Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 2201 - 2202: Flaws in Communication
Although it was a bit strange, Feng Yuan had no intention of investigating further; he was somewhat afraid that he might encounter an unexpected incident if he went under the Mist River.
"Those people have done some good things after all."
Looking at the transformed lawn, Feng Yuan couldn’t help but sigh. Originally, this hillside was unattended, with wild grass growing rampant, but the camp location of those people not only turned the wild grass into a neatly maintained park-like lawn, but even the land itself had been leveled.
However, this isn’t surprising; it seems labor-intensive, but in reality, only one or two Spirit Beasts are needed to easily manage these things. The people of East-West Village wouldn’t do this, partly because it’s unnecessary, and partly because they don’t have the corresponding Spirit Beasts.
Due to the spectacle of the Mist River, every household in East-West Village has a Flying Spiritual Beast, which is relatively uncommon in the Tea Wood Town Area. This also means they don’t have the Spirit Beasts that can handle the lawn; as for the Spirit Beasts that can level the land, they do have them, or one could say such Spirit Beasts are indispensable anywhere.
However, for them, taking care of the surroundings while handling other tasks is acceptable, but to specifically beautify the wilderness outside the village by bringing in a Spirit Beast that is otherwise useless, they have no time for that.
The group of streamers is currently live-streaming, so Feng Yuan and the others didn’t approach. Watching from a distance, Feng Yuan was ready to turn away, when he suddenly noticed a fiery red figure and said in surprise,
"Could that be a Lava Baby?"
Despite being some distance from the group of streamers, Feng Yuan was almost certain that the fiery red figure was very likely a Lava Baby. However, this is somewhat strange; why would the Lava Babies appear here? 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Recalling the Lava Baby he saw on the way, Feng Yuan had a bad feeling and said,
"Hmm, if they are promoting this place, wouldn’t the Lava Babies be in danger?"
"Shouldn’t be, they know the Lava Babies are active in this area, and generally people can’t take them away,"
Agunas flipped her tail as she spoke. This isn’t arrogance on Agunas’ part, but because Lava Babies wouldn’t be easily taken by others. As Spirit Beasts born from special rules, Lava Babies not only lack combat power but also have high requirements for their living environment. While they might appear outside the Magma Channel occasionally, they cannot leave it for too long.
Other than the Tea Wood Town Area, it’s not easy to find such environments elsewhere. Even if one finds a volcanic crater, how many people can live there?
Moreover, the ability of Lava Babies is mostly to produce that special fertilizer ingredient. Displacing Lava Babies and searching for a suitable living environment for them just doesn’t seem worth it.
As for ordinary people secretly taking them home?
Not to mention that there are related warnings in the Tea Wood Town Area, Agunas doubts that without a contract, Lava Babies would follow others home.
If using a contract, she doubts anyone could establish a strong enough bond with the Lava Babies, or if they could, they wouldn’t take them away lightly.
Spirit Beasts can sense whether humans truly care for them.
Deceiving Lava Babies isn’t easy; those who truly care for them wouldn’t take them away unless they can provide a suitable living environment.
Feng Yuan possesses this capability, but he has no need for Lava Babies, especially since he already has many Spirit Beasts around him. Adding a Lava Baby would be too much for him.
Even Feng Yuan feels this way, even less so for ordinary people; Lava Babies aren’t worth them risking for that value.
"Hmm, maybe this place could offer tourism featuring Lava Babies and the Mist River spectacle."
Feng Yuan said thoughtfully as he gazed at the flowing Mist River, rubbing his chin. Qi Chen scratched his head and said with some confusion,
"They shouldn’t change the recommended tourist routes, right?"
"Certainly not, but adding optional attractions seems normal. With those people recommending it, even if Tea Wood Town hasn’t provided them with related tourist resources, we might see many tourists here in a couple of days."
After some thought, Feng Yuan said as he reached for his phone. As the server predicted, his phone had completely lost signal now, possibly another reason why Tea Wood Town didn’t include it in the tourist routes.
No way around it, although Feng Yuan has a phone that can communicate via the Data Domain, it’s not convenient enough.
Not everyone has a portable space like Feng Yuan where they can put things; the specialized communication devices for signal blind spots are much larger and heavier than sleek phones.
Ordinary people wouldn’t carry such cumbersome communication devices unless venturing into wilderness areas without signal, unlike Feng Yuan, who has a special space for this gear.
Additionally, communication devices are quite different from phones, using a special network that although can make calls, can only be contacted by those using the network.
This setup is for efficient management; after all, the communication network via the Data Domain is meant for emergency calls from dangerous areas, even though its data processing ability exceeds the original Alliance phone networks, but that’s within the Data Domain.
Outside, using this communication network via Data Domain needs special equipment connections.
Communication devices can directly connect to the Data Domain, while existing networks need conversion points.
These conversion nodes are man-made with limited processing power; they cause issues with data overload. So, the Alliance manages fees with two approaches: communication device to device charges same as regular phone charges, but device to existing networks incurs costly charges.
This minimizes misuse, although streaming uses something different.
Previously, without communication coverage in wilderness areas, most people didn’t know what they truly looked like. Documentaries were rare and often didn’t authentically depict them.
Thus, the Alliance set special nodes for streaming communication, not expensive, allowing streamers to showcase these areas accurately to the public.
This helps reduce outrageous rumors.
Most Beastmasters capable of entering wilderness are busy enhancing their Spirit Beasts, rarely having time for other activities.
Those unable to enter rely on wild rumors, spawning strange claims.
Saying the wild Spirit Beasts are vicious, trespassers would perish isn’t as bad. Worse are rumors claiming Spirit Beasts near cities can make residents sick to raise their power.
While such rumors don’t harm wild Spirit Beasts, they affect children’s views, prompting the Alliance and countries to tackle them.
Now with streaming deps showing real wilderness, rumors can calm.
But because of these reasons, tourists lack communication devices; while traveling here, they’re isolated from the outside.
This issue hampers tourism development greatly.
"So how did East-West Village communicate before this?"
Feng Yuan looked at the Mist River with curiosity; even now during its spectacle, cellphones aren’t usable, let alone before society became wired.
Given the Mist River’s width, even with Xiao Ji piloting the Nether Cross, it’d take minutes to reach the other side; many Flying Spiritual Beasts aren’t as fast.
"No idea, maybe we should ask about it?"
Qi Chen scratched his head, looking at the group of streamers.
