Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Accident_1

"Please do not destroy what I’ve left behind, as it is the ultimate emergency measure prepared to prevent the harm that might be caused when a certain pitiful being awakens. I hope it can avoid causing greater destruction. Dahava leaves this message."

As Feng Yuan read out the information recorded on the stele from the photo on the mobile phone handed to him by Captain Chen, Captain Chen looked at Feng Yuan in surprise and said,

"You can actually understand these inscriptions!"

"Is it so strange? But... the pitiful being might refer to Yognot... No wonder it suddenly turned into winter overnight..."

Feeling the cool breeze around him, Feng Yuan seemed to understand something. After a moment of silence, Mr. Yan said,

"But..."

"It’s probably caused by the previous spatial-temporal turbulence. However, if those researchers accidentally activated it, it would definitely be interesting~"

"What are you talking about? What happened?"

Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Captain Chen looked at Mr. Yan with a confused expression. Mr. Yan shook his head and said,

"I shouldn’t talk about this here. I’ll tell you privately the next time I come to see you."

"Alright then, I’ll be going."

Watching the back of Captain Chen as he left, Feng Yuan said helplessly,

"I didn’t expect Dahava to be able to create something so powerful..."

After returning to the dormitory with Big Cat, Feng Yuan put away the Spiritual Medicine and Materials, then, taking out the cookware with a sneaky smile, he said,

"Today, we’re going to improve our meal~"

Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, the Dreaming Dragon Baby’s eyes shone brightly as it dove into Feng Yuan’s cupboard looking for something, while Xiao Ji, somewhat discontent, jumped up and caught the Dreaming Dragon Baby’s tail to drag it out. The Dreaming Dragon Baby howled in displeasure at Xiao Ji. Seeing the two little creatures start to quarrel again, Feng Yuan quickly separated them. Noticing the seasoning clutched tightly in the paws of the Dreaming Dragon Baby, Feng Yuan said with a chuckle,

"What’s the rush? You certainly haven’t forgotten your favorite seasoning."

Looking pitifully at Feng Yuan, the Dreaming Dragon Baby watched as Feng Yuan, smiling, placed the seasoning into the backpack in front of it, saying,

"Does this work for you?"

"Argh~"

"Enough, enough, I won’t forget anyone’s, so stop rummaging around. If you mess things up, I still have to tidy them."

Seeing the Dreaming Dragon Baby successfully get its way, Xiao Ji, not wanting to be outdone, burrowed into the cupboard. Feng Yuan helplessly picked up Xiao Ji and said softly. Noting Xiao Ji’s pitiful gaze imitating that of the Dreaming Dragon Baby, Feng Yuan chuckled and flicked Xiao Ji’s head,

"Alright, that’s enough fuss. If anyone else causes trouble, I won’t prepare their seasonings."

Warned by Feng Yuan, Xiao Ji discontentedly hopped onto the table and, with a flap of its wing, swatted the Dreaming Dragon Baby, which now floated in the air, looking triumphant. After packing up, Feng Yuan said to Big Cat, who was using the computer,

"Are you coming with us?"

Big Cat hesitated between looking at the computer and at Feng Yuan. Seeing Big Cat indecisive, Feng Yuan knew what it was torn over and said with a smile as he patted Big Cat’s head,

"Alright, I’ll pack your share and bring it back for you."

"Mew~"

"If you need anything, just come and find me. You can sense where I am anyway."

Dressed in the attire that had once been graced by the presence of the White Wolf Deity, Feng Yuan left the dormitory with the three Spirit Beasts. Feng Yuan whispered to Najia sitting on his shoulder,

"Hong Zhi said he’ll bring you specialties from Shenhua City when he returns. I wonder what they’ll be~ If they’re not good enough, I can take care of him for you~"

Najia shook its head with a smile. Feng Yuan said helplessly,

"You two are really something, clearly caring about each other yet refusing to stay together."

As Najia continued to smile at him, Feng Yuan sighed and said,

"Never mind, I know what you’re worried about. But is it really okay to keep this up? Right now, I’m still at school, so there aren’t any major issues, but what will you do when I go out on adventures later?"

The smile gradually faded from Najia’s face, and with a long sigh, Feng Yuan said helplessly,

"Anyway, there’s still plenty of time. I hope you two can figure it out before then..."

Noticing that Najia’s mood seemed somewhat downcast, Xiao Ji, hiding in the hood, called out to Feng Yuan with displeasure and bumped his back with its head. Feng Yuan reached out to pet Xiao Ji and asked,

"What’s wrong with you?"

"Ji!"

At Xiao Ji’s somewhat angry chirp, Feng Yuan said, puzzled,

"What’s gotten into you? Why are you suddenly angry?"

As he spoke, Feng Yuan turned his head to glance at the Dreaming Dragon Baby, only to find it coiled quietly on his shoulder with its eyes closed, resting. He scratched his head, puzzled. When they reached their destination, Feng Yuan flashed a mischievous smile and with a flick of his hand, luminescent white patterns flowed along his clothes, casting a translucent, softly glowing barrier in a half-dome around them. He clapped his hands with pride and said,

"Now we don’t have to worry about a teacher suddenly popping up."

"What bad things are you planning to do now?"

"Eh!"

Hearing the voice behind him, Feng Yuan turned stiffly to see Chen Xin scratching his head with a sunny smile,

"Hey, it’s you! I’m not doing anything—just looking for a quiet place to rest, that’s all."

"It’s cooking, isn’t it."

The girl next to Chen Xin scanned the tools Feng Yuan had placed on the ground and said calmly. Feng Yuan laughed sheepishly, scratching his head, while Xiao Ji glanced at the girl with surprise. Noting Xiao Ji’s worried gaze, Feng Yuan rubbed its head and said,

"Relax, she’s not here to settle scores with me."

"If I didn’t know about your mysterious past, maybe I would demand compensation."

"Uhh..."

"Never mind, let’s go. According to the school rules, cooking here isn’t a problem."

The girl turned away, her face hardening into a threatening expression, and said,

"Of course, unless we’re caught by a teacher."

"You wouldn’t be so cruel, right?"

Looking at Feng Yuan’s ingratiating gaze, the girl said calmly,

"Not for now."

"But what are you two hiding here for?"

Feng Yuan noticed the tear stains on Chen Xin’s face, prompting the girl to ask calmly,

"Are you really curious?"

Meeting the girl’s dangerous look, Feng Yuan shrank back and said,

"No, no."

"Hey! Wait up!"

Just as they were about to turn and leave, Feng Yuan noticed something off about Yue Bai at Chen Xin’s feet and rushed over to scoop up Yue Bai. Amidst the struggles, he examined it, prompting Chen Xin to shout displeasedly,

"Feng Yuan! What are you doing?"

Feng Yuan replied with an angry tone,

"Is this how you treat your Spirit Beast!"

"Give Yue Bai back to me!"

Chen Xin snatched Yue Bai back and held it closely. Seeing Yue Bai curled up in Chen Xin’s arms, Feng Yuan struggled to suppress his anger and said,

"Why did you force its evolution? Do you have any idea how much harm forced evolution does to a Spirit Beast!"

"I didn’t!"

"Forced evolution?"

Looking at the heated exchange, the girl asked Feng Yuan, puzzled, pointing to Yue Bai who shrank timidly in Chen Xin’s arms as he spoke angrily,

"You think I’d misread such obvious injuries caused by forced evolution? I thought you were just strong-willed, but I didn’t expect you to be so heartless toward your own Spirit Beast!"

"Hold on, maybe there’s a misunderstanding. Can you explain what you mean by ’forcing evolution’?"

Under the girl’s scrutiny, Feng Yuan took a deep breath and said,

"Ordinary Spirit Beast evolution requires increasing potential to meet the requirements, right? Forced evolution is when an evolution method is used to force a Spirit Beast to evolve before its potential fully meets the threshold, and it causes great harm to the Spirit Beast!"

"I didn’t do it!"

Chen Xin burst into unstoppable tears, and Yue Bai reached out its little paw to wipe her tears, softly whimpering as if to comfort her. The girl glanced at Chen Xin and Yue Bai and asked,

"What are the consequences of doing this?"

"The Spirit Beast’s very essence can be damaged. At best, its lifespan is greatly reduced; worse outcomes include a decreased potential, or it may become weak and sickly, not living much longer."

As Feng Yuan spoke, he sighed looking at Yue Bai. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Chen Xin cried even harder, hugging Yue Bai and repeatedly saying she was sorry. Yue Bai nuzzled her with its fluffy head, as if to say it was okay.
