Chapter 254: Captured

The criminals landed in the building that Casper fell just a second ago. They couldn’t believe in their eyes when they saw the White warrior colliding against an obvious obstacle in the way.

At first, they thought that he was bluffing. Maybe it could be a trap just to attract them to the ground where he would have the advantage. There were a few strategies that he could use to fool them and turn the table.

However, that wasn’t the case. Once they saw his injured body lying on the ground, those guys even got flabbergasted about it. They weren’t expecting that the chasing would end like that.

In the start, just two of them went down there to take a look at him.

"Do you think that he is the right guy?"

"I guess so. Look at his hair. Also..." He approached Casper’s body, easily taking off his Black mask and showing it to his friend. "He isn’t actually wearing a mask so..."

After that proof came up, they couldn’t simply affirm that he wasn’t the right guy. However, at the same time that it was good and let them less anxious, it also got them disappointed. They were expecting to fight someone strong, after all.

"I am not willing to fight every single strong person that shows up in front of me, but I need to admit that I was curious about fight against someone who doesn’t have a mask, nor a proficiency with any technology, and that is still feared at some extent. It’s a pity that he did such a failure, but we are humans, after all."

As the man said it, he walked casually near Casper and gave a light kick on his body, which didn’t move an inch in response.

"It’s better to put handcuffs on him before he decides to wake up, or in the case he is expecting us to lower our guards." The other criminal approached, crouching beside Casper with a pair of handcuffs for both his arms and legs.

In a matter of seconds, he handcuffed him, still letting his body laying on the ground.

"Well, anyway, I agree with you. It’s a bit disappointing, but it’s better than spend hours trying to catch someone. Also, this guy was just unprepared. Rat spent a lot of time memorizing his routine and settling a plan to siege him completely. Even an Aesir would have a hard time dealing with it. If that building didn’t knock him out, one of our bullets would eventually do it." The man shrugged. It wasn’t a big deal for him, anyway.

"Well, he even managed to take out two of us, in the end, and just with a knife and some jet-boots. This guy is a tough one, he is just in the wrong place."

The discussion ended after that quote. They didn’t have any feeling of admiration or empathy with Casper, although they could understand his weaknesses. Anyway, he was just another mission; one of the various steps they needed to take to achieve their major goal.

One of them used the device on their ear to contact someone.

"We took him" was all that he said. Another person on the line didn’t need to ask any further to know what it was about.

"That’s awesome. Rat will be glad to hear this. Keep reporting to us about all things happening. We will be sticking to the other part of the plan. Make sure to bring him as fast as you can."

"Understood."

Just as the criminal near Casper hung up, the other person on the line gave a faint smile as he took off his hand from his ear and walked on the corridors of the Main Laboratory.

He made sure to be in a hidden place, then called Rat.

"Hey, Boss, I have good news from the team you set to capture Casper. They could take him out, which seemed to be easier than we predicted. I don’t think that we lost too many troops. The guy that talked with me was pretty calm when calling."

He heard a giggle on the other side. Even now, such a creepy voice gave him goosebumps.

’No... Rather than the voice, I think it’s just the energy that this guy exhales. He is on another level. It’s difficult to measure how much danger he really is.’

The man was one of his closest subordinates. He couldn’t say that he was too intimate with Rat, but he was around him for a good while until then. To not be able to get used to his boss after so long, the guy got to be frightening for real.

"That’s awesome! I am glad that everything went well. Now, we can go to the next step! Thank you, darling! Also, how is your job in the lab going?"

"It’s fine. I have all settled up. Adam is a thorn in the side, but I could deal with him without raising too many suspicious. I needed to pass through some harsh times because of him and--" Before he could end his report, Rat hung up. His boss didn’t like to be stuck with idiot details, so he wouldn’t hear about the difficulties that his subordinate needed to pass.

’Well, that’s fine. He is like this. In the end, what matters is what our plan will bring to all of us...’

The man shrugged. Suddenly, though, got called by someone. It was Astrid.

"Hey, we gotta go to block 67. For some reason, they messed with the schedule, so it’s our time to work on project Jomurgand again."

"Oh, yeah. That’s a hassle... I wanted to stick to my projects..."

"Yes, right!? I have so many things to do..."

As both of them started to complain together, which was the only way to get Astrid to really talk with someone about anything, except in Casper’s case, things were getting very agitated in other floors of the Castle, particularly the one that Rat was in.

"That’s wonderful! Everything is going according to plan! Hahahaha!" He was inside a building, on top of a chair with his arms opened.

Four other subordinates were beside him, but those weren’t like the others. Just for their looks, one could guess that they were in a different rank among the criminals. Their posture was more confident, the look in their eyes as well... Everything resembled someone who had huge power and a handful of responsibilities on their shoulders.

"Now that the White warrior is out of the game and the Main Lab is on our hands, we just need to find a way to position the Aesirs and Ridires the way we want, right?" A man with an extremely hoarse voice, just as if he was sick, asked, looking at Rat and his other three friends. He had heavy clothes made of leather and used a plague mask over the usual mask they would wear inside the district.

"Yes. That’s how things are supposed to be, but I bet that Rat has something major planned for the Aesirs. He probably is ready to start the plan now." A woman covered completely by dark clothes, just with her tattoed right arm appearing, affirmed, giving a glance to her boss. She wasn’t a bad-looking woman, but something on her aura made her look like a terrifying person. She didn’t seem like someone that you would like to talk with.

"Ah! And you guessed, right, my dear! I am in a good mood, yes! And when I am in a good mood, you can bet that I do things two times as efficiently as I usually do!" Rat was ecstatic because of his recent chain of victories. Everything was going so well that it seemed even a dream. However, no matter how strong he pinched his arm, he wouldn’t wake up.

"After all, I won’t need to force the Aesirs to split up. They will do it by themselves because of the dumb plan that the White warrior said to them! Soon, they will be on the exact place that I want them to be!"

"Do you think we can keep up with his plan?" One of those criminals asked. He had bandages all over his body, some even covering him from behind his mask. The bandages had a dirty gray tone and were totally black in some parts. He got a deep voice and had his arms crossed over the chest.

"Are you kidding?" The most imponent of those three stepped forward, narrowing his eyes towards Rat, who was gladly dancing on top of the chair. "We are Vanirs. Of course, we will keep up... or, rather, surpass his expectations on his plan."

The other three looked between each other, smiling behind their masks and feeling motivated. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Let’s see who will win in a battle of gods: Vanir or Aesir. That’s gotta be something interesting!" The man’s eyes shone in a faint blue color that seemed to be alive. He clenched his fists. His body couldn’t wait any further for the clash that was going to happen in no time.
