Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 2190 - 2191: On the Road
After Feng Yuan lingered for a while in the cold wind at the top of the Half-Mountain Stronghold, he headed back down. It was simply too cold at the top. Even though the Tea Wood Town Area was under the influence of Yognot, the temperature was still relatively low. Furthermore, the top had no shelter, with the cold wind blowing fiercely, even the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound started emitting flames.
There was nothing to be done; even the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound, with its thick fur and flaming cloak, found it hard to bear the continuous cold wind.
On the other hand, Xiao Ji seemed completely unaffected, but that was not surprising. After all, Xiao Ji could naturally fly at high altitudes and had the ability to resist cold winds.
Upon returning inside the Half-Mountain Stronghold, Feng Yuan found the temperature considerably warmer compared to the top. The reason they hadn’t noticed before was entirely because the mountain path they travelled didn’t have the same chill as the top level.
"Interesting, this design doesn’t seem like Drudgeon’s style at all."
Veronia seemed to sense something and glanced at Agunas, who flicked his tail and said,
"Probably not it. This kind of design is more akin to humans. It probably hasn’t done anything... never mind."
Agunas, who initially intended to capture Drudgeon for reprimand, sighed and abandoned the idea after remembering something.
"Maybe it was a master architect from a certain period. After all, humanity’s talent outside of battles even amazes the Divine Beasts, doesn’t it?"
Feng Yuan chuckled as he spoke. While the Spirit Beasts possessed various magical powers, when it came to invention and creation, it was still the domain of humans. Of course, some Divine Beasts might be able to do something similar, but they mostly relied on their own authority, unlike humans.
Perhaps only Spirit Beasts like the Scholar Owl could rival humans in this aspect. Unfortunately, such unique Spirit Beasts were few, and Feng Yuan doubted they weren’t influenced by humans.
You should know, many evolution paths of Spirit Beasts are directly related to humans. It could even be said that without humans, those evolution paths wouldn’t exist.
"Dwelling on such matters seems pointless. Would knowing who designed this place change anything?"
Veronia lightly chuckled to stop Agunas and Feng Yuan from overthinking. With a laugh, Feng Yuan said,
"True, let’s drop it and check out the stores to see if there’s anything to buy. Although they’re mostly daily necessities, the drinks seem nice ~"
Due to the unique situation at the Half-Mountain Stronghold, not only were there no snack vendors selling sweets to tourists, but there weren’t even places to buy staple food.
There was no helping it. Before tourism was developed, the entire Half-Mountain Stronghold was inhabited solely by locals who were accustomed to handling meals at home, so there was no possibility for restaurants to exist.
As Feng Yuan suspected, although the few stores sold daily necessities, they didn’t lack drinks. After all, ordering online wasn’t necessarily cheaper than buying here.
Sitting on the bench in front of the store, Feng Yuan’s right hand rested on the railing behind him while his left hand held a drink bottle, his gaze occasionally scanning the surroundings. The Fluffy Fire Wolfhound hugged its own drink bottle, chewing on it, and Feng Yuan wasn’t sure whether it wanted to drink or just chew.
Veronia took out her phone, glanced at the information, and said,
"If we hurry, we can still make it in time for food at the next village."
"Hmm, is that so? What’s the next village?"
Gazing at the serene and harmonious Half-Mountain Stronghold, Feng Yuan casually asked, feeling Veronia’s words carried another meaning.
With a light chuckle, Veronia said,
"Grotto-Rock Village ~"
"It seems like I haven’t heard of it. But given the name, could it be another special village like the Half-Mountain Stronghold?"
Feng Yuan asked in surprise, pausing for a moment. With a light laugh, Veronia said,
"You’ve guessed correctly. I just checked the travel route, and it’s all unusual villages."
"That’s quite... By the way, if Grotto-Rock Village is newly developed, why is there food there?"
Curious, Feng Yuan asked, but Veronia didn’t explain. He considered taking out his phone to look up information, but after thinking, Feng Yuan let it go; they’d find out what was going on when they got there anyway.
Compared to Feng Yuan, Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan took their time while wandering around. Feng Yuan wasn’t particularly interested in most of the buildings, and the place didn’t have much else of interest. Perhaps the only feature was the unique architecture.
When the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound yawned, Qi Chen and the others ended their tour and met up with Feng Yuan. After a brief chat, they decided to head to the next destination.
Riding the White Shadow Wolf, Feng Yuan looked back at the massive ancient stronghold disappearing from sight. Initially, he thought the whole Tea Wood Town Area would be like the Red Tribe, but then discovered a place with such distinctive architecture.
Regarding the next destination, Feng Yuan almost guessed the situation. Just the name alone gave away the place’s characteristics, but he still wasn’t sure why Veronia mentioned that there’d be food upon arrival.
As they headed to the next region, the difference between Xing Bo and the White Shadow Wolf gradually became apparent. Compared to the slightly smaller White Shadow Wolf, the large Star White Lion Xing Bo surprisingly had less endurance than the White Shadow Wolf.
Even though it had rested in the Spirit Beast Space while they toured the Half-Mountain Stronghold, it still showed signs of fatigue.
Qi Chen was the first to notice Xing Bo’s condition and quickly called Feng Yuan and Dou Yanlan. The group crossed the railing of the Beast Path and jumped onto the slope, dismounting from the White Shadow Wolf. Feng Yuan glanced at Xing Bo and said,
"It seems long runs aren’t suitable for the Star White Lion, but it’s okay. We have two White Shadow Wolves here. Kong Qing, put it into your space."
Although Dou Yanlan could have returned Xing Bo to the Spirit Beast Space, Feng Yuan thought it would be better if it stayed in Kong Qing’s space with Big Cat and the others, which would aid in its recovery.
As for Kong Qing?
It had always followed at the back of the group. Although snakes aren’t typically suited for running, it depends on the attribute. Kong Qing, being a spatial attribute Spirit Beast, used the power of space to twist the path’s length, a laborious but effective tactic.
At Kong Qing’s speed, it could easily keep up with the full-speed White Shadow Wolf. As for the energy cost?
It might be challenging for other Homeward Snake, but for Kong Qing, it posed no problem. Like Xiao Ji, it belonged to the Divine Beasts, and despite not having Divine Beast Level strength yet, its recovery abilities were unmatched by ordinary Spirit Beasts.
The energy spent on travel was trivial for Kong Qing.
Without much hesitation, Dou Yanlan spoke a few words to Xing Bo, letting it enter Kong Qing’s space to rest. There was no choice. Even if Xing Bo was a rideable Spirit Beast, it had a considerable endurance gap compared to the White Shadow Wolf.
Riding Xing Bo alongside Feng Yuan wouldn’t necessarily be bad, but it wasn’t ideal for Xing Bo.
When Feng Yuan chose the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound, he considered its rideability; for him, there was no issue. Even if the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound’s endurance might be inferior to Xing Bo’s, Feng Yuan had ways to deal with it.
Dou Yanlan, on the other hand, didn’t have Feng Yuan’s abilities. If something unexpected happened to Xing Bo, it would be troublesome.
Occasionally engaging in long-distance sprints wouldn’t cause such problems, but with options available, Dou Yanlan didn’t consider such risky actions.
With Xing Bo stored in Kong Qing’s space, they resumed their journey. Cotton, though feeling tired running behind, refrained from whining about finding a place to rest.
Qi Chen chose to store Ah Mu in the Spirit Beast Space entirely to retain self-defense capability, considering the Hao Chun Bird’s power, though formidable, didn’t match Ah Mu’s.
Xing Bo was different; it was new to the team and less powerful compared to Cotton. Moreover, in its current tired state, it was better stored within Kong Qing’s space with Big Cat for care, which is why Dou Yanlan made that decision.
