Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 153: In-laws
An hour and a half later, their driver, Jensen, dropped them off at the mall. Once inside, her mother-in-law pulled her straight into a baby store.
Seeing the adorable baby clothes and toys in the store, Mika Summers’s mood quickly lifted.
Her mother-in-law held up a pink princess dress for her to see. "Mika, what do you think of this little dress?"
"Yeah, it’s cute."
"I think so too..." Mae Lynch beamed, imagining her precious granddaughter wearing the princess dress.
Mae Lynch had the staff grab every piece of clothing she laid her eyes on, for both boys and girls.
Mika looked at the two shopping carts packed with clothes trailing behind her mother-in-law. She couldn’t help but laugh as she reminded her, "Mom, don’t you think that’s enough?"
"How could this be enough? A child of the Grayson Family deserves the best." Mae Lynch felt this small pile of clothes barely scratched her shopping itch. She remembered how, back in her youth, she would practically buy out an entire street every time she went out.
"Alright..." ’Oh well,’ Mika thought. ’I’ll just let her do as she pleases.’
Just then, Eleanor Bishop, arm-in-arm with Una Sullivan, emerged from a side aisle. Eleanor frowned, pointing at Mika in surprise. "Mom, look, isn’t that Mika?"
At the sound of her voice, Una Sullivan looked up in the direction Eleanor was pointing and immediately saw her daughter talking to a woman who looked about her own age.
"Mika!" Eleanor didn’t find Mika’s presence strange at all and called out to her with a smile.
Mika heard someone call her name. She looked up from the clothes in her mother-in-law’s hands and turned to see her mother and her future sister-in-law...
The smile on her face instantly froze.
"Mika, what a coincidence! Are you shopping here too?" Eleanor asked, pulling a dazed Una Sullivan toward Mika.
Mika deliberately took a step forward, shielding her mother-in-law from view. She forced a smile. "Mom... Eleanor..."
Una Sullivan asked with a confused nod, "Mika, what are you doing here?" ’She couldn’t imagine her daughter shopping in a place like this.’
"Mika, who are they?" Mae Lynch asked in a low voice, putting the clothes in her hand into the shopping cart and tugging on Mika’s arm.
’She heard Mika call them ’Mom’ and ’Sister-in-law,’ and she immediately grew nervous. To meet the in-laws without any preparation...’
Mika wished the ground would swallow her whole.
’My mother doesn’t know I’m married, and my mother-in-law is right here,’ she thought desperately. ’I can’t just lie and say I’m here with a friend. My mother-in-law would be so upset.’
’Do I really have to tell the truth?’
"Mika, who is she? And what are you doing here?" Una Sullivan glanced at the shopping carts behind them, her expression souring.
Mika steeled herself and took the plunge. She couldn’t avoid this forever. Turning sideways, she looped her arm through Mae Lynch’s and introduced them nervously, "Mom, this is my mom and my sister-in-law."
Mae Lynch gave a knowing smile and patted Mika’s hand. Then, with an incredibly warm smile, she said, "Yes, we’re in-laws! This is our first time meeting. I didn’t expect you to be so young and beautiful."
"In-laws?" Una Sullivan’s mind was a mess. She hadn’t even recovered from how her daughter had addressed the other woman, and now she was hearing an even more frightening term.
"Of course we’re in-laws! You must not know about our two children yet, right? But we were just looking for an opportunity to pay a formal visit and propose marriage." When Tristan and Mika got married, there was no ceremony, so Mae had recently been discussing holding a proper wedding for them with Caleb Grayson.
