Chapter 669: Chapter 672: The Fifth Underground Level

Looking at the bald man before him, Liu Ergou said with a smile, "You don’t know what I’m here for? Do I really have to spell it out?"

Hearing Liu Ergou’s words, the bald man couldn’t help but scratch his head. "Hm? Here to have some fun, are you?" he said. "Alright, who referred you? You need to tell me clearly before you can go in. Otherwise, get the hell out!"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou’s heart skipped a beat. From just those few sentences, he had already gathered some useful information. For one, the place required a referral to get in. Furthermore, it was clearly some kind of entertainment venue.

What kind of entertainment, Liu Ergou had no idea. Right now, the priority was to answer the bald man’s question. If he let the man sense that something was wrong, there would be trouble. At this thought, Liu Ergou’s mind started racing as he tried to invent a referrer.

However, the bald man standing before Liu Ergou saw him remain silent, and his brow began to furrow. In less than half a minute, his brow was knitted so tightly you could have squashed a fly between his wrinkles. Seeing that Liu Ergou still wasn’t talking, the bald man urged, "Hurry up and tell me who referred you! Stop hemming and hawing. If you don’t talk now, just get lost!"

Seeing that he was about to be exposed, Liu Ergou couldn’t afford to hesitate. His eyes darted around, and he immediately said, "Hey, buddy, what’s the rush? I just got distracted thinking about something else. You were asking about the referrer, right? My referrer is Old Wu!"

When the bald man heard Liu Ergou say his referrer was Old Wu, a flicker of confusion crossed his eyes. "Old Wu? Which Old Wu? Be more specific. What’s his full name? Where does he live?"

When the bald man pressed for such detail, a bead of cold sweat trickled down Liu Ergou’s forehead. Even so, he didn’t panic. He feigned a calm demeanor and said, "Brother, what kind of question is that? We’re all just out here to have fun; who asks for a guy’s full name? But if you want specifics, he’s that guy from the bar—you know, the short one with the shifty, rat-like eyes. Does that ring a bell now?"

After thinking for a moment, the bald man vaguely recalled a shifty-eyed person like that, though he couldn’t remember his name. But how can I turn away a customer who comes knocking? he thought. This is money we’re talking about. If I turn him away, I might as well just close up shop and go home.

With this thought, the bald man’s expression instantly changed to a welcoming smile as he opened the main door. "Ah, so Old Wu sent you! Come in, quick, come on in." The bald man ushered Liu Ergou inside enthusiastically.

"So, my friend, what are you here to enjoy?" the bald man asked as he led Liu Ergou deeper inside. "Whatever you want, we have it all. There’s nothing you can’t imagine that we can’t provide! So tell me, brother, what’s your pleasure?"

Liu Ergou raised an eyebrow at the bald man’s words. What a boast, he thought. Nothing they can’t do, only things I can’t imagine? Despite the grand claims, Liu Ergou was completely in the dark about this place. After a brief pause, he knew how he had to respond. He frowned deeply, pretending to be lost in thought. After what felt like several minutes, he finally spoke. "Tsk. Brother, this is my first time here, so I’m completely clueless. How about this—why don’t you recommend something for me? I trust your judgment."

As he spoke, Liu Ergou pulled a thick wad of red bills from his coat and discreetly slipped it into the bald man’s hand. Feeling the cash, the bald man’s face split into a wide grin. His attitude toward Liu Ergou instantly became several degrees more respectful. In his eyes, Liu Ergou had just transformed into a bona fide God of Wealth.

"Ah, you’re too kind!" the bald man beamed, and he immediately began to inform Liu Ergou about the facility. "Since you trust me, I’ll be happy to elaborate. Our establishment has five underground levels. The first level isn’t much to talk about; it’s just a restaurant, though the food is rather exotic—wild game and the like.

"The second and third levels are, respectively, a man’s favorite place and a place where money flows like water.

"As for the fourth level, I can’t speak about that. It’s for VIPs only.

"And the fifth? That’s the boss’s territory. I don’t need to say more, do I?"

After hearing the bald man’s explanation, Liu Ergou couldn’t hide his astonishment. My god! I never would have guessed there was a five-story building hidden beneath this abandoned factory district. And each floor has a different function. This is something I never knew. After a moment of thought, Liu Ergou said, "I’m quite interested in the ’man’s favorite place’ and the ’place where money flows like water.’ Brother, can you take me to see them?"

The bald man nodded with a smile and led Liu Ergou into the abandoned room. He walked to a corner and tapped rhythmically twice. The next second, that section of the floor sank down, revealing a brightly lit tunnel. However, aside from the bright lights, the tunnel itself was empty.

The bald man stepped into the tunnel first, speaking as he walked. "Brother, you’re in luck. I’m just about to change shifts. If you’d come any earlier, I really wouldn’t have been able to take you down myself.

"Just stick with me, and I guarantee you won’t want to leave. You’ll visit once and be dying to come back a second time!

"If I’m wrong, everything you spend today is on me!"

Seeing the bald man so confident, Liu Ergou didn’t know what to say, so he just laughed and followed him into the tunnel.

After walking through the tunnel for a few minutes, the two arrived at an elevator. The bald man stepped inside, swiped a keycard, and pressed the button for the third basement level. The elevator immediately began its descent. Soon, it arrived at its destination and the doors slid open.

The bald man walked ahead, leading the way. The next second, a brilliant light assaulted Liu Ergou’s vision, so blindingly bright that he reflexively squeezed his eyes shut. At that exact moment, a cacophony of noise flooded his ears.
