Divorce Revenge System: Knowing the Future in Advance-Chapter 895 - 659: Visiting the Sick (2)
She walked to the back door of the classroom and saw Jiang Nian playing on his phone, the only one left in that row.
"Where's your deskmate?"
Jiang Nian looked up, he had just finished sending a message to Zhizhi.
"Called in sick."
"Okay." Qingbao walked up to him, confiscated his phone, turned off the screen, and put it in her pocket.
Jiang Nian propped his head on his hand, quite used to it. After all, he had already sent the message, he'd check it after class.
Ma Guojun watched the whole thing, utterly shocked.
"You're something else."
After class, Huang Fang came over. Her expression showed slight concern as she asked about Zhang Ningzhi's condition.
He got up, preparing to leave his seat.
"No idea, I need to find Qingbao to get my phone first."
Huang Fang sighed, "Alright then."
In the hallway, Jiang Nian was about to head downstairs to find Qingbao. Halfway there, he was stopped by Yao Beibei.
"Where are you going?"
Jiang Nian explained, and Yao Beibei responded with an understanding "Oh." After pausing for a moment, she continued.
"She won't be coming today, said she took some medicine and is resting at home. I'm going to see her this afternoon, you in?"
"Nanjiang Bay?"
"Yes."
Now it was Jiang Nian's turn to ponder.
He wanted to go, and with Yao Beibei. Even if Mr. Zhang wasn't happy, he wouldn't show it openly.
After all, he's afraid of his daughter.
"Going during dinner time, would that be inappropriate?" Jiang Nian hesitated, "I guess I'll go on an empty stomach then."
Yao Beibei: "???
Is that right?
The old father is worried you're interested in his daughter, but you're more concerned about his dinner table.
She took out her phone, "I'll let Zhizhi know in advance, we're skipping the afternoon self-study session?"
If we wait till after self-study, it'll be dinner time.
"Sure."
Jiang Nian was about to leave, but Yao Beibei pulled him back, "You should bring some test papers too, have a reason."
"Okay."
The last two periods in the afternoon were the hardest math lessons of the week, leaving the class knocked out on their desks.
During the self-study session, the sky outside was overcast. Though it wasn't raining, visibility was still low.
The classroom lights remained on, everyone was quietly studying.
......
The two exited the school gate.
Jiang Nian stopped, turning to look at Yao Beibei.
"Where's your bike?"
Asked, Yao Beibei suddenly became alert.
"How did you know....."
"I just know," Jiang Nian shrugged, hiding the fact he saw her electric bike last time, "I saw it then."
"Saw what?"
He said, "I saw you crash into a tree; looked as panicked as an old sow, haha."
Yao Beibei's face turned cold immediately, a murderous intent forming within her ample chest.
"Alright, let's go." Jiang Nian sensed the chill down his spine, coughed awkwardly diverting the topic.
The two got their bike, ready to set off.
Yao Beibei insisted on riding, to avoid suspicion. She took the reins of the little electric, ferrying Jiang Nian along.
Jiang Nian didn't mind, raising both hands in agreement.
"Okay, Captain."
Yao Beibei wobbled onto the road, gaining confidence as she rode.
"See, very stable."
"Ugh!" Jiang Nian complained, "Feels like I'm on a slave ship. Is the triangular trade not over yet?"
"It's not that bad!" Yao Beibei retorted, "Just wait, I haven't shown my true skills yet!"
A while later, they passed a construction site.
At the turn, a car suddenly rushed out. Terrified, Yao Beibei swerved, shouting as she headed straight for a flower bed.
The unfinished flower bed was filled with rocks.
"Oh crap!!!" Jiang Nian couldn't even shout, gripped by the impending doom as a passenger.
The momentum of the fall left him no time to grab the handle.
He braced his feet on the ground and, in the split second he jumped off, managed to lift the unlucky Yao Beibei upright.
With a clatter, the electric bike crashed into the flower bed, shattering two lights, though the main body remained intact.
"Damn!"
Jiang Nian was genuinely impressed; fortunately, he bailed early. Or he'd have been bruised and battered.
"You... Sun Ce is ulting!"
Yao Beibei was a bit embarrassed too, the jester's performance was live. The vehicle was tossed, but her being was intact.
"Let me down first."
In the heat of the moment, she felt a powerful force sweep her off, away from the doomed ride.
At first, he held onto her stomach, his grip weakened as he cursed, and now it was slipping.
Without releasing his hold, she might slip to her chest.
"Oh, okay."
Jiang Nian released her, eyeing the damaged bike, then looking at Yao Beibei, bursting into laughter.
"Yao Beibei, you... "
"It was just an accident. I was just singing SpongeBob earlier," Yao Beibei felt awkward, not daring to talk further.
Ferrying people was indeed tricky.
"Forget it, you ride."
"Should have done so from the start," Jiang Nian said, raising the bike, "Get on."
"Oh."
It turned out, Jiang Nian on the wheels was steadier; an experienced driver indeed, skillfully balancing speed and steadiness.
They arrived safely at Nanjiang Bay.
On the way, Yao Beibei had messaged Zhang Ningzhi in advance, naturally, omitting the near-accident.
As a pretty girl, she has her pride to uphold?
Nanjiang Bay was the best neighborhood in the area, with strict access controls. Even food delivery couldn't go upstairs.
There was a booth where dedicated staff brought orders up.
In a big city, this won't be unusual, but in this small county, it was exclusive.
As for the riverside villas, you had to collect yourself.
After waiting a bit at the entrance, the security let them through. They passed another door before entering the building.
Since the elevator required a card, Zhang Ningzhi came downstairs despite her illness.
.....
With a ding,
Zhang Ningzhi walked out of the elevator, supporting herself on Yao Beibei, leading the way occasionally glancing back.
"You came too?"
When she spoke, a certain weakness was apparent, but her evident cheer brought life to her face.
Jiang Nian wanted to say had he not come, her dear bestie probably would have been hyperventilating.
Crashing a bike like that, what rare talent.
But as he opened his mouth, he restrained himself. Yao Beibei had warned him before leaving, a shared secret they should keep.
Damn, keeping face to such an extent. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Yeah, I came to check on you." Jiang Nian had test papers in hand, but not a word was mentioned about them.
Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi's eyes curved into crescents with her smile.
She beckoned him over, signaling for him to come closer.
"What is it?"
Jiang Nian leaned in, Zhang Ningzhi pulling him down slightly, since she was a head shorter, she whispering in his ear softly.
"I'm so happy."
The pure delight in her words spread out like sweet honey.
Zhang Ningzhi was dressed differently from usual, probably due to the cold, in a knitted sweater.
She wore loose skirts below, white socks, and bunny slippers.
Her long hair fell over her chest, covering over that fullness; her skirt reached her ankles, a very homely style.
"Yeah." Jiang Nian nodded, posing a critical question, "Your parents home?"
Upon hearing this, both Zhang Ningzhi and Yao Beibei turned to him.
The three stood silently in the corridor, it was indeed a question unprepared for.
Zhang Ningzhi had taken medicine in the afternoon, only felt better by evening when Yao Beibei was racing bikes.
Now, the three stood at the door, staring at each other.
Jiang Nian also noticed something amiss, looking to Zhang Ningzhi, "You're not seriously saying... your parents don't know I'm here, are you?"
Yao Beibei turned, trying to shrug it off.
"I forgot to mention."
"It'll be fine." Zhang Ningzhi reassured confidently, "My parents are open-minded, don't worry."
"Yeah, just explain to them." Yao Beibei chimed in.
Jiang Nian glanced at the fruits in his hands.
"Uh... maybe."
At least he didn't bring oranges, which would roll everywhere.
