Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 2193 - 2194: The Tour
Looking at that big door, Feng Yuan felt a bit confused. According to his speculation, the Magma Babies should live behind that door. After all, just hearing the name one could guess that they must have some connection with the Magma Channel.
But if they’re behind the door, how do tourists interact with them?
Without much thought, Feng Yuan knew that the door absolutely would not open to tourists.
Shaking his head, Feng Yuan didn’t dwell on these matters further. Turning around, he looked at the guide sign standing beside him and said,
"Should we go eat something now or first check out the Fire Spirit Mushroom plantation room?"
Unlike the freely accessible Half-Mountain Stronghold, Grotto-Rock Village has many areas that are not welcoming to tourists, with signs at the entrance of those passages saying ’Tourists Stop Here’.
Feng Yuan didn’t mind this, as there are still quite a few people living in the whole Grotto-Rock Village, and having tourists wander about would indeed bring inconvenience to the residents.
Of course, it’s not that they completely prohibit climbing up to the wooden buildings several stories high; only certain areas are restricted from entry.
Unlike Half-Mountain Stronghold, although Grotto-Rock Village also has aerial walkways for convenience, due to the structure of the whole village, only a few rows at the back require these aerial connecting facilities because of height issues.
The buildings of the entire Grotto-Rock Village are divided into several rows by height, with no connection between different rows. To reach another row, you have to go from the ground level, of course this is just a regular situation. In fact, because the buildings are tightly packed against each other and the height difference is less than a floor, in case of emergencies, it is possible to climb over the wooden walls to move between rows.
Qi Chen thought for a moment and said,
"How about we go here first?"
Pointing at the stairs beside, Qi Chen was a bit curious about the structure of the last row of wooden buildings, as they resembled a grandstand—the outermost has only one floor, gradually lifting upwards by one floor’s height towards the back.
At the last row, the wooden building is already five or six stories high, and only the top floor actually has a view outside the cave; as for the lower floors, they might barely open windows at the back, but it is impossible on the front.
Even though there is a gap between the wooden buildings, it can barely allow Eggshell Chicken-shaped Xiao Ji to pass through, so naturally, opening windows is not possible.
As for going upstairs, stairs are set on the side, and the wooden buildings in the same row are not entirely connected; there is a passage left empty at intervals, and wooden corridors connect the left and right corridors allowing residents to quickly access other rooms in the same row.
The corridor of this last row of wooden buildings is facing the space behind the big door, so standing in the corridor should allow a view of what’s behind the door.
As for other wooden buildings sandwiched in the middle, their corridors are relatively dark because they are blocked by the back row of wooden buildings, and ventilation is only through the left and right directions of the corridor.
However, because there are suspended wooden corridors disrupting the connected rows of wooden buildings, the interior light is dim but not too dark.
Besides the straight main road Feng Yuan and the others walked in, each side of Grotto-Rock Village has six vertical paths running through the few rows of wooden buildings, and the ground floor of these buildings also has corridors left for passage.
The roads in Grotto-Rock Village seem very regular with horizontal and vertical alignments. Although moving between different rows is relatively troublesome, it’s still convenient.
Qi Chen was curious about what use those floors that cannot open windows are put to?
Although Grotto-Rock Village does not allow free touring like Half-Mountain Stronghold, they have left some rooms as exhibition halls to display the interior environment of Grotto-Rock Village’s dwellings.
These exhibition halls are arranged according to how the village residents would live, but no one actually lives in those places, so tourists visiting would not inconvenience the residents.
After considering for a bit, Feng Yuan turned around and said,
"Alright, let’s start the tour from here."
The first floor of the last row is not open to tourists because the corridors are on the back. Moreover, the side walls of the last row and the door extend out and connect to each other, so there are no corridors on the very bottom floor, and the entrance leads directly to the area behind the big door.
Thus, their tour could only start from the second floor.
Walking up the stairs, the corridor on the second floor is rather dim due to being blocked by the wooden wall of the door, yet there are iron plates hanging in the corridor on which luminous mushrooms seem to be planted. At least to Feng Yuan, this lighting method is quite special.
Unfortunately, the brightness of the luminous mushrooms itself isn’t high, so the mushrooms merely illuminate a small area nearby. Mainly, though the natural light in this position is weak, it still enables people to see everything in the corridor clearly, as the mushrooms only help to clarify the path.
"This floor should be the room where the Fire Spirit Mushrooms are planted?"
While speaking, he glanced at the introduction board beside and was surprised to find that he guessed wrong.
This second floor room isn’t used for planting Fire Spirit Mushrooms but rather as a storeroom for miscellaneous things.
Though open for visiting, rooms are piled with objects but not old, reused items, and while they’ve been artificially aged, there isn’t much odor.
Sweeping through the room, the few of them came out right away, which was normal anyway—there’s nothing much to see, only offering a glimpse into the locals’ daily living environment.
Heading upstairs again, this time the third-floor corridor isn’t squeezed between wooden walls. Although here, like Half-Mountain Stronghold, uses wooden railings to block the rear direction behind the big door, through the rails, the situation behind the door can still be seen.
Contrary to Feng Yuan’s thoughts, behind the door lies a pastoral scene, as crimson dots shimmer across the expansive vegetable field, surprising Qi Chen who flipped through the tourism guidebook uncertainly saying,
"There’s no introduction about this place in the guide, I don’t know what glowing fields behind are."
Even without an explanation, Qi Chen didn’t believe those things were anything genuine. Kidding aside, whose vegetables in the field shine like that, much less the area behind the door appearing a bit dark likely due to the block of buildings? Such places are not conducive to growing regular vegetables.
"Fire Spirit Mushrooms, there is where Fire Spirit Mushrooms primarily grow. That field receives a special Magma Ash sowing every week."
With a tail flick, Agunas explained, though these weren’t introduced, recorded in writing, it was not kept from its knowledge.
Feng Yuan paused, not expecting Fire Spirit Mushrooms to be planted there, and as for Magma Ash, it’s not a simple natural product. Though called Magma Ash, it’s a special product remaining after Fire-Attribute Spirit Beast extracts the energy from magma clean.
Despite being almost devoid of Fire Element Energy, it is still a high-quality fertilizer for fire attribute Spiritual Medicine and Materials.
Due to needing the involvement of Spirit Beasts in this conversion process, Magma Ash is relatively rare.
After all, Fire-Attribute Spirit Beasts don’t necessarily need to specifically absorb magma’s fire attribute energy; without their help, humans couldn’t obtain Magma Ash through machinery, only resulting in fire-element-free volcanic rock.
What brings about the change here is not understood by humans, but it doesn’t affect knowing how to gather this special fertilizer: Magma Ash.
Partly because Spirit Beast participation is required, Magma Ash production remains low. Even Spirit Beasts fond of digesting magma energy can’t keep eating that stuff nonstop.
Not to mention digestion issues, eating the same thing all the time tires Spirit Beasts.
Thinking about something, Feng Yuan surprisingly said,
"Could it be that Magma Babies can produce Magma Ash?"
This field isn’t small, at least looking from here, the twinkling stars continue to the cave’s far end beyond the sightline, which by normal logic would require quite a bit of Magma Ash.
Agunas flicked its tail and said,
"You guessed right; they indeed possess this ability. So, for Tea Tree Town, Magma Ash is not especially rare fertilizer."
"Tsk, really, didn’t expect Tea Tree Town area to have so many good things hidden."
Helplessly shaking his head, Feng Yuan thought of Kui Shan Town and Liantang Town, as towns under Maomu City, their gap with Tea Tree Town is indeed considerable.
However, this couldn’t be helped; if not for the particular need for discretion surrounding Yognot, Tea Tree Town might have been set up as a separate city long ago.
