Divine Harem: My Sect of Heavenly Beauties-Chapter 259: The Choice Is Yours
After making the separate space, Shen Yu spread his Divine Sense throughout the Empire while commanding Nancy.
"Link all the slaves who are still there working for others, or people in similar conditions. Then, make a token and give it to them while sending them the message. Remember to make it very mystical so they trust it."
[Roger that!]
Shen Yu smiled and thought.
"Then, let's begin. I want to see how many people choose their freedom when given a choice."
...
Wuji Palace, Rising Dragon City, Eastern Region of Qing Empire.
A tragic scene was being played in the courtyard of the Wuji Palace. It was the estate of the noble ruling over all of Rising Dragon County and it was ruled by the Feng Clan.
In the courtyard, many people wearing light, broken armour stood on the sides, as they looked at the scene playing before them while flinching a few times.
"Aghh!"
"Don't you dare scream! That's my orders!"
Feng Cai, the youngest miss of the Feng Clan, ordered as she whipped a young man lying on the floor, bloodied from head to toe. His body was skinny, with bones almost coming out of his flesh.
But it wasn't surprising considering the life he was living. Aside from his poor appearance, he wore a simple tunic that was torn in many places because of the whip.
Additionally, he had a collar around his neck that glowed slightly when Feng Cai ordered him. Tears brimmed in his eyes, as another whip lashed at his ankle.
He wanted to scream but his body didn't respond to his wishes. After all, his body wasn't his to begin with. It was Feng Clan's, and it didn't matter what he wished.
"Immortals... Gods... whoever is there... give me one chance... just one chance and I'll ravage this whole clan to the ground."
Rage boiled within him, but he knew it was futile. He was a slave, and a slave had no right to freedom. He would follow what his master said, not what he wished.
"Alright, if you can survive one more, I'll let you off the hook for today."
Feng Cai said, smiling as she got ready for the last strike.
"You should be grateful because your pathetic existence is helping me master my Flower Wind Technique. Haha!"
One more whip lashed at his back, tearing off his flesh from his body. He rolled on the ground, wanting to scream but unable to do so.
Only tears dropped on the ground, mixing with his blood as they reminded him of his reality and what his future held.
"No!!! I will escape from here. And once I do, I will kill everyone! This world... it doesn't deserve people like me! I'll kill them all!!"
Nobody knew if the young slave had red eyes because of blood or anger, but at least they knew he wouldn't survive long. The injuries were severe and slaves were far beneath being actually given proper treatment.
Just then, a middle-aged man with a bald head and long gray hair walked into the courtyard. His gaze fell on the young slave as he sighed.
"Young Miss, I warned you to be careful. We can't get any more slaves anytime soon, so please don't kill what we have currently."
Feng Cai puffed her cheeks and said,
"I don't care. I bought these worthless slaves for my training and they aren't even that useful. They whimper and cry a lot. What am I supposed to do?"
Her eyes burned with fury as she growled,
"I hate whoever destroyed the Slave Organisation. Because of them, my progress will be halted. If I ever find them, I'll kill them all."
The middle-aged man just sighed and gestured someone towards the young slave.
"Take him back and treat him. Don't let him die, as we would need him for at least a few more times."
The Apothecary nodded and, along with his assistants, took the young slave back to his shabby warehouse where all the slaves were kept.
Wiping his nose in disgust, the Apothecary quickly treated him just enough so that he wouldn't die. Then, he left the warehouse in a hurry as he couldn't stand the place for one more second.
The young slave, Qiao Long, woke up after a few hours, grimacing in pain as every part of his body hurt like hell. But he was used to it, so he stopped shifting around.
Movements caused more pain.
As he lay there, questioning his life, the ceiling of the warehouse suddenly warped into a golden portal. It was circular, with golden edges and golden particles streaming out of it.
"What? Am I hallucinating because of being beaten so much?" Qiao Long thought, but then another thought passed through his mind.
"Or maybe this is the portal leading to the afterlife. So, I'm finally dying, huh. I hope I at least get a good life next time."
Just then, a small piece of paper floated down from the portal and stopped just before him. Qiao Long wanted to touch it, but he couldn't move because of his wounds.
As if hearing his thoughts, the paper unfolded and showed its contents to him. Surprisingly, he could understand what was written on it even though he had never studied it.
Curious, Qiao Long began reading it and the more he read, the more his eyes shone.
[You're a slave, with no freedom whatsoever. You don't even have a single choice in your life, and everything is decided by your masters. Do you want to continue like this? Do you want to live this life?]
Qiao Long scoffed lightly, as he felt that whoever sent the letter was just mocking him. Still, he went on to read more of it.
[You were never given a choice, but now you have. Just touch the letter and ask it to carry you past the portal. By choosing this, you will be forsaking everything you have in this life. You will remember everything, but you would never be able to get it back. Do you still want to choose to abandon it all for a new life where you will have the freedom to do whatever you want and choose how you want to live.]

At the end of the paper, a few words were printed in bold letters.
[The choice is yours.]
