing, yet without time to deliberate, he had to control the scene in a flash.
"The crowd is still in a frenzy. If you return to the hotel and accidentally expose your whereabouts, the night’s excitement and noise might continue for a while."
"How about we take a loop around, enjoy the night view of Berlin, and wait for the heat to cool down a bit, then quietly enter the parking lot through the back door?"
"What do you think?"
Chatrian gazed into Ansen’s eyes, striving to show his sincerity, "Although Berlin can’t compare to New York, the night view here has its charm."
Ansen remained silent, patient.
Then, the corners of his mouth slightly lifted, "This isn’t a kidnapping, right?"
Chatrian was stunned.
The next second, the driver couldn’t help but chuckle.
At that moment, Chatrian realized he had been too nervous and engrossed to catch the humor—
which was rare for him.
Only now did Chatrian seriously consider Li Wei.
In truth, Chatrian knew nothing about football, Li Wei’s only value lay in his influence, no different from a tool, Chatrian didn’t care about Li Wei’s image, personality, emotions, as long as he could bring traffic to the Berlin Film Festival.
Yet now, his thoughts slightly shifted, seeing Li Wei’s uniqueness.
But only for a moment, Chatrian showcased his ability, "If this was a crime, honestly, I’m not sure who the victim is. Maybe for now, it seems like we have the upper hand, but you seem like you could turn into Jason Bourne at any moment."
Jason Bourne, the protagonist of "The Bourne Identity", a ruthless person who could turn a pen into a murder weapon.
Chatrian initially thought he needed to explain who Jason Bourne was, but then Li Wei burst into laughter, nodding in agreement. "The version of me in my mind is at best Ethan Hunt level, didn’t expect Jason Bourne? I like it."
Ethan Hunt, the protagonist of "Mission Impossible" series.
Chatrian was dumbfounded, "Are you sure? In the past two years, Ethan Hunt has been jumping off cliffs and clinging onto planes, I think he’s challenging a superhero."
Li Wei slightly opened his mouth, "Oh, sorry, I’ve been busy training these past two years, haven’t watched movies, didn’t know he evolved so much."
Chatrian burst into laughter, naturally flowing out, looking Li Wei in the eye, "Has anyone told you, you’re a really interesting guy?"
Apparently, Chatrian wasn’t aware of Li Wei’s past interactions with media journalists, and Li Wei wasn’t about to admit, "Thank you for the compliment, a bit flustered though."
Chatrian realized he might need to slightly adjust his perception of Li Wei, "You just said, you specifically came to watch movies?"
Night had fallen, thick and profound.
Nobody knew that Chatrian and Li Wei had cruised around Berlin for half an hour. Despite the curiosity of the reporters, unfortunately, there was no way to find out what happened.
However, all of Berlin was still abuzz with excitement due to Li Wei’s unexpected crossover appearance, to the extent that for the next twelve hours, the hot topics remained centered around Li Wei.
One being, "Li Wei is here"; and the other being, "Who is Li Wei?"
A name unfamiliar, unrelated to film, yet became the focus of the Berlin Film Festival. A small portion of loyal film enthusiasts sneered at this, refusing to associate the film festival with a professional player, claiming Li Wei’s appearance blurred the focus, dimming the films—
Disappointing.
These film enthusiasts voiced their dissatisfaction for "Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always," believing Li Wei’s presence stole the limelight from the films.
The dislike and resistance towards Li Wei were not insignificant, some even thought Li Wei appeared in Berlin just to ride the wave, trying to build his persona, using the Berlin Film Festival as a tool for self-promotion, single-handedly robbing the festival of its entire brilliance.
But unexpectedly, these accusations and condemnations didn’t last long, the entire situation had turned completely upside-down, a full 180-degree reversal.
