Divine Convenience Store-Chapter 348: Area 4
Chapter 348: Area 4
As they stepped into Area 4, the first few minutes were eerily quiet. The corrosive Highland Energy clawed at their spiritual reserves, constantly draining, which made their energy channels sting a bit.
Lin Mo felt a burning sensation spreading from his stomach but his Celestial Providence: Heaven’s Favor and Huoling’s Blessing worked in tandem, pushing back the corrosive influence.
They advanced cautiously as they followed the path pointed by the [All-seeing Compass] and the visible marker on the map where the Anchor Core was located.
The skirmishes in Area 4 became a mix of ambushes and encounters with the patrolling Decrint Tribe creatures.
Other than their common mobs, Elite Bonecrushers and Elite Shamans accompanied them in launching coordinated assaults.
Lin Mo and Xiaoping were constantly on the move, deflecting poison arrows from the Bone-Archers and shattering bone shields. The [Starlit Dragon Spear] truly shone here, its [Stellar Cascade] ability effortlessly neutralizing clusters of foes, leaving swirling motes of starlight qi in their wake.
"Shopkeeper Boss, these shamans are nasty!" Xiaoping grunted, deflecting a corrosive orb with his gauntlet. "My spiritual energy feels... sticky!"
"Keep moving, Xiaoping! Don’t let them pin you down!" Lin Mo yelled back, thrusting his spear to deflect an incoming barrage of more poison arrows from a group of Bone-Archers protected by Bonecrushers.
Not long after that, Jiang Jianxin and Liu Xiaoyu crushed them to the ground after dealing with the ’elites’.
After navigating several intensely contested chambers, they finally reached a colossal cavern. It’s triple the size of the previous three Area Boss chambers.
In the center, a massive, pulsating altar, carved from obsidian and bone, radiated the oppressive presence of the Anchor Core.
Guarding it was not just one Area Boss-level tribe member, but three of them.
Fortunately for them, the Anchor’s system provided their information right away. It’s like a pittance considering their level was at least a major stage off from their opponents.
[Area 4 Boss: Decrint Tribe Warchief (Legendary-Tier)]
[Threat Level: 40 (Peak Core Formation Stage]
[Abilities: Aura of Command, Corrosive Blast, Bonestorm, Dimensional Shift]
[Sub-Bosses: 2x Decrint Tribe Soulbinder (High-Tier)]
[Threat Level: 38 (Late Core Formation Stage)]
[Abilities: Soul Rend, Spiritual Drain, Corrupting Rituals]
The Warchief was a hulking brute, even larger than the Warleader. Its body was encased in obsidian-like bone armor that glimmered with dark green corrosive energy.
It wielded a colossal warhammer that crackled with lightning, rivaling Xiaoyu’s stormy lightning qi.
Beside it, two hunchbacked, ethereal figures, the Soulbinders, floated silently, their eyes glowing with malevolent intent as they chanted a spell which immediately took effect the moment they stepped inside, blocking their retreat path and locking them to an unavoidable fight.
"They’re so much stronger. Xiaoyu, can you still deal with them?" Jiang Jianxin’s voice was tight. She had reached her limit. She’d be unable to defeat a Peak Core Formation Stage with her current state. At the very least, she had to break through to the Core Formation Stage.
Unfortunately, she was unable to perform it in their current situation.
"The spiritual pressure coming from the Warchief may hinder my Sword Will from maintaining my sword formation. Shall I leave him to you?"
Liu Xiaoyu narrowed her eyes as she nodded. Her expression turned a little serious as she glanced at Lin Mo, "Boss, these guys are different. I can go toe to toe with that big guy, but it’ll be insufficient to defeat it. We have to show them the Divine Convenience Store’s full power! Summon a Level 5 Unit from your deck! It doesn’t matter how long. We can hold out!"
Upon hearing that, Lin Mo looked down at the floating cards at his side.
Their Celestial Fields were still on, and a few summoned units were already fighting alongside them. But to summon a Level 5 Unit? He has to pull it from his deck, and he must have at least one unit from Level 1 to 4 as a catalyst.
At the moment, his Celestial Field was maintaining the three summoned units. A Level 1 [Starfire Hatchling], a Level 3 [Ironscale Basilisk] and a Level 4 [Celestial Manticore].
And maintaining them on the field was draining his spiritual energy quicker than he could recover. Adding another unit, even if it’s a Level 2 Unit, would put him in a spiritual strain, even with the maintenance provided by popping more [Spirit Replenishing Candies].
"Alright. Let’s go with that plan." He replied with a slightly grim tone in his voice. After all, he didn’t have that much of a choice anymore.
Taking a glance at the cooldown of when a new card would be pulled from his deck, he picked a [Spell Card] and activated it.
[Summon Reinforcement]
Although it was nerfed to be incapable of randomly summoning a Level 5 Unit, a much-needed Level 2 [Ashen Falcon] appeared in his Celestial Field, which he attributed to his luck-enhancing Celestial Providence from Taihao.
The Warchief roared, its warhammer slamming against the ground, sending a wave of lightning and corrosive energy rippling outward.
The two Soulbinders had their eyes glow brighter as they intensified their chant. Spectral chains formed in the air, aimed directly at Lin Mo and Xiaoping.
"Don’t let those chains touch you!" Liu Xiaoyu yelled as she stomped the ground, halting the snaking crater and launching herself at the Warchief, her body seemingly turning to a human-sized bolt of pure lightning.
Her Heavenly Physique was truly shining here. It resisted the spiritual drain of the Soulbinders and could even elevate her to evenly match the strength of the Warchief despite being only an Early Foundation Establishment Stage.
Jiang Jianxin spun along with her swords, deflecting the Soulbinders’ chains while she closed in, aiming for their frail-looking bodies.
Xiaoping slapped another sticker seal on his body, which supplemented her speed and stamina as he joined the other summoned units from both Xiaoyu and Sword Fairy. His gauntlets smashed into the chanting shamans that accompanied the Soulbinders, and the summons dealt the finishing blows.
Lin Mo, now primarily focused on defense, ducked and weaved, the [Starlit Dragon Spear] deflecting corrosive blasts and poison arrows that threatened to engulf him. His [Spirit Embodiment Sticker Seal] and the [Harmonics Resonance] blessing allowed him to move with surprising agility, conserving his spiritual energy. He popped another [Spirit Replenishing Candy], forcing his spiritual reserves back up to maintain the summons protecting him.
The [Celestial Manticore] acted like his shield, tanking the Bonecrushers and skirmishers. The [Ironscale Basilisk] supported it with its unique ability to stagger them with its petrification ability. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s not enough to slow down the swarm of green-skinned creatures.
The [Starfire Hatchling] and the [Ashen Falcon] flew around him to block any projectiles or diving skirmishers.
"Alright, here’s the first card!" Lin Mo muttered as his eyes fixed on the floating cards on his side. He needed a Level 5 unit, and he needed it now.
The pressure from the Warchief and Soulbinders was immense, far exceeding anything they had faced.
He closed his eyes for a split second, feeling the clock ticking on the Celestial Duel Gear. He needed that specific card.
The first card drawn was a Spell Card, [Beast Ward]. Lin Mo cursed under his breath but as it was a good defensive spell, he used it instantly, enhancing his Celestial Beast summons as a floating totem appeared next to him.
