Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 166: Understanding
"Don’t give me that. You know I’ve always favored Aiden Avery."
Ian Shaw immediately whined, "Fuck, Tristan Grayson! You heartless bastard! I’d go through hell and high water for you! How can you treat me like this?"
"You’ve always known what kind of person I am," Tristan Grayson said coldly, raising an eyebrow.
Ian Shaw roared in frustration and hung up. "Go to hell—" ’He should have known it was useless to complain to Tristan Grayson.’
Tristan Grayson smiled, pocketed his phone, and stood up, heading toward the hospital room.
But as he looked up, he stopped in his tracks. Maggie Monroe was standing in the doorway, staring at him with wide, watery eyes, looking utterly vulnerable. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The smile on Tristan Grayson’s face vanished instantly. His eyes grew cold as he snapped, "When did you get out of bed?" ’Lately, Maggie Monroe had really started to annoy him. She was never like this before.’
Tears streamed down Maggie Monroe’s face as she emerged, steadying herself on the doorframe. "Tristan, are you planning to leave me behind and go back home by yourself?"
"Why would you say that?" ’She knows I wouldn’t leave her, so why is she asking? Does she not trust me?’
"I heard you. You said you’re going back home tomorrow."
Tristan Grayson stepped forward with a frustrated sigh and swept her into his arms. "I’ll take you with me."
"Really?" She was still uncertain. ’She was so afraid that Tristan wouldn’t want her anymore.’
"Yes, really. I told you I wouldn’t leave you here alone."
Maggie Monroe wrapped her arms around Tristan’s neck. Her voice, thick with emotion, was barely a whisper. "Tristan, didn’t you say we’d get married after your divorce? Are we... are we getting married when we go back?"
"—" ’Marriage?’
Tristan Grayson froze.
"Tristan, you will marry me, won’t you?" Maggie Monroe was starting to panic. ’Every single time before, Tristan would answer her right away, but now... he was silent.’
’It had only been a few short days, but Tristan had already changed.’
"Let’s talk about this after we get back home." ’Suddenly, Tristan dreaded this topic.’
He placed Maggie Monroe on the bed and pulled the covers up to her chin. His eyes were dark as he said in a hard voice, "Don’t overthink it. You need to rest. We have a flight tomorrow."
Maggie Monroe stared at this man who was at once familiar and a total stranger, her heart clenching in pain. Blinking back tears, she anxiously grabbed his arm. "Tristan, can you hold me while I sleep? Just... just hold me..." ’She was terrified that he would call *that woman* the moment she fell asleep. More than anything, she couldn’t bear waking up to a strange nurse or aide by her bedside instead of him.’
Tristan Grayson shook her hand off. "Maggie, just get some rest." With that, he turned and walked out of the hospital room.
When Maggie Monroe heard the door click shut, she couldn’t hold back any longer and began to sob out loud.
’She used to think Tristan Grayson didn’t touch her, didn’t sleep with her, because he was worried about her health. But now she understood the truth. He genuinely didn’t want to touch her. He wouldn’t even hold her while she slept...’
’Why? Why was she denied when *that woman* could have Tristan? It wasn’t fair! It wasn’t fair!’
’She and Tristan had met first! They were the ones who were truly in love! They were the ones who should have been a real husband and wife! All of it should have been hers! But now... now *that woman* had stolen everything, even Tristan himself...’
