Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Following

"You heartless brat. Your big brother just got off the plane, I’m flat broke and starving, and I have no idea where I’m sleeping tonight. So what are you going to do about it...?"

"Bro, just find any hotel to stay at. If you don’t have money, I can transfer you some."

But as soon as the words left her mouth, her brother’s voice shot back through the phone, "You brat! We haven’t seen each other in years, and now you’re bold enough to abandon your own flesh-and-blood brother! Get to the airport and pick me up right now. End of discussion."

"Bro—" Before she could say anything more, the line went dead. BEEP... BEEP... BEEP...

She stared at her phone, her brow deeply furrowed.

’It’s so late. Tristan probably won’t be coming over anymore.’

’So if I go pick up my brother, he probably won’t find out...’ With that thought, she shot up, hurried into her room to change, and left with her purse in hand.

Because of the darkness, she didn’t get a clear look—or even bother to notice—who was in the car driving toward her from the opposite direction as she left the complex.

Tristan Grayson, on the other hand, recognized the woman with just a casual glance.

The woman was dressed so strikingly at that moment, it was impossible not to notice her, even if he wanted to.

Out so late at night, wearing a deep red wool coat with her black hair cascading down to her waist, she exuded a potent, mature femininity.

Usually, he only ever saw her with her hair in a ponytail, dressed in sportswear, putting on an act of being pure and cute.

’But now, dressed like this so late at night... she must be showing her true colors.’

A wicked smirk played on his lips as he sharply turned the wheel and followed her.

He remembered warning her before he left today not to take a single step out of the house. But now, it seemed she had forgotten.

’Not only has she forgotten, but she’s dressed like this to go meet her lover.’

His parents had always considered her the gold standard for a daughter-in-law, the perfect young matriarch of the Grayson family.

’If they saw her cheating, tangled up with another man, I wonder if they’d wholeheartedly support his decision to divorce her.’

At this moment, Mika Summers had no idea she was being followed.

After leaving the complex, she stood by the main road to hail a taxi.

Once in the taxi, she headed for the airport.

The longer Tristan Grayson followed, the more he felt something was off. This road was clearly heading toward the airport.

At this thought, his entire face darkened. ’Don’t tell me she’s trying to run away?’

His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed on the taxi ahead.

He was terrified that if he lost focus for even a second, he would lose her. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

’A guilty conscience? Trying to run away? It’s not that easy. He’d told her before: if she ever crossed him, he would be more than happy to see headlines featuring photos from his girlfriend’s fatal car crash.’

Some forty minutes later, Mika Summers finally arrived at the airport.

After getting out of the taxi, she ran toward the airport lounge.

Tristan Grayson had already called Henry Archer on the way over. Any woman by the name of Mika Summers was to be barred from boarding any flight tonight.

So, all he had to do now was wait here and watch the show.

In the lounge, when Mika Summers rushed in, she saw her dear brother, Archie Summers, with an arm around a woman on each side as he flirted with three beauties.

Her brow darkened in annoyance. She coughed deliberately a few times before approaching the group. Reaching out, she tapped her brother on the shoulder and said, "Um, sorry to interrupt!"

"You’d better have a good reason for this!" Hearing her voice, Archie Summers let go of the women, turned, and snapped with displeasure.
