District 42-Chapter 295: Oracle part 1
The city which Brenna was protecting wasn’t better than any of the others. Actually, one could say that this specific city was the worst one.
That’s because the Ridires working with her didn’t do a good job when dealing with the Frelsi, which lead the Frelsi troops to become too overwhelming in power.
Their enemies already dominated half of the city, and that city was one of the biggest, which made it clear that the Ridires’ disadvantage was too high.
However, the Oracle Aesir wasn’t paying too much attention to it, she was only focusing on her fight.
She and that Vanir woman had already exchanged some blows, testing each other’s power. Brenna found her enemy to be quite strong, but it didn’t matter to her at all. During all the battle, she seemed to be just playing, after all.
’The superiors said that she wasn’t one of the most dangerous Aesirs tactically speaking, but what I am seeing now is something above what they told me. She isn’t that bad when fighting. I landed more blows, but she was swift and precise when fighting against me.’ The Vanir reasoned.
She still had a lot to show on that battle, though. Some minutes of a fight wouldn’t be enough to make her resort to her true weapons. She wasn’t frightened about the power of the Aesir at all.
Brenna was about the same as her. She knew that a lot was about to happen in that battle. She could have killed the Vanir the exact moment she appeared, but it wouldn’t be funny. The Oracle Aesir was excited to have a good battle. It had been a good while since the last time when she fought someone. The other Aesirs always were overprotective with her.
Both women were standing on the city’s main street. There, the battle against Ridires and Frelsi was intense, but no one dared to interrupt Brenna or the Vanir. Those troops tried to do it sometimes and didn’t have a good outcome, so they decided to focus on their own battles and let those two powerful gods fighting alone.
The battlefield seemed to be opened in the specific spot they were. There was no trace of battle around them in 30 meters ratio.
Suddenly, as if in a synchronized dance, both women stomped the ground and rushed toward each other.
Brenna threw several blades in the air, toward the Vanir coming her way. However, before reaching her, the woman avoided those blades swiftly.
They didn’t stop to run and attacked each other while running. Both landed their blows, Brenna on the stomach, and the Vanir on her face. Because of their impetus, they crossed each other.
Brenna turned to her enemy just in time to avoid a powerful kick. A blade appeared abruptly on the Vanir’s hand, which she drew when the Aesir wasn’t paying attention. With a swing, she could scratch Brenna’s cheek.
The Vanir, though, didn’t have too much time to keep her assault on Brenna. The blades that her opponent threw before were going backward, aiming her body again. With her knife and good reflexes, she dodged and defended it all. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The blades kept flying around, aiming the Vanir as if they were alive. Soon, Brenna assaulted her as well, pressing forward with all her speed and landing a flurry of blows on the enemy.
Overwhelmed by the attacks coming from all directions, the Vanir roared and gave a kick to Brenna’s stomach, launching her body backward several meters away.
She retrieved, getting away from the blades, which returned to Brenna’s hands this time instead of pursuing her.
A minute of silence followed after that exchange...
"What’s your name, big sister?" Brenna asked all of a sudden. She had an innocent look on her face.
"Why do you want to know?" The deep voice of that woman echoed.
Brenna just shrugged, narrowing her eyes in a mischievous expression.
The Vanir was tired of playing with that Aesir. She knew about Brenna’s personality and mental issues beforehand but never thought that it would be like that. The way she talked and acted didn’t fit her adult body at all. It seemed like a spirit of a child took control of someone else’s body.
"I won’t tell my name, but among the Vanirs they call me Hypno."
Brenna nodded her head slowly and emphatically.
"Yup, yup. That’s what I thought. I predicted it."
Hypno looked at her with annoyance.
"Why did you ask, then!?"
The Oracle Aesir laughed happily.
"I was just confirming, just confirming. And you decided to answer, it’s not my fault! But now you explained everything to me. Now things are clear. I knew that big sister would work like this."
"What are you talking about?"
"It’s simple, big sister! I know about your power now!"
Hypno stuttered for a while, looking at her in disbelief. She wasn’t expecting that her opponent would discover such a thing so quickly. It messed a little bit with her plans, but it wasn’t that bad. She could pull through it.
’After all, this idiot Aesir barely knows what is waiting for he--’
"Aaaaaand... I need to say that I am very disappointed with you, big sister!" Brenna pouted, even though the Vanir couldn’t see it.
"Why is that?" She raised one brow.
"Hehe, I know very well what you are planning, big sister. You can’t deceive an Oracle, after all. When they gave this title, it wasn’t just for show, y’know~?"
Hypno was getting anxious about what she was saying. If it was what she was thinking, then the power of that Aesir was more frightening than she thought.
Brenna pointed to the ground with one finger.
"I know very well that what we are living now isn’t reality, big sister. I knew it from the very start... No, furthermore, I knew about our entire battle from the day I was born until now." Then, she pointed toward Hypno. "And I know that you will win against me, but just this time, because there will be a second chance."
