Chapter 303: Gungnir part 2

"Where is Gungnir?" Camilla asked a second time, but in a more intimidating way. The man didn’t answer him immediately, so she asked again.

She was getting already stressed with those idiot Jarls. If she could do what she really wanted, all of them would be dead at this point. However, Camilla was close enough to her objective to hold herself and not let her craziness get the better of her.

The man she was holding wasn’t someone with much prestige. She didn’t know him, and the superiors never talked about anyone like him.

’Anyway, I can be assured that this dumb isn’t lying to me. Since the moment when the woman pointed at him, he didn’t deny or agreed with her affirmation, nor tried to deviate my attention to another person. But I am confident that the time I spent threatening them was enough to make them get cautious around me.’

She put her pistol on the mask of that man, right on the eye. She smiled wryly, showing it clearly on the side of her face that wasn’t covered. It was a creepy sight for the man. He felt like witnessing a monster smiling.

"I will start to count. You need to tell me where is Gungnir before the countdown reaches zero. If you can’t do it just in time, then you know what will happen. I am not joking around. All these people are counting on you."

The man was sweating buckets while thinking if he should tell her or not. King Leif would probably kill all of them if they told to her something, but there was a small chance that they could just go to prison and stay alive.

Nevertheless, when talking about Camilla’s intentions, it was clear that they wouldn’t have the smallest chance to keep alive if they didn’t tell anything.

Those people evaluated their own lives more than anything else. They weren’t warriors after all. They didn’t see any point in die on a battlefield to go to heaven or something like this. Nobody who wasn’t a Ridire or an Aesir thought the same way as them.

Camilla didn’t care about it at all. For her, die or not die was pointless as long as she could do what she wanted to do while alive.

"10!" She started the countdown.

"Hey, wait! I know that you are serious but--"

"9!"

"But they will kill me if I say something about it, so--"

"8!"

"Please! I don’t have any idea what I will--"

"7!"

"KING LEIF WILL KILL ALL OF US AND OUR FAMILIES! PLEA--"

"4!"

"Y-You just skipped a lot of--"

"3!"

"It is with King Leif! Not in the mansion! He doesn’t even stay on this floor!"

"2!"

"He is on the last floor of the Castle! Gungnir always stays with him!" The man never talked so fast like that. His throat was in pain because of the effort. Tears ran down his face.

"1..." Camilla was basically shouting each number before, but now her tone of voice was getting soother.

The man smiled in relief behind his mask. He knew that the consequences would come afterward, but he would have some minutes more of life at least. Every second that he could buy to keep alive seemed to be worth gold.

"Zero."

"Wait! What!? I-I just told you everything I knew! I am an old butler of the Royal Family for decades! I saw King Leif rise since he was a teenager! I am even older here than Raul! Because of it, I know things that nobody here could ever tell you! Please, don’t do this to me!"

The man was trying to fill her head with justifications for her mercy, but she did not care. His words were completely deflected by her mind. He tried to put both hands on Camilla’s arm, trying to get that pistol away from his face, but she was stronger than him and stayed still.

"You said that you would keep me alive, so why!?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"You just said that King Leif would kill all of you, right? Then, instead of die for the hands of that bastard, be honored for being freed by a Frelsi!"

The sound of a firearm shooting was heard. The Frelsis walking around that floor and searching through the place got alerted, but once they saw that it was coming from the mansion, they brushed it off.

After all, no matter if she was a woman or a man, Rat was still Rat in the end. Her actions continued the same no matter in which perspective they looked at her.

More shots could be heard echoing. That same pattern lasted some hours. They couldn’t imagine what kind of cruelties were happening inside there.

Those Frelsis didn’t have her crazy mind, but they needed to admit that they hated the Jarls. Not to the point of torturing them psychologically and physically, but enough to not want those leeches on the power.

In truth, none of those people wanted to kill. Everyone there had their hands stained in the blood of Jarls and Ridires right now. They weren’t proud of it, though. However, they knew that Javir had good reasons to be doing what he did. Sometimes, there is no other way around instead of a chaotic one, and Javir was courageous enough to take this path and accept all the responsibilities that came with it.

One could say that he was just affording such carnage to happen for the sake of his folk, even though he was using them as soldiers now.

Camilla went out of the mansion with all her body spotted with the blood of all those Jarls that were inside there.

The Frelsis, and Jomurgand as well, finished their searching. They couldn’t find anybody else wandering on that floor. The only people still alive and inside that place were the hostages they made in the other constructions, all of them related to the Royal Family.

"Don’t worry, guys. Our guess is right. Gungnir isn’t on this floor. Our next stop is on the last floor, which is the one where Canute probably is right now. Let’s go there and make this Castle shake!"
