Divine & Bizarre: Increasing Points to Invincibility-Chapter 870 - 237: The Fleeing Demons and Devils! The Sword that Split the Sea!
It was once a demon from Penglai Demon Island, but in that place, given its strength... one could only say it was neither outstanding nor inadequate. On Penglai Demon Island, it couldn’t enjoy any privileges, nor would any Demons and Devils be willing to follow it. That’s because all the Demons and Devils had already followed the Great Demon.
This demon, though not entirely common, was also not particularly special and thus became virtually invisible among Penglai Demon Island’s ranks. Perhaps a few Demons and Devils knew its name was the Abyssal Demon King, but its deeds were not widely known on Penglai Demon Island. As such, it found itself in an awkward position—without any Demons and Devils willing to follow it.
Yes... the Abyssal Demon King was the name of this godlike, gigantic octopus-looking demon, a pompous title certainly self-proclaimed. It felt that such a name was domineering, although its current strength did not yet live up to this aura of tyranny.
Feeling unable to mix well on Penglai Demon Island, the Abyssal Demon King turned its sights beyond the island. With no Demons and Devils willing to follow it, it set its sights on the half-human, half-demon hybrids. On Penglai Demon Island, the Half Demons, the hybrid offspring of humans and demons, had an even lower status than weaker demons.
The group of Half Demons on the island was also shunned by the Demons and Devils, to the extent that they were nothing more than snacks for the Demons and Devils! Under such circumstances, if a demon were to rally, wanting to lead a group of Half Demons out, certainly many Half Demons would echo their support.
Clearly, the Abyssal Demon King’s rallying cry did indeed summon a great number of Half Demons. Also, many Half Demons, who were oppressed to the point of preferring death, were willing to follow it out of Penglai Demon Island to brave the world beyond.
In such a single call to arms, the Abyssal Demon King directly brought out thousands of Half Demons! These Half Demons were all sea mutants, freakish progeny born of forcible mating between Sea Beasts and humans.
Yet, as time went by, the number of these thousands of Half Demons began to dwindle. Having ventured out to use humans as food, they naturally came into conflict with human Cultivators.
Numerous Half Demons perished in the struggles with human Cultivators. Of course, for the Abyssal Demon King, those Half Demons... were nothing more than tools to provide it with sustenance, just expendable material to be casually used up.
When the day came that all these expendable materials were consumed, it could return to Penglai Demon Island and rally once more. There would probably be several thousand Half Demons responding to its call.
With the help of this group of expendable Half Demons, the Abyssal Demon King was making quite a success of itself outside, becoming known in this sea area as an immensely powerful Sea Beast.
Merchant ships passing through could barely survive encounters with Half Demons by relying on the Cultivators aboard. But if they encountered the Abyssal Demon King, they faced nothing but a certain death!
Moreover... the Abyssal Demon King also played the role of a deity for the group of Half Demons! It deliberately presented itself as the incarnation of divine presence in front of the Half Demons, and with that...
It could use humans as food while also taking the faith and worship of the Half Demons as a source of strength. This had led to it growing ever stronger over the years.
Now, the Abyssal Demon King felt it was no less powerful than some of the Immortal Gods in the heavens, and in this sea area, it even deemed itself invincible.
Such a bloated sense of self had persisted... for who knows how many years.
Until today, when its lofty self-perception was ruthlessly shattered!
In this sea area, the Abyssal Demon King had encountered countless humans and many Cultivators. It had even come across other demons not from Penglai Demon Island... but whether those were other demons or the Cultivators, none could rival the Abyssal Demon King.
The problem was, the massive slash tearing through the sea and hurtling towards it now instilled a sense of mortal danger!
The eyes of the Abyssal Demon King suddenly shrank in alarm!
It couldn’t even be concerned with the tremendous pain of the tentacle that had just been severed. All it knew was that if it didn’t block that slash, what would be cut off wouldn’t just be a tentacle, but likely its own enormous body!
In that case, it would certainly die!
The Abyssal Demon King didn’t even have time to question who the attacker was. The remaining seven massive tentacles of its body were thrashing rapidly, churning the entire ocean into a tempest, lifting gigantic waves dozens of meters high. Dense, tangible demonic winds seemed to merge with the sea itself.
"ROAAAAAR!!!" The Abyssal Demon King let out an unhuman-like roar, and right before it, the sea’s surface suddenly rose into a colossal wall of water. At first glance, this water wall seemed at least a hundred meters tall and tens of meters thick.
Coiling, substantial demonic winds enveloped the towering water wall.
Within the wall, numerous fish swam, but as they touched the surging demonic winds, they were instantly torn to shreds.
