Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Handling It

With that, Tristan Grayson pushed the door open and came in, then shut it behind him.

Watching Tristan do this, Mika Summers was instantly overwhelmed. ’What does this mean? He’s not leaving?’

Tristan Grayson paid no mind to Mika’s surprised expression. He walked straight to the sofa, took off his jacket, and lay down, closing his eyes to rest.

Mika watched, her heart pounding with anxiety. Finally, she couldn’t help but ask, "You’re not planning to leave?"

"Why should I leave?" Tristan retorted with a cold smile.

"But... don’t you have something to do at the office?"

"That was a lie for our parents." Tristan didn’t look back at her, turning his body away instead.

’A lie for our parents?? So Tristan doesn’t actually have anything to do at the office at all?’

She had never lived in the same house with Tristan before. Now, she was at a complete loss for what to do.

She stood frozen, watching Tristan for a long time before finally sighing and returning to her room. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Only after hearing the door close did Tristan lie flat on his back on the sofa and open his eyes.

A complex look filled his eyes as he pulled his phone from his pocket and called Aiden Avery.

"Hello, Tristan..."

Tristan sat up on the sofa and glanced at the closed bedroom door before saying calmly, "There’s something I need to tell you."

"What is it? Go on..."

Tristan fell silent for a moment. He felt he was in the wrong, but the thought of that girl daring to bad-mouth him made him resolve to make a point.

So, when he spoke, there was no hint of guilt in his voice, only a commanding tone. "I’ve agreed to let your sister intern at the company at the end of November."

"What?" Aiden was clearly stunned by the news.

But as the word left his mouth, he glanced at the lit-up operating room at the end of the hall and quickly lowered his voice. "Tristan, are you possessed by Cassian Jennings or something? My Amelia is still a ninth-grader."

’This is a critical time for her studies, right before the high school entrance exams. How could Tristan let Amelia get mixed up in this nonsense?’

"Didn’t you start interning at the company when you were in ninth grade, too?"

"How is that the same? I’m a man. I was supposed to start working early to take over the family business. But my Amelia has absolutely no reason to go through that." His sister was meant to enjoy life.

Thinking about how Amelia Avery had gotten into a fight today, Tristan Grayson teased, "You guys protect Amelia too much. That’s why she’s so impulsive and never thinks about the consequences."

"She’s my sister. As long as I’m around, what consequences does she need to worry about?"

Hearing Aiden’s arrogant tone, Tristan laughed. "True, she really doesn’t. However, she hit the Miller family’s precious daughter today. If they decide to make an issue of it, I’m afraid even you, the brother who specializes in cleaning up her messes, will have a hard time."

Aiden fell silent on the other end of the line. After a long moment, he frowned and asked in a cold voice, "The Miller family’s daughter? You mean Gia Miller, the one who’s always hanging around Cassian Jennings?"

"The very one." Though a smile still played on Tristan’s lips, his eyes were glacial.

"Alright, I get it."

At that, Tristan’s smile vanished. He rose from the sofa and walked to the window. After thinking for a moment, he asked in a low voice, "Maggie... How is she doing now?"

"She’s fine. You don’t need to worry about her," Aiden said, glancing toward the operating room with a faint smile.

Tristan’s eyes were devoid of emotion. "Mm," he responded in a low voice. "Put Maggie on."
