Chapter 335: Counterattack deadline

Casper was aware of everything that MMA told him. He didn’t feel the need to hear it all again. However, he knew that the Boss had only good intentions by saying that. He would do the same, after all.

The priority of the Aesirs would always be the Royal Family, more specifically Vick.

The King and the Queen seemed to take care of themselves quite well during the invasion. However, Vick and the rest of the Royal Family’s members weren’t the same. They didn’t have the mighty power that those two had.

Once something presented any threat to Vick, even if it was indirectly, they needed to be sure to keep an eye on this thing.

Just say beautiful words and give your love to someone wasn’t just something used to make a cute and lovey-dovey scene and leave it like that. It meant to make someone, even if in part, emotionally dependant on you.

Even if Vick could hold on quite well without Casper, once he was gone or got hurt somehow, she would feel his pain, she would miss him.

The same would happen to Casper if she was the one to go away forever or do any wrong choices.

"Maybe stay like friends and make our relationship be more based on political and military interest was the best thing to do, right?" Casper asked in a hoarse voice.

All those failures were really getting him right where it hurt. He was getting too overwhelmed by those things.

"Yes and no," MMA answered. "You could maintain your relationship as it was, but I don’t know whether Vick would be able to recover or not. Remember that her legs and this defeat aren’t the only things that are bothering her. Although she probably didn’t say it to you, she is feeling bad about the fact that King Leif and Queen Freya didn’t do anything to help her when she was being spanked.

"Believe in me when I say that they have their own reasons to do that, but Vick and any other common human being, can’t understand things like gods do.

"All these effects of the traumas she suffered could be lessened by you."

Casper also got confused about the fact that those two didn’t help their own daughter. MMA talked about them as if they were gods, so they weren’t weak at all.

However, he knew that his time would be better spent when thinking about one thing at a time, and the mystery behind those two mighty figures was something to let in the background for now.

"But..." MMA emphasized. "There is the possibility that she would have the strength to do it herself, then make an amazing comeback, stronger than never before, and lead this district to its glory days.

"Anyhow, there are too many factors involved in this equation, White warrior. We can’t keep looking to the past all the time. It’s better to focus on our future and avoid doing things that can possibly mess with what we have right now."

Casper ended that topic with a last sigh, nodding to him. He made up his mind long ago that he wouldn’t die until he could make the masks of District 42 fall. Now he just had another reason to keep alive.

"Anyway, MMA, you said that you had something to tell me. What’s it?"

"Ah, right. I didn’t want to impose a deadline for you and the other Aesirs because of your current condition. However, humans seem to work harder when they are faced with something of the sort, like a challenge to run against the time. It will surely help in the recovery process. That’s why I imposed to all the warriors who will participate in our counterattack that it will start in one month, at most. The person who isn’t prepared until then won’t be going with us inside the Castle again."

The soldier heard that attentively. His face didn’t even twitch.

He was analyzing if that was a reasonable deadline, even though it wasn’t needed at all.

MMA was a genius, so he knew exactly that one month was the best period of time for this.

"I see." Casper’s face darkened once more after he reasoned for a while. "Then, they will come at any time to attack us again. One month at most, I suppose."

MMA nodded his head, not seeming to worry about it at all due to his nonchalant expression.

"Yes. It’s enough time for them to get more resources, get their troops together, make a plan, and then find our support base. Our Sgails could spy the surroundings and saw that some Frelsis are moving to the Castle, which means that they are getting reinforcements." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Do they want to slaughter us completely?"

MMA shook his head, disappointed.

"You are smarter than this, White warrior. You know that they are just doing it for one reason."

The soldier didn’t need to think any further about that matter to tell what was going on.

"They will use these people that I want to protect as hostages. They will threaten their lives until I give up and decide to work with them..."

The Boss nodded, sighing slightly.

"That’s how hard it is to be powerful in any kind of way, White warrior."

Casper knew exactly where that conversation was going.

"You want me to find a way to invade the Castle during this period of time, right? We need to act before they can ever get out of there."

"Exactly. The Teleporting Pads are an issue, and they probably had a great defense inside there right now. We need to go to the palace and get Gungnir back. Also..." MMA’s cold and indifferent tone when saying that gave Casper goosebumps. "We need to kill all those Vanirs once and for all. No mercy, no hesitation, no more retrieves now. It’s kill or be killed. If those humans keep wandering on these lands, there will be always an opportunity to invade the Castle again at full force."

Casper nodded his head, determined.

"Sure. I will do my best. Also, what about the other Aesirs. They are the only ones who can actually kill those guys, right?"

MMA looked away in the distance, pensive.

"Ah, about them..."
