Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 22: Alive
He dragged Mika Summers out of the villa and to the car.
With a dark look on his face, he sneered, "Are you satisfied now?" ’He had brought her here just to watch her put on a show.’
’He couldn’t believe he’d actually trusted this woman.’
"Tristan, I know you must be devastated right now. I’m miserable too. I’m sorry, this is all my fault..." she explained, her voice hoarse and her eyes red.
But Tristan wouldn’t let her finish. Furious, he yanked open the car door. "Get in."
"..." Biting back her grievances, she got into the car.
He dropped her off at Regalia Fields and left.
Before leaving, he warned her that she was absolutely forbidden to leave until Maggie Monroe was found.
Because, in Tristan Grayson’s eyes, she was his last hope.
If Maggie Monroe wasn’t found within three days, he would trade her life for Maggie’s.
And he was convinced that his parents would never harm her for Maggie Monroe’s sake.
When she heard Tristan Grayson say this, her heart bled.
’The man I love, willing to trade my life to get another woman back. How utterly ridiculous.’
’And yet, somehow, I still felt sorry for him. I thought his love was so grand and noble.’
’Willing to be the hostage in an exchange, all for him.’
"Hey, Tristan, I found her!"
Tristan Grayson jerked the wheel, pulling the car over to the side of the road. "Where? Which hospital is Maggie Monroe in? I’m heading over right now."
"Tristan, calm down. I originally thought your father might send Maggie to that hospital in Calthoria, but I never expected him to send her to Eldoria. This is actually good, though. I have a few friends here who are medical specialists in brain cancer. Maggie might have a real chance this time."
"Didn’t you say the success rate was only three percent?"
Aiden Avery sighed. "This time, we can get the success rate up to ten percent."
"How long would she have?" Tristan Grayson’s eyes darkened, his tone cold and devoid of emotion.
"It’s hard to say. As long as her condition doesn’t worsen, maybe a year, two, or even three are possible."
"Without the surgery, how long would she have?"
"She might not even make it a month. The cancer cells have already spread aggressively."
’Not even a month?’ His brows furrowed tightly, and he said in a low voice, "Fine. Do it."
"Okay. I’m at the airport now, about to fly to Eldoria. You don’t have to worry about things on Maggie’s end." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Thank you, Aiden."
"Don’t mention it. We’re brothers, this is what we do for each other. Tristan, you should just stay by your grandmother’s side and be with her through these last few days."
"Yeah." Tristan Grayson murmured before hanging up.
He leaned back against his seat, his mind flashing back to the first time he met Maggie Monroe.
She had been wearing a long, pink slip dress. When she smiled gently, she seemed to appear before him like an immaculate, ethereal fairy.
He fell in love with her at first sight.
But she often skipped class, and he missed her to the point of madness. He had people ask around about her and would wait for her in places she might show up.
But she seemed to be deliberately avoiding him.
The more she did, the stronger his desire to conquer her grew.
It wasn’t until their high school graduation that she finally admitted she liked him too.
Somehow, news that they were together reached his parents. They investigated Maggie Monroe’s family background and did everything in their power to oppose the relationship.
