Divine Doctor and His CEO Wife-Chapter 140: Send it in!
"Then we’ll see if you have the skills!" Wei Ziqing sneered.
SWOOSH—
In the next second, Chen Xiao vanished from his spot!
Terrified, Wei Ziqing hurriedly tried to dodge, but it was too late.
SMACK!
Chen Xiao slapped her, throwing her hair into disarray. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, and she staggered.
SMACK! 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
A second slap made her head buzz, feeling as if her skull was about to crack. A dozen more powerful slaps followed, beating Wei Ziqing’s face to a pulp. Enraged, she hid several Silver Needles between her fingers and lunged, stabbing viciously at Chen Xiao’s head with a venomous glare.
Chen Xiao seized her wrist in one swift motion!
"Ah—"
Ignoring Wei Ziqing’s pained screams, Chen Xiao thrust the Silver Needles directly into her face. An excruciating pain shot through her as a dark aura began to appear and spread across her face. The agony from the poison made her facial muscles twitch uncontrollably.
Showing no mercy, Chen Xiao grabbed her like she was a little chick and observed her face closely. Finally, he confirmed that the symptoms of the poison on her face matched Xu Yanran’s.
It seems to be the same poison.
Not daring to delay, Wei Ziqing tremblingly took out a vial, intending to swallow the antidote. But Chen Xiao snatched it from her grasp.
"Give it back!" Wei Ziqing shrieked. She knew all too well how dreadful Plum Blossom Ruin was; any further delay wouldn’t just disfigure her, it could kill her.
"You might as well just wait to die," Chen Xiao said coldly, pocketing her vial before kicking her away.
Wei Ziqing was left stunned, looking as though she’d been bereaved, her only option to cast a pleading look at Qiao Yu.
"Kid, you’re going too far!" Although injured, Qiao Yu couldn’t stand by and watch his companion be bullied. He had to intervene, charging at Chen Xiao and aiming a whip kick at his head.
However, before his leg could connect, it was caught. Chen Xiao swung him hard against the ground with tremendous force, making Qiao Yu feel as if his entire body was tearing apart. He struggled on the ground, unable to even get to his feet.
Seeing this, the other enraged Hongmen disciples also charged forward, crying out aggressively.
"Scram!" Chen Xiao yelled, kicking them away one by one and sending them all flying.
Seeing that Chen Xiao had taught them all a lesson and his anger seemed to have cooled slightly, Li Buyi finally made a show of coming down from above. "What’s going on? Why are you people causing trouble here?"
Qiao Yu struggled to his feet. "Who are you?"
"I am the City Lord of Yuncheng City!" Li Buyi announced.
"So it is the City Lord, my apologies. We are from Hongmen. I am Qiao Yu, son of Helmsman Qiao Xiong of the Hongmen’s Jiangnan branch. This man just attacked us aggressively..."
Before he could finish, Li Chenqian strode forward and slapped him twice!
Qiao Yu was stunned.
Li Chenqian cursed loudly, "Cut the act! You were the one who attacked Mr. Chen first, and now you have the gall to play the victim! I suspect you aren’t Hongmen disciples at all, but impostors using the Hongmen name to swindle people and tarnish its reputation. It seems we’ll have to arrest you and hand you over to Hongmen for judgment!"
Qiao Yu’s eyelids twitched frantically. "No, I really am from Hongmen..."
Before he could finish, Li Buyi kicked him again. "You’ve got a lot of nerve, daring to impersonate Helmsman Qiao’s son! Helmsman Qiao is a man of great renown, a righteous and chivalrous hero. How could he have a son like you, a bully who preys on the weak? An impostor! You must be an impostor!"
Clutching his stomach, Qiao Yu was speechless with indignation. He felt that Li Buyi and his group were doing this deliberately, but he had no proof.
Qiao Yu jumped up in frustration. "You say we’re impostors? What proof do you want me to show?"
"No proof will suffice!" Li Buyi declared righteously. "Your actions are nothing like those of Hongmen members! And you are certainly not like Helmsman Qiao’s son!"
"You..." Qiao Yu trembled with anger. "You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?"
"This City Lord is merely upholding justice," Li Buyi stated coldly. "Now confess, you fraud! What is your real purpose for committing crimes while impersonating a Hongmen disciple?!"
"I am not an impostor!"
Li Buyi’s voice boomed, "If you’re not an impostor, who is? Would Helmsman Qiao’s son condone his subordinates harassing women? Would he let them poison people? Would he commit such despicable acts, throwing his weight around? You’re worse than a beast, and you call yourself Helmsman Qiao’s son?"
"You... you... you..." The verbal assault was overwhelming. Qiao Yu was so incensed that smoke was practically rising from his head, and he fainted from sheer rage.
Even Chen Xiao had to admire Li Buyi for being able to infuriate Qiao Yu to such an extent. He understood Li Buyi’s strategy perfectly. As long as he adamantly denies Qiao Yu’s identity and focuses on his crimes, even Hongmen will have no choice but to swallow this indignity. It’s not that I refuse to give Hongmen face, but that I simply can’t believe a Hongmen disciple would be such a beast!
At this point, Wei Ziqing’s face was completely covered by the dark aura, a terrifying sight to behold. Chen Xiao felt deeply uncomfortable under her glare. "If you dare look at me like that again, I won’t mind gouging out your eyes."
The woman’s undisguised malice made Chen Xiao extremely uneasy, sending a chill down his spine. She had no grudge against Xu Yanran, yet she had struck a lethal blow, revealing the true venom in her heart.
Li Buyi immediately ordered the special forces team lying in wait nearby to move in. They were to arrest everyone and prepare to notify Hongmen. Of course, he wouldn’t directly ask Hongmen to ransom them. Instead, he would report that he’d captured a group of frauds impersonating Hongmen disciples and bullying the populace, asking if Hongmen would like to come and handle them. This was the art of speaking.
These people knew this was Li Chenqian’s territory, backed by me, Li Buyi, yet they still caused trouble here! Are they trying to say I’m beneath their notice? Besides, they picked a fight with Chen Xiao and Xu Yanran. My sympathies are naturally with those two. Let them off easy? Impossible.
Not only that, he was also deliberately using this opportunity to give Hongmen a show of force. Hongmen might be powerful, but Yuncheng City was his domain, and here, his word was law!
After the dejected and dispirited Hongmen disciples were all led away, Li Buyi sneered, "Hongmen might have deep ties with officials in other places, but here on my turf, Li Buyi’s turf, I don’t play that game. Stirring up trouble the moment they arrive... do they think they own the place?"
Chen Xiao shook his head. "Indeed, they are far too arrogant."
Seeing these Hongmen disciples today had been a great disappointment! The founder of Hongmen was an illustrious hero in history! The behavior of these thugs is a complete disgrace to the Hongmen name!
Leng Baiyu added, "Hongmen is severely divided internally these days, with several factions. Some, like the group we just saw, use the Hongmen name to bully others, while some still adhere to their principles."
Li Buyi scoffed, "That fellow even claimed to be Helmsman Qiao’s son. He shouldn’t have mentioned it. Now, I’ll have his old man come down to the jail and fetch him personally. Let’s see just how thick-skinned this father-son duo is!"
Chen Xiao uncorked the antidote, sniffed it to ensure there was nothing wrong with it, and then tossed the vial to Xu Yanran.
"Thanks!" Xu Yanran took the antidote and swallowed it. The color slowly began to return to her face. She had initially thought Wei Ziqing was just a weak woman, so she had held back. She never expected Wei Ziqing to use such a vicious, underhanded tactic to try and kill her.
"If I ever see her again, I’ll teach her a lesson she’ll never forget!" Xu Yanran gritted her teeth. She had never suffered such a humiliating defeat.
"That woman is a ruthless master of poison," Chen Xiao said calmly. "You all need to be careful."
He had a growing feeling that this woman was extremely dangerous and would become a major threat to them.
As the group chatted, another luxurious convoy of cars pulled up outside.
