Chapter 356: Before the masks part 2

The King was looking at the kingdom as he always did in the morning. He himself didn’t know why he had such a habit, but he did it every day without missing it.

He knew that he had a lot of strange habits that nobody could understand. Even so, he never questioned what passed in his mind. Baldur knew that he was born to do great things. He was sure that his ideas would bring great change to that world.

The King had contacted other geniuses before. He was aware that there were brilliant minds out there. However, nobody could ever match him, in his opinion.

All those geniuses needed to struggle and keep running after their objectives every day in order to get where they were now. The King didn’t need such a thing, he didn’t need to prove to anybody, even to himself, that he was a genius.

He was the kind of individual that anyone would look at and suppose how great he was just by looking, even before he was a king. There was something on his personality, on his looks, or then in his aura, that showed to others that he was above. There wasn’t a single person who could stare directly at his eyes without lowering their heads.

Baldur didn’t earn that name by force. People named him like that, but he was the one who acknowledged that he deserved it. He was aware that his talent was beyond a normal human, and that his legacy would be that of a son of a great god like Odin.

He was on top of his castle, in the biggest tower, looking through the window.

Baldur heard steps coming from the stairs of that tower, and then someone knocked on the door, calling for his name.

"Please enter, general." He allowed, solemnly.

The general didn’t wait for any further to enter that room, bowing to the king.

He wasn’t hurried because he had bad news, though. Actually, he was just flabbergasted.

In truth, all the kingdom was flabbergasted with what the King was doing currently. Nobody could ever believe it.

"Sir, there is new information about the war..."

The King nodded his head, letting him tell the news.

"The kingdom of the north surrendered. They are officially leaving the war and signed a pact with our kingdom. They lost the battles against the nearby kingdoms, which are now in ruins as well. The Global Territorial War is still ongoing, but our continent is completely freed from it. The portions of earth were already split for the time being. Our kingdom is the only one that didn’t do anything and maintained its lands untouched!

"W-We did it, Your Highness. We won the war without losing a single man!"

Baldur knew that it would happen, so he wasn’t exactly excited or happy.

He just did what he thought that should be done.

Firstly, instead of wasting resources with war, he anticipated the process of industrialization of his kingdom, also as improving its technology.

Through experiments, he was able to find something that could substitute any kind of energy that they used in their continent.

He focused on doing Belic advancements for his kingdom, but instead of using it, he just sold everything to other kingdoms in exchange for a temporary period of peace between them, also as protection and money.

With the money and resources that they gained from this business, they just improved it even more.

It came to a time when their kingdom was evolved in such a way that no other could ever match. All the continent lowered their heads to Kingdom Indigo.

"They said that I was crazy when I found Indigo Energy. They said that I was not going to be the one to end this whole war and make all the other people lower their heads to me. They protested, rebelled, and tried to stop me. But I am the greatest king that this world ever saw." He muttered.

"N-No doubt about it, milord! I myself never doubted you!"

"I know, I know. I never once doubted myself as well." He nodded his head again.

"Tell me, general, which is the Kingdom that is conquering more lands in this territorial war?"

The general pondered for a moment, trying to recollect all the information that he got. Currently, he was more a messenger than a warrior.

"I am pretty sure that Zartan is the Kingdom that is dominating the Motherland, the biggest continent of the world. They destroyed more than fifteen kingdoms already. They also have the strongest fleet in the world. They are aiming to conquer other kingdoms in faraway lands, this includes ours as well."

Baldur smiled faintly.

"They are way too big already. Regardless of how big the kingdoms that they conquered are, it is way too many lands to have been destroyed."

"B-But currently our kingdom is progressing in leaps. Our war power is greater than theirs. We can destroy their entire fleet just with the weapons that we’re able to make with Indigo Energy!"

"Fool! We still didn’t use Indigo Energy to its full potential! We still have a lot to work on until we can do the real deal. Our weapons are way too weak, and we are just using their raw power. There is too much more behind this energy than you could ever think. We aren’t just more powerful than them, but also have greater potential in the long run."

The general backed away some steps, afraid that he said something wrong.

"I-I am sorry, Your Majesty! I was just saying that we don’t need to fear. Also, we already ended the war in our country."

"When I said that I would end the war, I didn’t mean that it was just on our continent, but in all the world!"

The general’s face went pale.

"And how are we going to do this?"

He turned to the general.

"It’s time to show our claws to everyone. We already stayed in idleness for too long. To conquer the world, we will need to move some steps..."

That’s not a tale about a king trying to save his kingdom without fighting. It is a tale about a man who once wanted to conquer the world.
